  • As for daytime, NBC had a "Full Color" schedule (with "CONCENTRATION", their last black and white morning show, finally telecast in color after November 1966) in '66; CBS slowly converted virtually all of their daytime shows to color by 1968 (repeats of "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" were the last black and white telecasts in 1969), while ABC lagged behind, until early 1968 [some black and white episodes of "BEWITCHED" were repeated into the early '70s].

  • This was a "test" episode [originally telecast on February 27, 1966], to see how the show would look in color. CBS was planning to renew the series for a tenth season- and KNEW they had to convert all of their remaining black and white series {including "THE WILD WILD WEST" and "LOST IN SPACE"} to color for 1966-'67, as all three networks scheduled 100% color shows in prime-time that fall. However, "PERRY MASON"'s ratings were such {opposite NBC's "BONANZA"} that the network cancelled it.

  • From the fall of 1966 on every prime time network series was in color. I'm not even sure if there were any daytime shows in color after that. NBC was almost all color in it's 1965 season (the only prime-time exceptions: "I Dream Of Jeannie" and "Convoy"). Knowing that NBC would not have a B&W show left when the 1966 season premiered, CBS and ABC decided not to be outdone and also planned to go completely color that year. Had Perry Mason been renewed, it definitely would have been in color too.

  • Let's solve this bitch, Perry. Slap the judge with your massive dolphin. And by dolphin I mean aquatic mammal.

  • The color looks tinted, but I guess it isn't...

  • @Fruth37 It does kind of. This was from a VHS off of FOX 28.

Actually my perception after seeing the enitre episode, is that they continued both the filming and lighting styles as used for monochrome Black and White episodes. To me this was very highly evident during the dark picture court room scenes and also a couple of outdoor scenes. I havent watched this series for years, but my absolute favorite part of this ONLY ONE IN COLOR episode is when you get to see Perry Mason's office!

  • Looks like Perry accidentally showed up on a Saturday
