  • The elevation from one side of Cuyahoga Falls to the other on the river drops more than the height of Niagara Falls. Good luck dying! You'll be personal parts of the natural cycles of the river and your smashed kayak polluting garbage. The Gorge dam isn't coming out and thats the tallest dam.

  • @MarkCox73 Why are you so angry at paddlers getting excited about some gradient on a local river? Maybe you should take up your argument and negative comments to the Ohio EPA and others proposing the removal of these structures? Can you not fish moving water?

  • by the way, you should not go over lowhead dams its very dangerous

  • @ohiocanalgirl Don't worry, we are all aware of the dangers. We only run the dam at low water levels.

  • The dams need to go! They are an abomination to the river

  • SELFISH KAYAKERS!!!! TAKE OUT THE DAMS AND FLOOD THE VALLEY???? All the businesses??? What about people like me who fish in the lakes behind the dams??? we already lost the Monroe Falls lake and the one in Kent! Go look at the ENVIRONMENTAL CATASTROPHE the Ohio EPA made in Monroe Falls .... the one they call a "success" Below COMPLETELY CLOGGED WITH SILT FOR OVER A MILE!!!! It wasn't like that before! It was 2 to 3 feet deeper and faster! That lake WAS NOT STAGNANT! IT WAS FULL OF FISH!

  • @MarkCox73 You should be just excited about the dam removal as us kayakers are. Free flowing water is healthier for aquatic life due to the increase in dissolved O2. The smallmouth will thrive in the gorge after the dams are down. They will notch the dam to release probably 3000-4000 cfs at a time, so it won't flood anything. If you want to fish a lake, there are plenty of them around. Wanting to keep the best whitewater in the state flooded so you can fish "the lake", now that's selfish.

  • @MarkCox73 Who are you calling selfish when you're the one who wants the dam there for fishing purposes? Dams are not natural and they invade the river. If clogging human arteries is bad, then clogging rivers is bad. As for the businesses...well, no one should have built the dam or the buildings right there in the first place. Too bad, I care more about the river than the recreation!! sorry.
