Comparing LoL and DotA 2 is leik comparing a rasberry with a strawberry. #3 LoL - Ok Gameplay, Ok Character graphics, horrible spell graphics, Lame use of gaming(Ability Power and Spell Vamp makes supports carries, Spell and Abilities grow power from dmg which is dumb)
All the people bitching about league copying dota, should realize that one of the lead designers for league is Guinsoo, he is the one that created Allstars, the current version that became so popular. He took over from Eul, and then passed it on to Icefrog.
Maybe before some people start raging at which game is better, they should learn to spell. Also, both games are unique in their own ways, not saying that LoL copied Dota, but they changed some things to make it unique. How ever, there are a lot of games that copied Dota.

LoL tried its best to avoid copying dota... but its difficult to avoid ALL attacks (we would have to little heroes to play). if you think LoL is a total copy of dota, take a look at HoN. still, HoN is a good game and has more of the "dota feel", not to mention its great graphics and design. all these are from the MOBA genre, raging over them is like those people saying X is a copy of WoW on every MMORPG video.
What I have seen from new dota players trying lol is that, they think you dont need to last hit creeps just go pvp straight away, you dont need much tactical thinking in team fights or destroying the nexus. Then I recommend them to watch some high elo streams or competitions. Imo havent played Dota so cant be sure, but what I have seen (and I saw many) from gameplay videos is very very slow paced, less dynamic then lol, also some champs looks wierd to me.
different gameplay is suited for different ppl i personally feel that they cant be compared like this n feel that it is most fun when playing with friends

LoL is a much harder game than HoN/DoTA. Anyone saying otherwise either hasn't played LoL much or is an idiot. There is a much wider skill gap in LoL. Doesn't take people nearly as long to become proficient with a champion in DoTA/HoN as it does in LoL. Runes, Masteries, Summoner Spells, a lot of active skills makes LoL more fun and more challenging.

I love how all the HoN fanboys say LoL is a casual game compared to DoTA and HoN. I've played all of the games a lot and can state with certainty that LoL takes more skill and a longer time with each champion to become "good" with it. Many more skills and the need to combo with teammates and use tactics instead of spamming your 2-3 active abilities in HoN. I have thousands of games played in each, doesn't take long to get good with a champ in HoN compared to LoL. So much more to learn in LoL.
@jameshodgeslegal About spamming abilities, I'm pretty sure lol has more skill shots, higher mana pool & mana regen (or energy), along with a much shorter cooldown, and to top it off, more active skills yes. There are no penalties for death, no ability to control gameflow with denail, and a smaller map helping restrict the ONLY *tactic* (to learn) as teamfighting. Thousands I assume is 2000+, so 6000. 1 hour each /4 hours a day 5 days a week = 6 years minimum. LoL came out 6 years ago?
@DaMuffin127 i agree with you, i think that there is a uniquety in ever MOBA. DOTA for example is unique by denial, creep pulling, creeps worth more money and carries that need to be super fed. LOL has cool down reduction, new champ every 2 weeks, runes/masteries and AP which lets spells become stronger. I havent played HoN yet but i am sure it has some good features.

league of legends heroes out every two weeks also new issues every two weeks. regulates how powerful they are the heroes. gives not as the heroes there are over power. as techies have a stun in area of6 seconds. came a new hero today. lol have a story!

I think the all these Lol is too easy players should come and reach 2k elo in LOL since its so easy....They probably came in at level 1 and killed a bunch of people who haven't even played a moba before and didn't reach 30 and play in high ranked games. The community is also much better in Lol as well and its not even close.
LoL is childish, heroes are too much asian stiled, everything is cartoonish, you can't deny your creeps, you can't block your creeps, you can have two same heroes at one time in game wich is pretty retarded. @expert775 don't do it. don't go to dota2. dota is not a game about skill spamming and team fighting. it's about tactics such as pressure, trickery, and abusing strategies. also there is loss of gold upon death and actual early mid and late game scaling for heroes. there are so many items and so many ways to not only play but to win. A team that is clearly stronger can still lose even if they do perfect in all teamfights. :|

Scratching my head to try and think what LoL pressure could be that can top missing literally half the creep waves creating a situation where one side is half the level of the other side, which can happen because of DotA hero scaling over time. Trickery that can top Invisibility or Illusions (rare neutral buffs)? And DotAs strategy and roles (not just build) changes in response to the situation making hero skill combo strategies obsolete in comparison.

Come on man,you can do better than that.LoL is much more ganking and nothing else.In LoL there are not even items that can be cast at enemys or even yourself (except for healing/mana) so that automatically makes it harder than LoL just because of the fact that you have tons of hotkeys to press.
All I have to say about HoN is; really, a new DotA with bad graphics, heros and interface. HoN is free now because it flopped and they need people to play it. LoL seems good and different to DotA which is good. DotA 2 is made by valve yes, but they don't make a million games and icefrog works there now to make sure it's up to his high standards. valve are known for their mods, that's what they do so don't worry 'bout it.
Denying creeps and losing gold on death has jack shit to do with skill difficulty. It takes more skill and practice to be good with a particular champion in LoL then it does in DoTA and HoN where you end up with 2-3 active abilities often (a lot are passives). You almost always have 6 active abilities with your champions in LoL (not counting more with items). The fights take more coordination in LoL and you usually can't just spam your abilities and win.
Sorry, LoL is much tougher to get good at then DoTA and HoN for several reasons. I know this first hand as I've played all of them more than most. It didn't take me very long to get good in HoN after playing DoTA for a long time. However, when it came to LoL and all the nuances and various facets it took a much longer time to become good at any single champion. In HoN I can pick any champ and do decent with little practice. In LoL it's a different story.
In Lol you can't deny creeps, you don't lose cash on death, you can't even drop items on the ground.. In Dota you can do all of the above. Lol doesn't require the same skill level and it's easier for noobs.

I love how all the HoN fanboys say LoL is a casual game compared to DoTA and HoN. I've played all of the games a lot and can state with certainty that LoL takes more skill and a longer time with each champion to become "good" with it. Many more skills and the need to combo with teammates and use tactics instead of spamming your 2-3 active abilities in HoN. I have thousands of games played in each, doesn't take long to get good with a champ in HoN compared to LoL. So much more to learn in LoL.

@jameshodgeslegal About spamming abilities, I'm pretty sure lol has more skill shots, higher mana pool & mana regen (or energy), along with a much shorter cooldown, and to top it off, more active skills yes. There are no penalties for death, no ability to control gameflow with denail, and a smaller map helping restrict the ONLY *tactic* (to learn) as teamfighting. Thousands I assume is 2000+, so 6000. 1 hour each /4 hours a day 5 days a week = 6 years minimum. LoL came out 6 years ago?

@DaMuffin127 i agree with you, i think that there is a uniquety in ever MOBA. DOTA for example is unique by denial, creep pulling, creeps worth more money and carries that need to be super fed. LOL has cool down reduction, new champ every 2 weeks, runes/masteries and AP which lets spells become stronger. I havent played HoN yet but i am sure it has some good features.
what im trying to say is that instead of trying to convince others you like a certain game JUST PLAY IT!

Without Dota > no LoL, without the huge success of LoL > no Dota2 because Valve needed to see that to start making the game.
Still give my vote to Dota2 i have amazing times playing it.

I have played dota and lol and hon, I like them all I have played 2300 games in LoL and I was very good, I like hon a bit more I have played like 350 games in hon I just like it cuz its harder then lol and ofc I like other stuff in hon as well. but I lay my vote on dota becuz I dont like LoL that much anymore.

league of legends heroes out every two weeks also new issues every two weeks. regulates how powerful they are the heroes. gives not as the heroes there are over power. as techies have a stun in area of6 seconds. came a new hero today. lol have a story!

Oh,guys you will never stop comparing these two games.LoL fans acuse Dota fans of stealing the game from them and most of the LoL players don't even know LoL's creators.Dota fans are so mad that start swearing and insulting just because they think that Dota is better.Well here's what i think.DotA is much more a teamplay game and in order to win a game you have to farm 40 min.
LoL is much more solo and all you do is casting your spells as fast as possible and ganking the enemy team.Both are good.

XD I agree with you, but there's one tiny mistake I'd like to address. There's scaling in dota that's different from LoL agreed? There is gold loss upon death in DotA, agreed? So while someone who's a late gamer is farming for 40 mins, what do you think an early game type would do? Farm or kill/harass?

I think the all these Lol is too easy players should come and reach 2k elo in LOL since its so easy....They probably came in at level 1 and killed a bunch of people who haven't even played a moba before and didn't reach 30 and play in high ranked games. The community is also much better in Lol as well and its not even close.

@expert775 don't do it. don't go to dota2. dota is not a game about skill spamming and team fighting. it's about tactics such as pressure, trickery, and abusing strategies. also there is loss of gold upon death and actual early mid and late game scaling for heroes. there are so many items and so many ways to not only play but to win. A team that is clearly stronger can still lose even if they do perfect in all teamfights. :|

Scratching my head to try and think what LoL pressure could be that can top missing literally half the creep waves creating a situation where one side is half the level of the other side, which can happen because of DotA hero scaling over time. Trickery that can top Invisibility or Illusions (rare neutral buffs)? And DotAs strategy and roles (not just build) changes in response to the situation making hero skill combo strategies obsolete in comparison.

Come on man,you can do better than that.LoL is much more ganking and nothing else.In LoL there are not even items that can be cast at enemys or even yourself (except for healing/mana) so that automatically makes it harder than LoL just because of the fact that you have tons of hotkeys to press.

All I have to say about HoN is; really, a new DotA with bad graphics, heros and interface. HoN is free now because it flopped and they need people to play it. LoL seems good and different to DotA which is good. DotA 2 is made by valve yes, but they don't make a million games and icefrog works there now to make sure it's up to his high standards. valve are known for their mods, that's what they do so don't worry 'bout it.

Denying creeps and losing gold on death has jack shit to do with skill difficulty. It takes more skill and practice to be good with a particular champion in LoL then it does in DoTA and HoN where you end up with 2-3 active abilities often (a lot are passives). You almost always have 6 active abilities with your champions in LoL (not counting more with items). The fights take more coordination in LoL and you usually can't just spam your abilities and win.

Sorry, LoL is much tougher to get good at then DoTA and HoN for several reasons. I know this first hand as I've played all of them more than most. It didn't take me very long to get good in HoN after playing DoTA for a long time. However, when it came to LoL and all the nuances and various facets it took a much longer time to become good at any single champion. In HoN I can pick any champ and do decent with little practice. In LoL it's a different story.

In Lol you can't deny creeps, you don't lose cash on death, you can't even drop items on the ground.. In Dota you can do all of the above. Lol doesn't require the same skill level and it's easier for noobs.
