I would like to point out that the ammo/heat cheats are NOT enabled, I watched heat build up and ammo decrease... my complaint about this vid is how much time he spends tweaking the crosshairs around and not firing at the enemies, even when all his weapons are up and is sitting at zero heat. Gets pretty boring

Put 2 CLBX20 on a Summoner and it works quite well, maybe add some SSRM4's and a HML makes it a not bad brawler.

Yeah I have the same problem with mad cat. That center torso is such a huge target. I fixed it (in solaris) by using special armor (usually reactive) stripping it a bit down on arms, legs and both sides and maxing it on central torso and head. Then I fit 2 CLRM20 and 2 PPC / ERPPC and finally got it working.

That's a design flaw with most 'Mechs that becomes obvious in MW (if not in Battletech) - if it makes the most sense to aim for centre mass, why would you put your most sensitive components there?

the guy does have a point. mechwarrior uses tank controls and is entirely Artillery based. I can react faster than a mech in mechwarrior allows me to so i always feel abit cheated. Mechwarrior does have some cool stuff though.

Well...

If you like Arcade and Anime, play Armored Core. The Botz have a breaking neck acceleration with nitro and a ridiculous armor strength.

If you like Sims and a huge universe with scientific research, play MechWarrior 2 and 3. The Mechs are slow, because the game think in physics first. I don't like MechWarrior 4 because is a FPS.

yeah it's basically that..however i do like simulation..for example i'd like to be able to control in the cockpit of say a mobile suit to test to see if i can work it all. those things move fast yet they have intricate systems. If you like mechwarrior style you may want to try gundam side story for dreamcast i think it's called..it's nigh on a clone.

If you cant find any good cover, dog fight with the enemy. Run circles in any direction, around the mech. This can confuse both AI and other players alike. It's really you who knows what move youll do next, or what weapon your planning on using, or what part of the mechwarrior mech your planning to disable first. If its Gauss or PPC, I usually aim for those first. By then, the Mech is softened enough to start pounding the center torso. Trith is how fast you take a mech down doesnt always matter.

The Rt of building a good Mech takes anyone much practice. I personally still havent found one I speciffically like over any other. The basic thing is to learn how each mech works, and what weapons it works best with. Not what weapons you want to use always, but for the type of mech it is. I can say I have built some pretty nasty medium mechs, that can kill in 3 shots or if Im feeling extra acurate 2.

But anyway, the guy played with standard configuration, he didn't modify the Mechs. His flaws are many though: he didn't really take advantage of the ground, kept himself exposed to the Bushwacker and wasted shots while lockin his LRMs. In my rehearsal I first took out Argus' ballistics, then Bwacker's missile pod. I used my JJets to stay clear of interlocking fire and also snipe at Argus' wounded side. 2 mins, 12 secs.

LRMs are not sensitive to different armours, are relatively cheap and have a good punch at any range. They lock on automatically and puts mechs off balance with impact, even knockin them down. Give a Catapult and the only way you can win is sniping with Gauss Rifles (good luck with my JumpJets!) or... with even more LRMs!!!

on the last lvl of mechwarrior 3 i took the biggest mech and loaded it up with so many long range missles that every time i fired my mech shut itself down instantaneously, i'd hit 'o' to override but i had too many missles

no offense but your mech choice is bad and you have a bad weapons load out aswell.

Try a thanatos 2 rotary auto cannon 2's( if this is mercenaries) and a light guass or arror IV thunderbolt.

Those LRMS aint doing much at that range. If you have the ranged capacity then aim to keep it. 360 torso twist means you can max speed AWAY from these shorter range sphere 'mechs.

The way I did it was hide in a heavy (jjs) and wait for most of the bots to kill eachother with a little energy based sniper assistance from myself, then pick-off the survivors.

I was in a stock league. It's not as easy as you think. Anyone can loud up a bunch of uber weps and core mechs all day but it takes skill to be consistent at stock configs.
