Won't work at my school, they block all executable, all settings, and have a whitelist so only sites they specifically allow will work. Without finding an exploit in the system and doing a real hack, it's impossible to get around. Luckily I bring my BlackBerry to school ;)

My schools network is set up so that when you try to get out onto the internet you connect to the schools proxy then you connect to the kent proxy then to the internet changing the setting will fail to get past the 1st proxy. And all external proxy sites have been banned also we are running ubuntu 10.10 not a windows OS. if you have any ideas plz share lol

@playerjosh14 Run ssh (look into the -D flag) over proxychains with both proxies in the proxychains configuration file. Set Firefox SOCKS proxy to localhost:#port number specified after -D flag in ssh#

If you use Windows look into PuTTY.

All of those methods works only when you have an administrator (or advanced user) account and mostly you wouldn't have such access. On WinXP you can always try to logout, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice and check if local (not in domain) username Administrator has been locked with password (by default it isn't) and if so you can install the software that will allow you to change proxy settings after logging in with your normal (domain) username and password.

The problem is, that most schools do not block sites using a program on the actual computer you may be using, but on the school's routers. So. Unless you have any unlocked proxies or complete access to the router, there's not much of anything you can do.

to those of you who have proxy's blocked, use google translate, set it to translate from a foerign language to english, say youtube, it will try to translate it and fail, show it as it should be, and al will be well, basically it works as a proxy and is very rarely blocked :)

Also, proxy sites have been catagorized as 'Proxy Avoidance' site which have been blocked. Editiing Registry values is disabled. I'd like to remind everyone of basic internet security: If you us any proxy and log into a website like facebook or myspace, the proxy has the opportunity to take your password. This becomes even more of a problem with paypal or if you user your credit card.

I'm not saying any of the sites mentioned do that... Feel free to use the service, just keep in mind that there is a very real risk.

here is a way to get past a blocked site. go to tools on the internet explorer toolbar, then go to internet options, then go to connections, then go to LAN settings, and type in the url that you want to unblock, its that simple. but the side effect is that that is the only website that it will go to unless you turn it off temporarily
