I never knew Cronos was a Titan, just that he was the father of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. Or, was that just another piece of the mythology that was twisted to make it more interesting in the game?

Well people have a lot of versions of Cerberus. Take a look at the new game Dante's Inferno. They made Cerberus look like a bunch of worms covered in tissue..

Technically, it's Hydra. However, mythology in video games is never 100% accurate, so even if cerberus isn't there and should be, at least it was still included in the game.
