This is a significant icon of African American history that needs to be brought out of obscurity her story is fascinating with both tales of sorrow and triumph. Valaida's musicality is superb. I am completing an independent study on the 2nd African American Diaspora experience. About AA who traveled aboard went to Europe became successful, but returned to the U.S. as unsung heroes. She contributed to the success of women musicians and entrepreneurs. A true pioneer and trailblazer.
Just heard her story on a local radio station-how sad that such such an incredible performer was so abused! I'm glad we have these recordings and the story to pass on to remember her and her talent as well as a bad time in our history-
This is a story of a women who has long been forgotten. Her story needs to be told for she is an American Hero. She survived 18 months in a Nazi concentration camp. I'm sure it was the music inside her that kept her alive. The spirit of her music is inspiring. I am commited in letting the world know she will be my focus in my master's thesis for my Arts and Humanties degree. Valaida you are gone, but not forgotten.

Wonderful music and singing, but what a sad accompanying story. Valaida Snow truly was an accomplished lady.
Thank you for sharing and for your interesting notes. Much appreciated.

Qué agradable sorpresa. No la conocía como trompetista. Y qué historia dramática.
