What's with the hammer and sickle?

@varanid9 More than any other image in history(imo)the Hammer & Sickle says "fuck the system,fuck the way things are,we could live better than this"-seemed quite an appropriate ident for a largely Punk/RnR channel I thought.

@stev1963hit I'd have thought that the Hammer and sickle was second only to the stawstik in standing for a system that screwed the people. And if one counts the number of innocents slaughtered in the name of socialism, it should actually pull way ahead, media propoganda notwithstanding.

@varanid9 Capitalism was screwing ordinary people & murdering them in endless futile wars for centuries before Communism was ever thought of,& it's still doing so now.If you're saying J Stalin was an evil mass murderer I totally agree,but remember-if it weren't for the sacrifices of millions of decent,brave Communists,both in the USSR & the many European resistance movements,we would all be living under that swastika you mentioned!

@stev1963hit True, but don't forget that Mao murdered even millions more than Stalin, who himself outdid Hitler, another socialist (though not communist) Also true about capitalism, but every single communist government save one has been a miserable failure that never even reached the lowest levels of capitalism's success. Be that as it may, capitalism is an economic system, not truly political. I prefer freedom to communism.

@varanid9 You make some fair points brother & I respect the fact you don't resort to inane insults when yer disagreed with(the usual way on U-Tube eh!).Can I end by just saying that,in an age where we working-class people are now being squeezed as a result of a crisis brought about by the greed & negligence of the rich,where we have no political party that speaks for us & a media that pretends that all this is all being done for our own good...I'm not too keen on contemporary 'freedom'!

@stev1963hit Thank you for not automatically assuming I was some kind of right winger simply because I'm not leftist. I don't have a problem with those who are openly communist if they use their brains. My problem is with "leftists" in our western culture who refuse to acknowledge reality in fighting non-existent "problems" as defined by ideology rather than facts. These are the "useful idots" that :Lenin writes of.  They are always dealt with accordingly after a revolution.

@stev1963hit We are currently under the thumb of the super capitalists that Lenin warned us about, but bear in mind that their ascendency wasthe direct result of government meddling into capitalism instead of letting it take its course;i.e. a massive tax bail-out to burden the people instead of letting the banks go under so that new, vital, growing businesses could take their place.  Of course, Lenin preidicted that would happen because of the power of the capitalists' money.....

@stev1963hit At any rate, politics aside, I have a great respect for all things russian, I speak russian, collect Kalashnikov rifles, and love to read Dostoyevsky. An average of 19,000 soviet soldiers died for each DAY of that war. But you have to understand that the founding fathers of the US Constitution were the most radical, liberal leaders EVER. The sad joke that is the opressive USA today would be an outrage to them. Take care, brother.
