  • Man, you've got a great childhood

  • boards of canada: brings back your childhood

  • and now in 480p!

  • pause it at 4:04 that expression is worth a million words....

  • I love you.

  • woooooaaahhh... i felt like I was watching my own childhood, home movies...

  • writing on the wall at 5:09 = secret alien message

  • Thanks for sharing this.

  • Woah! nostalgicness is taking over my brain right now!

  • This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing!

    (:

  • I wish I had a video like this.

  • U captured the essence of this song perfectly in this video.

  • This track made me cry once.

  • I love specially the moment in 4:13, after you got a gift and suddenly you seem lost.

  • I cried. I can so easily see this as me and my dad. I miss the way he used to be.

  • Your family sure knows how to enjoy life. Again, I envy you. My mom tried, stepdad loved drugs more. Oh well, I guess its common these days. I turned out OK, but wish every day I had times like you did...I love your video so much.

  • I guess you're about my age...40? The cars seem older, but ...oh wait, a newer Thunderbird than the time period I thought it was in. Guessing 1882 From the cameras and the shorts and the glasses. I missed all those years with my son. Tragic. I envy you.

  • If and when the human race ends, I'd like this to be the definitive document of what it was to be a person. Heartbreakingly beautiful.

  • I know. We that knew how great the world was, even though we didn't realize it, are an aging and dying demographic. Sorry to be a bummer. But it will be a long time before the world is that great again. The last 60 years were a golden age. The next ones who experience anything like this will be generations from now. If.

  • I'm REALLY missing the 70s... the 80s... the 90s were... o-k-a-y...

    2000: everything faded into grey.

2010: people stop talking with each other, ICQ, blogs, twitter - SHIT!

missing the good ol' times (never ever wanted to say that)

  • awesome job. you're lucky to have footage like this.

  • god damn the curse of age

  • 16mm works so prefectly with this song.

  • man back then an electric bike wouldve been the shit!! :D

  • masterpiece of sound!

  • Muito bom!

  • Im sure your dad loved it. did he ? Its pretty special.

  • Really captures the feeling of BOC's music! Good job!

  • that was incredible! thank you from the bottom of my heart :D

  • man...

this shows love towards the child-being.

Respect and love is given to the child's world.

This is something very beautiful man. One of the most beautiful things you can do in your life. good job, good job.

  • Excellent!!!

  • brilliant video.

  • video and music= magic fusion!!

  • Way better than the video of the monkey people riding bikes together. The one was just plain disturbing.

  • beautiful. i like how you used footage from your childhood, BoC are good at creating nostalgia :-) very beautiful <3

  • nice memories

  • Watching this vid was the first time I heard this BOC track. Now when I listen to it on the High Scores EP, I picture this video. I think this works because this was exactly the kind of nostalgia BOC was trying to produce on this cut. Nice Job! I don't know if there is an official vid for this song, but I doubt anyone could do better than this.

  • Buffalo wings are pretty good.

  • Wow, this is fantastic. I have to get my super8 footage digitized now.

  • nice job... and even nicer pube!@1;08 looks ilke a cool childhood bro.

  • great job!

  • amazing, really Excellent job!!!!!

  • Boards of Canada makes life more beautiful.

  • This tune frightens me. It is a dream, you know you like the feeling. Yet your memory is so limited, your mental capacity is limited in this dream, yet you do not sense the limitation because you are in a dream. You still like it because you do not know that you are being limited. You want this feeling to be forever, yet it frightens you and you know you do not want it to be forever, but forever only in your dreams.

  • IDK, it's how I see it. You guys may see it differently. But in the end, it's a beautiful tune after all.

  • awesome, you're on level 9 too, don't sleep homie.

  • @LeDaveee

Could not have said it better myself.

  • @LeDaveee Way to over analyze it.

  • this is beautiful.

  • Brilliant for all the reasons already pointed out.

    Excellent job, mate!

  • never seen something special like this

  • Amazing video :)!

  • normally i could give a fuck about some kids riding bikes but boc makes everything all better :)

  • So true :P

  • the tricycle part is perfect, but after that it shows a lot of over-sentimentality. That is your choice---if you want to make videos that will have more meaning to people close to you. But I think it could be made more universal with a different development of footage after the introduction. Still, I enjoy watching these kids, happy times.

  • Excellent montage

  • This is exactly what I think of when I hear this track. One of the best BoC videos ever--captures everything that the duo aims for in their music.

  • Love boards of canada. Mellow and dreamy.

  • wow 5/5

  • this is amazing

  • Music has the right to children is all about kid stuff.

  • Haha, that Ernie doll.. scary man..

  • Rodox Video isn't in this; that's a short, separate song entirely. Both parts of this are actually Everything You Do Is A Balloon.

  • So cool!

  • haha, the song lends quite a sinister air to your childhood dude! Really enjoyed that quite intimate sharing of your childhood with the world. Encapsulated perfectly that feeling of nostalgia we all seem to feel from BoC's music. Wherever they are, they must be proud of their effect on people! :)

  • love the intro and footage. great job on the video.

  • I love this.

Not to sound morbid but this should be played at your funeral. Would make a huge impact.

I wish my parents filmed me as a child.

I'm guessing this is from the mid 70's.

  • This is beautiful, and you are awesome for making this. Thank you! 10/5

  • these videos r from ur childhood??? wow this project must have been very inspiring to do 5/5

  • As a father, :55 melts my heart.

  • this video fits the song so well, especially the intro. amazing job

  • really, really nice work!

  • when i first heard this song it triggered these same images in my mind.

how beautiful. the creator has done a job that transcends time and space. and taps into a sort of inter-consciousness.

I am relatively new to Boards of Canada, after watching this I definitely plan to buy some music.

  • Ive always liked this kind of stuff...very nostalgic in a sense...creative idea! I love it!

  • being a child is the most important thing

  • Comment removed

  • The video fits the music perfectly. Everything you do is a balloon gives off this very feeling of worn but fond memories, at least the first half does.

    Very nostalgic. 5/5

  • This is a thing of beauty. Captures the mood of the song. and it makes me long for thes moments again in my life. Great job, and man, this has to be a personal triumph for you!

  • brilliant, really. I was blown away by the bicycle safety video for this song, but this one is just as good or better. It's just like BoC's music... warm, nostalgic, yet vaguely distant. Nice job man.

  • This music always triggers nostalgia in me, but I don't have anything to be nostalgic about.

    Nice video dude!

  • Lovely tune and lovely video bud, you caught the spirit of BOC on this one.

  • This is awesome. Very well done.

  • is this an EP, or is it off some album I do not know about?

    Great vid!

  • it's on the Hi Scores EP. It was originally on BOC Maxima, but if you're looking to get an original copy I believe the first time it was released(other than boc maxima) was on a sampler that Skam records put out in '97. Hope that helps!

  • Thanks for the info! I hope to find this one way or another

  • There's something extremely deeeeeeeeeep in these sounds and that hypnoooootic title! Awesome, awesome.

  • amazing tune, good vid

  • By far the best video / tune on youtube. Thanks for sharing..

  • Very cool.

  • Nice for a nice track!

    Thank you

  • BOC perfectly catches nostalgia, its like a holding a ballon on a piece of string its always behind you but will also always be out of reach.

This video makes me sad, but its beautiful aswell. Its like I want you and your dad to have stayed the same in the video and not have gotten old.

    :S

    I like it!

  • You're description reminds me of the video to Damien Rice's 9 Crimes...you may not be into him but check the video out, you'll see what I mean.

  • Yeah I like his music, not so much the videos.

    Have you seen Closer>?

His vocals really complement that film.

  • beautiful.

  • you knew you were gonna make a video that was gonna require such amazing footage! you planned it from conception, you fake. :)

    nice video though.

  • thank you for for such a cool video

  • I love the part when you (?) knock the vase over and then the look at your mom's face :)

  • This makes the hairs on my back stand up. One of the best fan made BOC videos EVER.

  • took my breath away

  • this is sweet as a nut. I cant tell you how good this is !

  • watching this gives me a very nostalgic feeling, it is very interesting to look back upon the past

  • Far out man... earth to boc...earth to boc...)

  • I can see clearly now.............throu music we can exspand and provoke the masses into anything....music has the power to control and destroy

  • but not this one. this is class a music!

  • I mean, this one doesn't control or destroy, this awakes you..

  • Perfect.

  • It's a wonder how the entire interpretation of the video can be changed in such a massive way just by adding music.

  • I'ts beautiful

  • overall, an epic win

  • Such a perfect match the video and music!!

Check out my BoC covers. :)

  • second to none

  • Love this! The music and video rock, very well done imo, love the grainy analogue picture too. reminds me of beeing a kid again

  • WHOA it is little ario

  • this song gets better every time i hear it, some of the most relaxing music iv ever heard

  • Brilliant job - could pass as an official vid, but of course the chaps have only officially released one so far -for 'Dayvan Cowboy'. This would also go well with 'Kid for Today'

  • the music goes with the video! This is awesome!16 mm rocks too bad everything is digital!

  • wonderful video, I don't know how many times I've seen it so far...

  • Wonderful video! Amazing job!

This song turned me onto BoC in serious fashion. Every one of their tracks is a masterpiece of engineering :-D

    Analog FTMFW!

  • you really did a great job on this. wow. and I love your childhood.

  • Does anybody know why they're called Boards of Canada?

  • National Film Board of Canada

  • Boards of canada gives me a feeling of love.

  • Ive heard that their music messed with peoples heads. I like it! :)

  • Really really good. You captured the visual atmosphere I think of when I listen to Boards of Canada. Nostalgia at it's best.

  • Quite possibly the best fan video ever made. And deep down, even a jaded person might shed a tear.

  • agreed - possibly their best track ever.. the texture of the 16mm is perfect. i visualise things like planes and atmospheric phenomena when i hear this track though personally. good work though :-)

  • You've clearly got a gift. The visuals are perfect and I'm not just saying that because I'm high.

  • The music is beautiful, but at the same time sinister and unsettling...

  • best.boc.song.ever

  • A tip of the cap to you! Great selection & video to match perfectly.

    Huzar

  • wow great footage I really thougt is was BOC making this you know how they have their covers with memories, good job and thanks for sharing your awesome and so is BOC and anyone who listens to them, the time is now.

  • one of the greatest video's for one of the greatest songs

  • Wow,really beautiful ,magic song and great video!

  • Just how i pictured this song. A video sharing childhood memories.

    Truly brilliant, thanks for sharing.

  • There's something VERY powerful about the song, I don't know what it is but it gets my eyes watering every single time. Simply beautiful. The images suit it very will, I bet BoC would be very happy about it. I love old video footage..cute kid. :)

  • I know what it is..

    it's BoC-magic

  • Dude, this is so great. The music is great and your video makes it even greater. Wow. Thanks for sharing.

  • well suited. my fave BOC track...ever. beautiful. the 16mm is great :D the watering can part is my fave.

  • I cried for the first time in 10 years.

  • Extremely well suited for a BOC song. That's one of my favorite songs, too.

  • this is wonderful !

  • Honestly. This footage, especially its vintage, is perfect for the song.

  • so amazing. all of BoC really grabs my heart, its just so beautiful.

  • this makes me cry

  • jazzed out footage syncronization! Nothing like sentimentality...

  • Yjis video is Monumental. If i were BOC i would give this vid first prize

  • Wonderful footage, and it's perfect for this music. I do think you missed a trick though, some creative editing would have really helped to compliment the more sinister and surreal side of BoC.

  • This is awesome, great job man.

  • Love it.

  • this is great.

  • Great Job!

  • where do you guys get the footage?

  • my dad.

  • awesome.....it's to bad video does not look like that anymore...it's like black&white photography...there's so much more life to it.

  • This was the right direction to go in. I would, however, invest in a video editing software because you could do some really interesting stuff with the footage you have. You could better utilize the drumming stuff and loop it in time and randomly show bits and pieces of everything else building around that. Good start...

  • great stuff!

  • I agree with teebanks ...B.O.C. is verry personal and I think the only good video for a boc one is the filmreel spinning in yr menthol mind ..and this one's

ok but ...looks to much like the COVER OF ' MUSIC HAS THE RIGHT BLA BA ..

    LEAVE IT

The begining was okish (little guy on bike ) the rest had nothing to tell ...if you wanna play with visuals you got to bring over the feeling ...don't be to subjective ......

  • there is no story to tell w/ BOC otherwise it would have been cheesy in my opinion. BOC is very go-with-the-flow, like stream of consciousness, which is what this video reflects. a person reflecting on happy moments of childhood, like a walk through their brain. enjoyed the trip. (drug free too haha)

  • BOC is also just about remembering childhood memories and that's simply what he was showing, I don't know why you would think only the bike part was alright.

  • What the hell is a menthol mind? Don't post an opinion until you've actually thought it out (if you're even capable of that much) enough to articulate it without sounding like a complete Neanderthal.

  • this is great

  • Amazing video.

  • I love this piece of music. Boards of canada officially rule. what you've done here goes so amazingly well with the song and captures a great atmosphere.

  • this is also my favorite boards song

  • I guess? Why do people think they can just put up old footage of childhood and its all BoC. So everyones footage of childhood has a BoC feel. Come on people I have footage of my sister taking a dump in the tub in 1974, you gonna call that art(granted it is precious to me)?

  • taking a dump in a tub isn't very BoC at all dude.

  • Glad you let me in that. I was in thinking of setting it to Olson or something like that. I must of been out of my mind.

  • This came out real nice =) you made great use of this awesome boc track.

  • beautiful

  • they just keep throwing those killer melodies at you ..boc rule...incredible these guys..

  • this is incredible. your family is lovely.

  • this should be made into a offical boards of canada video its that good! you captuered every aspect of it!!!

  • beautiful :)

  • Just to clear things up, this video was made in 2004. Mine was made half way through 2005. It's quite interesting that two videos came up with very similiar usage of family home video tapes and even used the same song! The link to my video is up ahead.

  • and that was a painful mistake, but you get to watch classic cinema!

sorry for that folks, here is the real link

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PumH8i60adQ

  • my hats off to you . your super 8 footage really captures boards of canadas music correctly .i think the reason they have only one video , is that there music means something unique for each person who hears it ( it means a lot to me ) so there for the visuals should be user defined .
