  • lmao...........

  • Learn how to spell, people.

  • I am very happy to be a Jeep's customer..

  • Might have been ok in that, but it wasn't too deep. And there was only one drift to plough through. Bottom line is with deep snow, power isn't everything. Good tires and an automatic transmission will work wonders. 4x4 preferably.

  • @Eagle1ZX This was a manual transmission, which in my opinion is better than automatic when you need to "rock" the car out of a small hole. But in this case "rocking" was not necessary, as she did not dig a hole by spinning the tires. So, no rocking or pushing was needed. 4x4's add a lot of extra hardware that is not really needed unless you are pushing a snow plow.

  • @rbez1984 True, as I mentioned though, that wasn't deep snow and the car didn't have to travel a long distance. With regards to rocking, I'd still stick with an auto, as you can select between R and D instead of just dipping the clutch. Also automatics have generally better traction to the driven wheels due to the torque converter giving less torque than a manual clutch. Of course that said, you can use a clutch well to get out of tricky spots. Weight plays a big factor too.

  • Was that AWD? I know they made some Toyota Matrix and Vibe's AWD.

  • @ryanmajor2 It was front wheel drive.

  • Manual tranny owns auto for snow. You can rock your car back and forth and not have it break.

  • @Dramquart You can rock an auto back/forth, with a little gas without damaging it.

  • is that a donut on the driver's rear side?

  • @zerosoma33 No that's not a donut tire. All tires are P185/65R15, which I understand are better in snow than the lower profile, and wider standard tires for the Matrix.

  • badly.Too open the throttle.

  • @JohanssonK86 I noticed that in your own video of a car in snow, that there was no throttle used at all, and also that the car did not move one inch.

  • Would have been funnier if she backed into the apartment.

  • @oldfart387 Yes, I know and its also the reason that so many people dislike this video. But this is not a comedy video about idiots in snow, it is an educational video to teach people how to not get stuck. A lot of people apparently don't like to be educated about driving in snow.

  • @rbez1984 Have driven many miles in snow. So the video was no big deal. The only thing I fear is black ice.

  • Big deal, my Dodge could've pulled outta that without slipping a tire!

  • @bigdougo Dodges get stuck in snow all the time here in Canada. When I used to live up north, I often had to dig my car out from under 6 ft. of drifted snow. It does not matter what you drive, when you get stuck, don't spin the tires. It makes you stuck worse.

  • @rbez1984 If it doesn't matter what you drive why say Dodges get stuck all the time, and what about Canada? do Dodges get stuck up there more than anywhere else? You missed the point entirley. driver ability accounts for alot, but my 4x4 truck with more ground clearance, V8 and traction control will go places your Matrix will not

  • @bigdougo I am not criticising Dodge, anything with wheels can get stuck in snow in Canada. Canada has enough snow that 4x4's get stuck, even road graders can get stuck. I'm not bragging on Toyota, I am trying to help people out by telling them to stop spinning their wheels when the vehicle stops moving. This is like a public service for all those people that I see getting stuck, spinning their wheels for nothing and wanting me to help push them out.

  • @rbez1984 Well, in that case, ok... But reversing was kinda risky...

  • @Poodleinacan Well I didn't know ahead of time she was going to reverse. But she has been driving farm tractor since 10 years old, and she is better than me driving in close quarters. Probably better than most people.

  • Rule nuber one:Shovel AS MUCH SNOW AS POSSBLE.

  • @Poodleinacan Actually, rule number one for us older guys is don't give yourself a heart attack. So at a motel like this, I might go to the office and ask them to shovel the snow for me. But I figured it wasn't worth waiting, I didn't have a shovel in the car, and the snow was soft.

  • WOW! HOW EXCITING! "OK, I"M GONNA WASTE 28 SECONDS OF YOUR LIFE!!"

  • @zbassistz OK just keep on spinning your tires. You'll waste a lot more than 28 seconds.

  • yea i had a 09, i tottaled last winter...my fault i was driving 2 fast hit a curb and fip.....pretty good little car

  • non-diesel black smoke?

  • @coryvm74 In a gasoline engine, blue smoke means engine is worn. Black smoke means engine is running too rich.

  • @coryvm74 he put fuel oil idiot....but is in half price than diesel!

  • clap clap clap, you really seeam to know what your talking about in the comment responses big props

  • thats why i carry a car shovel then risk bustting the plastic bumper i use to do that when cars had metal bumpers

  • Chains????

  • well used?? its just raw fuel because its running rich in the cold till its completely warmed up! One of the few times I'd defend a Toyota =-P

  • на холодный двигатель столько оборотов((: умничка(:

  • I was hoping for a Planes, Trains, and Automobiles moment...

  • by the smoke from the exhaust, that Matrix looks very used.

  • random glitch in the fuel injection prompted by suddenly revving up a cold engine. It had probably been running for only about 20 seconds before busting out.

I can wipe my finger in the tailpipe and come up clean, so normally no smoke. I never had any other car burn that clean, and it has over 100,000 km now.

  • @bradarel22 WHat do you mean? It's a Diesel

  • thats not no xD dont spin, ul just make it worse ^^,

  • Yep just keep revving it up till something brakes...

THAT IS NOT HOW TO DRIVE ON SNOW!!!

  • @VirginianAmerican Rofl, two small tire spins isn't going to break anything. By the way, you spelled "breaks" wrong.

  • @Weazell Both goode pointz. I'm gladd sumbudy else iz keeping trak ov the speling arund hear uther then me. I'm sure you get MY point!

  • that's quite right low revs may have got you out in first try

  • @VirginianAmerican I don't get the sarcasm, but maybe you mean that she is revving the car till it breaks, and that she does not know how to drive in snow.

We get a lot of snow here, and those are winter tires. This is how you drive in snow with winter tires. A Toyota Matrix can actually rev about three times as fast as that and not even come close to breaking. But the point was: Stop revving as soon as you can when the car stops moving, no matter what type of tires.

  • why not take time in shovel ur parking lot ???

  • It is actually a motel, and we were not coming back. I also forgot to bring my shovel on that trip, which was kind of dumb, with all the snow up north that week. Now I have a smaller shovel I leave in the car all winter.

  • When she put it in reverse I was just waiting for her tires to get a good grip and just go flying into the building haha

  • was that thing pouring black smoke or ....?

  • My wife just put 4 Michelin Ice tires on her new Honda Fit. Now all we need is snow so we can test them out,. This will probably be the year we get no snow, lol

  • I got the Yokohama Ice Guard and sure enough we aren't getting enough snow to even justify having winter tires! Arggggh come on snow!!!

  • I may end up taking off our new snow tires, because it will be another snowless winter. No sense in wearing them down.

  • Oh I was waiting for an insurance claim on the building, but she made it out o.k.!

  • Should be careful while doing that, you can burn out your powersteering pump, amongst other things.

  • Turning the steering wheels on snow and ice is actually easier on the power steering than when on dry pavement. I wouldn't worry about the power steering if I was you - although I guess it depends on what kind of car you drive. This car actually has electric power steering.

  • @rbez1984 You should be careful turning your wheels when your car is covered with snow like this one is. If it's hard packed snow you could overheat it till it breaks.

Thats because the snow can block your wheels from moving.

  • sounds like a bag of hammers.

  • That's more like how to drive through a small snow bank. A good job getting out of that spot! :)

  • Driving in snow is not that complicated, you get 4 winter tires, a front wheel drive car, then stop revving the ngine if the car isn't moving. Oh yes, take it easy, you can't stop or steer as quickly. And if you drive to Labrador in February bring emergency supplies and check out some of my other videos or pictures of that trip.

  • why is the exhuast black? Is it a diesel?

  • It's a gasoline engine. Probably a random glitch in the fuel injection prompted by suddenly revving up a cold engine. It had probably been running for only about 20 seconds before busting out.

  • thats wat i think it is

  • its half GM (pontiac vibe) so its probally a engine issue....i wouldnt doubt it my last toyota did nothing but burn oil and randomly die..

  • actually.. everything is Toyota.... the vibe is all toyota except for the body.

  • actually, the vibe is a general motors product, made in either america or canada. toyota is a product of japan.

  • The Toyota Matrix is made in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. The Vibe has the same engine chassis interior, but different exterior and is made in California in a Joint Toyota/GM plant.

  • Actually the toyota matrix is made in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

Great display of dirving OP. not rocket science but I am amazed how many peoples would just sit there and burn rubber not moving.
