  • I didn't know gameboy color's had video camera's on them.

  • the recording is really bad..but it's the best performance of this song.

  • I'd probably enjoy this if it wasn't a potato recording.

  • words cannot describe how good the Cocteau Twins were.

    they created their own world.

Would have been really interesting if they has continued and gone down the electronica route a bit more....

  • horribly! hotit!

  • They sound better with the years... never did she sing this more perfectly before, and I've seen them live often since 1986... she and Guthrie leave me breathless.

  • esta version esta chida

  • great live version, love the undulating effects in the background, almost creepy. liz looks hot around 0.45

  • me gusta mucho esta version

  • so good!

  • with mark clifford i guess?

  • Check out Mew for a new band that has some of the same intelligence/good vibes. A lot of the great spirit is actually in Metal now, but few can cross the boundaries between the two.

  • come to israel.....

  • Such a special band.. from such a special time in my life.. I remeber first seeing the Treasure album at the local record store bought it and I was blown away and a fan from then on..

I had a chance to see them in 1994 in Phx and could not make it.. still bummed as I knew that would be one of the last chances I would get to see them live.. They do not make groups like this anymore.. Todays music stinks..

  • "Todays music stinks.. "

That's what I thought about the 80's too for a time. (Yeah, I'm a really old codger) But this group changed all that for me, along with Dead Can Dance and other 4AD artists. "Ivo" was the song that first did it for me. Maybe there's some great creative music out there today too. You just don't find it as easily as you start having more and more responsibility, etc.

  • Don't give up hope...they almost reformed three or four years ago for...Coalchelia?? (Sp). Where there's life there's hope.

  • I agree with you my friend...

  • @wardka Very well said! There's always good, great, and crap music, writing, film, etc. being made. What is good/great/crap is up to individual opinion. But, as you said, as personal responsibilities increase, we have less time to invest in seeking out new stuff we may enjoy, or even love. Droves of people made the same 'today's music stinks' comment about music 20, 40, even 60 and more years ago. True, some genres fade and even disappear, more or less, but keep looking.

  • Stunning!!

  • mamacita linda!!!!

  • The Deftones version is pretty awesome too, on the B-sides and rarities 2-CD.

  • This was at DV8 in Seattle. I met Simon and Robin after the show outside their bus. I have a pic with me and Robin, but Simon just signed my CD and hopped on the bus. We asked where Liz was, and they said that she was rushed back to the hotel for rest cuz she was sick.

  • I went to see them in Tampa in 91-92ish?

Liz was only able to get through 1 song, her voice gave out halfway through her next song.

    end of show, no reschedule.

never got to see them again.

    I was crushed.

  • Fuck this is the 82 music garlands one of the best albums of this band of worship I remember when this casion danced alone in a single square earthenware with the light off of mirrors that frete tothe Mitica Lima nightclub here in peru not call Helden at 83 times those who are alive esensia.

  • Hi,

Lucky me, I'm from Scotland seen then 1983 and another 12 times sice

  • Damn, that's amazing.

  • Liz was ill during this show? Even so, did this masterpiece... I watched on TV that the aliens are among us. Have you ever thought on the possibility that Liz is not from this world??? Uhh???

  • Wow, Elisabeth Fraser's voice has got to be one of the most unique voices I've ever heard. I love this band!!

  • best group ever

  • no nie ma lepszej muzyki z lat 80tych niz Cocteau Twins i Dead Can Dance .... super kawalek i tylko szkoda, ze taki krotki

  • Liz was ill during the concert in Seattle. Luckily, she didn't cancel the show. This was the last time that I saw them live. (Except for Violet Indiana at the Crocodile cafe). Her voice was/is breathtaking during the show!

  • Wait, when was this show? What is Violet Indiana?

  • u were lucky. she cancelled the chicago show. i saw them a few days later in LA. cant believe that was the last time i saw the cocteaus. I have been listening to them since jr. high and saw them for the last time right after my college graduation. this band means so much to me....

  • ...nah...

  • the deftones did a way better job...

  • nah, I don't believe, there's nothing better.

  • are you kidding?

liz has the voice of god.

    she is god.

    you're kidding, i know it.

  • listen to the album version and tell me that again, then i'll be sure you're not to be taken seriously

  • deftones r my faavorite band

but they didnt do a "better" job

    its a good cover

    but better??

nah thats just dumb to say that

deftones r huge cocteau fans they would never say that

or want anyone to think that

but i guess it is ur opinion

    w/e both bands rock lol

  • You're on crack!

No one can "improve" on a Cocteau Twins song. They were one of the most original and most distinctive sounding bands of all time.

  • @NothingSacred27 True. But My Bloody Valentine did take the sound into genuinely fresh territories.

  • wonderful, there's no other words :)

  • great, amazing, still amazing after all this time...

  • Absolutely, I first heard this song at a club years ago. Loved them ever since.

  • Great, great, great. They really transfigured the "Garlands"'s version. Thanks.

  • Supreme artistry! CT reinventing a classic and Liz on top form!! Otherworldly!!!

  • this is the live version featuring backing audio from mark clifford of seefeel! it is awesome!!!! they played 3 songs in a row forming a montage and mark c played on all 3

  • This is the best Cocteau Twins song, anyone has a better version, live or studio?

  • This IS the best version of Wax and Wane !!!

  • its mark clifford from seefeel (he did the 'otherness' ep for the cocteau twins).

  • hey I think Garlands has to be my favourite too, but i like their other stuff a lot

  • that's fair....

  • who said hate...?!

  • they grew, their style changed, don't hate an artist for that. I loved every everything they ever did, and still follow solo projects (check out Robin Guthrie's "continental"... it may change your life ;)

  • I disagree and am aware of everything but will stick with 'Garlands', I believe a certain John Peel felt the same way...more of a focus on THAT, instead of trailing of elsewhere would be appreciated, although not expected of course.....!

  • Different strokes and all that!!! But this is nowhere near the "Garlands3 version!

  • I know of course but I like Garlands the best....

  • @jjj7477 Absolutely agreed. They were out on there own then. Totally original. You know something? No-one ever mentions how critically important the bassist was. Such an original delay/echo bass sound. Without the bass, it wouldn't have been the classic album it was. No-one has ever played like him. Never. Raymonde was not a patch on Heggie. Heggie should be playing in my band if I knew where the hell he was...... :)

  • @bufon63 Haha - fair shout mate. I think this version is shite - tame as feck!!

  • @bufon63 This version is so tame it's embarassing

  • I wish the original sounded as moudy as this.

  • masterpiece..........this is art

  • Briliant, never thought I'd see this 'live'. Check out the album it came from, Garlands.

  • I also like the version from Fear of Dolls on the gothic tribute to Cocteau twins album

  • Deftones have a nice remake of this song too.

  • agreed! the deftones cover is great!

  • yeah i already knew about the cocteau twins from when i was a kid and loved em adn then got into deftones when i was 15 then that covers album came out- imagine my surprise

  • i was the brains behind that deftones cover.

  • right...

    haha

  • When these guys put on a show you really get your money's worth! Carefully crafted and concieved, flawless!

  • Thanks...great to see Liz again. Fell in love with them when I first heard Blood Bitch on Garlands...she hates to perform live, but on the Blue Bell Knoll tour, her voice, the magnificent lights, the LSD...it was unforgettably beautiful...same with the Heaven or Las Vegas tour. Sigh...so many people will never know what enchantment they are missing. Hazel is awesome too.

  • isn't this the version they did with that guy from seefeel? i believe he used to play with them in the mid 90's

  • Yeah, Mark Clifford from Seefeel toured with the band and did ambient dub versions of a couple of Cocteau oldies, much like he did on the Otherness EP.

  • i still get elated when i hear "seekers who are lovers"

  • wonderful song!! her voice is just great!

  • Love the drum

  • se ve komo el ass pero es

    wonderful jijiijiji

    i love cocteau twins

  • Frequently I think this woman is not from the Earth. Even with no perfect image, excellent version.

    Love you, Liz Fraser!

    Thank you, Aieque!

  • se ve como el ajo

  • this was filmed in Seattle at DV8.

  • Nice version of a classic from the early album
