To all those who believe a govn't run healthcare system would be better than a private one I ask this question: If it's the PEOPLE who run the private health insurance companies that you don't believe in, then why do you believe in the PEOPLE that would run a govn't healthcare system? You can't tell me there's any difference. If you're greedy and corrupt in the private sector then you're going to be just as greedy and corrupt in the public sector, maybe even more so.
@ipxzor The last 4 paragraphs of James Madisonsn's (The father of the Constitution) Federalist no. 41 blows this arguement out of the water. Its a shame the courts took Hamiltons word for it. Especially after he missed more days of the consitutional convention than he attended. How do you explain the enumerated powers if they could already do anything they want in the name of "general welfare"? YOU CANT!

"general welfare of the United States"
There is you "in" to get into health care. Also
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises"
Thus you have the funding and the legal right to tax and to implement it for the general welfare of Americans.
Lastly as bling said "regulate commerce" means that the federal government can regulate ANY industry including health care.
Same reasoning is used in Australia who's constitution is modeled on the US one.

To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;
