Sacramento is in Sacramento county and this video is a Sac City ambulance . We also have Sac Meto fire which has grown much larger than the city fire department .
The EQ2B is nice, before anyone asks about those 3 letters, a lot of the trucks in Northern California has those 3 letters, for whatever city they're from, In this case, Sacramento is SCR, then Menlo Park, CA is MNP, and so forth and so on
@swertinge07 Air scatters blue light, that's why the sky is blue. Red light is scattered much less, which is why at sunset the sun turns orange. However, at night, blue lights can be an advantage for visibility because cars' taillights are red, so flashing red lights would blend in with them, but blue would draw attention much more quickly. Blue lights are generally reserved for police, or in some states, for volunteer firefighters to use as a "courtesy light".
@FireExplorerPC Except it is proven to be a more effective color option that just red. There is a reason why dozens of states are allowing blue on Fire/EMS units. It is much more visible and much safer for crews operating. Red/Blue/Amber lighting works. It has been proven... fuck traditional bullshit. This is people's lives.
@FireExplorerPC First off, I never mentioned nor discussed white. I was discussing using red and blue and amber. White is only advisable on the front end. So again your point is moot. Obviously white is brighter than blue. But you don't put white all over an emergency vehicle. As for this "load of shit" Go do some independent research. Blue is a highly visible color on the color spectrum and is extremely useful in a multitude of situations on the road.
@SpartanML Here (and in most European countries), emergency vehicles are only allowed blue lights and are also allowed front facing white lights and rear facing flashing red lights. White rear facing lights are a really bad idea... having a mix of colours isn't really good either. Blue is better than a mix of blue, red and amber, for example. And I hate the idea of red forward facing lights...
@04smallmj However again studies have shown a strategic use of red, blue, and amber is extremely useful as the different colors excel in different situations. Each color has their merrits. All blue in the US depending on what region you are in denotes either a volunteer operating their POV or Law enforcement. The US is a very interesting place in this sense. Different color rules are decided on a state by state basis. There is no universal agreement on lighting colors just yet.

Why RED lights? It is the worst light for getting attention, tahts why combat lights are red. Blue on the other hand travels farther...

Damn that is quite the lighting package. I am impressed. If only Cali allowed for some blue lighting on Fire/EMS units.
