  • Thank you for sharing. I just wanted to know if the bandages don't compromise circulation given the mastectomy you had and need for adequate circulation.

  • @Edisana no issues at all with that - so long as the tubes don't get kinked which they shouldn't. :)

  • I just used a fanny pack under a wide t-shirt

  • Yes Harrisjandc, there are many products that can be purchased for this purpose, but most people have just 1 mastectomy so to buy something that will be used only one time is silly - most don't know they'll have drains till they actually have them - most people don't research these things ahead of time when amidst the scary and daunting cancer diagnosis and early treatment phase. My method is cheap (or free if ppl have bandages in the house already) and accessible same day when needed!

  • The SOFTEE recovery camisole helps with drains and shape after surgery - it was created by a survivor and has been prescribed by surgeons for many years. It's not very expensive and medicare and most insurance cover it!

  • thanks for sharing. your courage is inspiring.

  • yayyy! thank you for your tips! i am going to get my ace bandages and this out. my nipple reconstruction is on wednesday and when i had my bi lateral mastectomy i didnt leave for anywhere for about a month because i had alot of drainning to the point where even with the tubing out. my fluid was drained from my back and sides through syringe so your tip will help me out exponentially. again thank you and god bless with your survivorship.
