Ok, reality update... What we know for sure after 70 years next to soviets... Finland has pretty nice ground-to-air defence (single unit can pop with automatic lock 16 units out from sky far away in seconds...), there is lots of underground stuff, well defended infra (even against emp), and we can build nukes to take out St. Petersburg and Moscow in few hours...

Morale is down, alcoholism has risen. Their last good fighter plane is the Mig 29 Fulgrum. Russia is facing a financial crisis.
A fair 2% of the conscripts are educated and get to deal with this kind of machinery. The other 98% is trained to cope with our secret weapon 'vitutus' which enables us to guard for this equipement in a godforsaken part of our land near some insignificant warehouse.

the assault rifle family is designed by and built in Finland, as are many of the vehicles and artillery gear that the FDF use. Admittedly, we have F16s and they are American, but they are modern and far superior to anything that your 30 year old infrastructure can put together

Nooo! I'm very surprised. As a man of experience, where would you reccomend? And what do they do at Parola? I'm around Kouvola, and having discarded Vekaranjarvi, I see my choices as Santahamina or Immola. But Parola is an equal distance too.
As I have no experience in the other places, I can't really compare them. But Parola is famous for getting all the new equipment last, when it isn't new anymore. On the other hand, Parola is the only Panzer Brigade, so if you're interested in tanks, Parola is you're choice.

There are about 5,2milijon inhabitants in Finland and nearly all men between 18-60 years are in its reserve. And let's not forget the female soldiers...

@KingN123 Ei ne nyt tällä hetkellä mihinkään hyökkäämässä ole. mutta aika selväksi ovat tehneet että jos natoon liitytään niin suhteet huonenee huomattavasti, ja oli siellä joku kenraali jo uhkaillut jopa sotatoimilla estää Suomen natoon liittyminen.

@SuperFinnish Jos Suomi liittyisi Natoon, niin se olisi parasta mitä sotilasliitolle on vähään aikaan käynyt. Tosin Ruotsin nykyinen pääministeri ja pääministeriehdokas sanoi että "Ruotsi ei liity Natoon ilman Suomen suostumusta". Liitytään vaan kummatkin, Ruotsi ja Suomi, niin eipä Venäjä siinä kauheasti voi estellä.

@OnlyLifeMatters Miten se olisi NATOn kannalta hyvä että nille tulee reilut 1000 kilometriä lisää rajaa Venäjän kanssa, en tiedä Venäjän virallista kantaa mutta jotkut kenraalit ovat sanoneet että Suomen mahdollinen NATO jäsenyys aiheuttaisi tietty Suomi - Venäjä suhteiden heikentymisen mutta myös mahdollisen aseellisen selkkauksen.

@SuperFinnish Natolle se olisi hyvä juuri rajan takia? Venäjää voitaisiin pitää silmällä jäämereltä mustalle merelle saakka. Sitäpaitsi, Suomen armeja koostuu 357 000 sotilaasta sodan aikana, joten se olisi hyvin suuri lisä Naton jo ennestään suuriin joukkoihin.

the assault rifle family is designed by and built in Finland, as are many of the vehicles and artillery gear that the FDF use. Admittedly, we have F16s and they are American, but they are modern and far superior to anything that your 30 year old infrastructure can put together

Whethe it turns out to be true depends entirely where you will serve. There are good places to serve in and then there's Parola. My driver got asthma from the water damaged, mold growth ridden barracks. So yeah, good luck.

Nooo! I'm very surprised. As a man of experience, where would you reccomend? And what do they do at Parola? I'm around Kouvola, and having discarded Vekaranjarvi, I see my choices as Santahamina or Immola. But Parola is an equal distance too.

As I have no experience in the other places, I can't really compare them. But Parola is famous for getting all the new equipment last, when it isn't new anymore. On the other hand, Parola is the only Panzer Brigade, so if you're interested in tanks, Parola is you're choice.

Many army vehicles are from Russia, they don't sell them so much to countries where they really would attack like Georgia or something. Btw you talked about resources.. Well Finland has uranium, good land and sea. 90% of worlds transport goes with ships on sea not with airplanes or trucks

we already joined european union, we dont need to join NATO just because everyone else is.
and only 25-30% of finnish population support joining into NATO. so if there doesnt come some dramatic chances in russia-finnish relations you wont be seeing us in the NATO.

What do you think that Sweden or Norway would think if Russia would occupy our country.. after that they could occupy hole Scandinavia. So we probably would not fight alone.

@Lazuotut not true. Finland is, for an example, one of the only 8 countries in the whole world that use the MRLS system. It is really sophisticated missile launching platform, and if it is armed with artillery missiles it's range would be 300 kilometers. Heck, we could strike St. Petersburg to pieces from Helsinki. FDF is also one of the world's most high tech armies.

First off, seems like you buy any piece of propaganda anyone puts out there regarding the FDF. Secondly, which MRLS system do you mean? Do you mean one in general? Because only about every army in the world has a MRLS in their disposal.
One of the world's most high tech armies? Not by a long shot. I don't know about you, but I've seen the true FDF with my own eyes, not only the PR pictures most see... But it's the best they can manage with the current (pathetic) budget they get.

@Lazuotut MRLS doesn't equal with rocket launcer. MRLS is often associated with an capability to launch an artillery missile or SRBM that have range of 300 kilometers. Finland have those, not "every army in the world".

Nice 'Katyusha' type rocket artillery at 1.24-26 - a lot more rounds than our MLRS and on a light truck, lot more airportable than tracked armour chassis - what is the name of this system please?

@BaFUD Vain itä-Saksa kalusto on vanhenemassa. Itse asiassa auton radiosta sanottiin että tulee uusi modernisointi Suomen puolustusvoimiin.
Ruotsilla on vain 57 000 miestä Norjalla 72 000 ja Tanskalla 20 000. Eli vähemmän yhteensä kuin Suomella joten, Suomi on etulyönti asemassa.

Kyllä, Suomella on etulöynti sotilasmäärässä, mutta pointtina oli, että ei tarvitse väheksyä kuitenkaan Norjaa yms. Loistavia sotilaita sielläkin on joilta löytyisi yhtä lailla tahtoa puolustaa omaa maata.
