  • Great video, lots of info you cant even get from so called "personal trainers". thank you

  • @imtoohungry05 That is because most personal trainers don't have the knowledge themselves. And you are very welcome:)

  • Thank you for this video. I have a question on starting this lifestyle of eating.

Being that I am overweight, do I need to eat 1gr of protein per lb of weight that I am at currently? Or do I calculate using the weight I want to be at? Thanks!

  • @MsKatRowe You are very welcome. And yes you calculate to your current wait, and as you lose weight you keep on adapting, so the less you weigh the less protein you will eat. So every couple months you will recalculate your protein intake:)

  • @MsKatRowe You can stay on the same amount of protein until you stop losing, that means it is time to adjust it.

  • Its not that I don't like the background or anything

But I can't read the words can we download the power point

  • @odiousominious I don't have it any more. It was on a very old computer, and since we moved from Canada to the states, we bought all new computers and laptops. Most of my videos I don't even have anymore.

  • Hi! Great video! Anyway, I have a quick question: so if I need to consumer 1 gram of protein per every pound of my body weight, and I weight 100lbs, would that mean I should consumer 100 grams of total protein daily?

Math isn't my best subject... haha.

  • @SaraHeartsRunning Exactly right, and if you are training for a marathon, you should get even more. Your math sucks? You ain't seen nothing. I couldn't do my son's math in grade THREE!!!

  • @thebarbiewithmuscle

    Hahahaha! You're funny!

Thanks for the responce and helpful videos!

  • Thank you so much ,I'm learning sooooooo much!! Xxxx

I hope to be so lean like you some day!! You are such an inspiration!!

  • @butterflyjune71 You are so very welcome hun. Remember if Johan andd I could do it, so can YOU. We didn't start out this way. Johan was obese and I was in a size 12. Took us 2,5 years before we wen't on stage, but we did it! Johan is now a size 32 and I'm a 2 or 3.

  • Thanks for this, very helpful

  • @tedoymisojos Well hunnybun, I am so glad you got something out of it:)

  • Wow I was just introduced to your channel by ginabinawina99 and you are amazing! :o) Thank you so much for sharing all of your incredible knowledge. Love your husbands presentation here. The videos you've created here are potentially life changing. Thank you! :o)

  • @sweetsillyme Why thank you so much hun! I am glad you found me:) I hope all of this knowledge gets used and does not go to waste. Thanks for commenting and leaving such a beautiful message:)

  • This was very helpful..I have nothing but time right...THANKS JOHAN..you are a wonderful husband to take your time and do this for Marinda and all of us Contestants..

  • Johan says you are welcome!

  • Oh - I am so behind! I am catching up now! TY!!!

  • oeeee, You've got to be quick. Competition starts on Monday officially! did you throw out thosw candies? Training starts monday too!

  • Yes, yes, and yes!

  • Good, good and good. Didn't want to come over there and spank your butt!

  • This was a great video! The presentation was very helpful!

  • I told my hubby and he is very "chuffed" that someone actually found it helpful. He says thank you.

  • I have figured out my protein needs but what about carbs and essential fat grams? Is there a way to figure out your daily needs for those as well? Thanks so much : -)

  • Essential fats 5-10ml of good quality fish oil should be sufficient. You do not need any carbs except for directly before and after a workout. The more carbs in your diet, the slower you will loose fat. You will get enough carbs in your veggies and cottage cheese etc. Carbs for after a workout include fruits like bananas, dried apricots, dried figs or a 1/4 cup of raisins or 4 normal sized marshmallows.

  • Inspiredzen: I so envy you, wish I could run like that!!

    L-

  • @lhw3 I love it...but it really does eat away at muscle and makes me 'skinny fat' lol. I am hoping that if I cut back to 3 days a week it could improve things.

  • as explained before, you can cut back all you want but as long as you run, your body will not be able to survive running without injuries at a bodyfat% lower than 18 - 22%. In the picture above I am around 11%. If I tried running, I would end up in hospital with major injuries. You could still do sprinting, if you want, or do intervals, or do 100m runs. That should keep your lungs in good shape.

  • Nope you don't, LOL. If you want healthy lungs, try skipping rope for 10 minutes.

  • I have noticed a lot of lean women and men that skipped rope but didn't run. I always wondered why they didn't run. Now I know. I always thought you had to run or do intense cardio to shed fat.

  • Quick question for you guys;

I enjoy running and usually run 3 miles 7 days a week with no weight training. I started weight training today and plan to do it 3 days a week...would it be ok if I still ran on 3 of the days I don't do weights? Running is my passion...but I need to get rid of this body fat lol.

  • Hun, runners need fat to be able to run. You CAN NOT BE LEAN AND BE A RUNNER. You have to choose what is more important, your love for running, or how you want to look. If you get as lean as us bodybuilders, you won't even be able to run to your corner store. Please refer to my video on skinnyfat vs lean.

  • @thebarbiewithmuscle I would definitely rather be lean:)

  • There you go, then you've answered your own question, LOL. Why don't you try skipping rope on your inbetween days.

  • LOL, you are sooo funny!

  • Agave is'nt a sugar really, it is plant based. It is derived from a cactus and has a lower glycemic index then table sugar. It is similar to Stevia in that respect but I believe Stevia is only available in powder form where agave is a liquid. Would stevia work?? It is packaged similarlly to Splenda ( low cal./low carb etc.).

    L-

  • I know what Agave is little one, and still, even if it is LOWER on the glycemic index, it is still high enough that it will elevate your sugar levels enough to spike insullin. I have a video on insullin in your blood and how it affects your fat burning capabilities. Many things are lower, but still will produce insullin. Everyone is on a high fibre and whole wheat kick, it does the exact same thing.

  • Thank you and Johan for this! I can't BELIEVE that we need to eat 1 gram of protein for every pound!!?!?! I'll be eating all day long at the current weight I am!! LOL

Question - I need to purchase weights....what should I start with?

  • Now that is a good question. My guess would be to wait till I send you guys the workout, then go to a store, give the guy the program and try out the weights to see how heavy you can go. then go from there. You have to know, as you get stronger you will have to buy heavier and heavier weights. A good option might be to get those weights that you can load and unload, but they are expensive as hell.

  • Thanks to the both of You! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. I also believe in paying it forward. Otherwise you stop the blessings!!

  • You guys are so very welcome!!!

  • Say thank you to Johan for this!

So...question..are you wanting to put your body in ketosis with this?

    You look amazing Marinda!!

  • No it actually is not about ketosis at all on this diet, HOWEVER. If you are extremely high in fatpercentage, chances are you will go in Ketosis regardless. The main thing is that most people will feel better with about 50g of carbs per day. This is not like Atkins at all. Simmilar principles, but for sure low fat, and Atkins counts carbs, not calories. Atkins is high fat, not low fat.

  • Johan says you can come over here and hug him yourself! Thank you very much pretty one, you look amazing too! Btw, did you guys understand the whole thing?

  • What are your thoughts on agave, and soy milk??

I drink an awful lot of green tea and i add soy milk. Agave i use in place of white sugar.

    L-

  • Stay AWAY from soy milk. It turns into estrogen in your body, and will transfer all the fat in your body to your stomach over time. It gives men Manboobs, and some men can even start lactating after a while of being on soy!!!! Any sugar that replacement that spikes your insullin will stop you from burning fat! Stay away from that and just use sweetners.

  • your husband sounds just like you:). Thank you for making this power point very informative. I appreciate your time.

  • We are both from South-Africa, that might be why. Johan says you are very welcome. We are both lying in bed, reading messages on the laptop, but my eyelids are getting heavy. Sleep tight pretty one:)

  • Hugs and Kisses Johan!!! Appreciate everything that both you and Marinda is doing for us!

You guys are a god send... ;D

  • Aaaaw, thanks hun, we might not be able to save the whole world, but if every one we teach, can teach one other person, like a pay it forward, we can be one lean nation, don't you think:)

  • Hi guys! The presentation is lovely! Have a question about drinks -- what can we have besides the shakes? Are coffee and tea ok first thing in the morning? (I know you guys being South African have to be having some coffee every day!) Also does it have to be unsweetened or can we use raw sugar? Also what are your feelings about artifical sweeteners like splenda? OK so that was more than one question....... ;>)

  • No sugar whatsoever. Check my video on insullin in your blood and fatloss. Diet pops are fine, COFFEE helloooo! You will actually benefit by having Cafeine while dieting, speeds up the metabolism. Sweetners are perfectly fine, will not cause insullin in blood. We use evaporated milk in coffee. Don't be afraid of sweetners, that scary story is bull, will do a video on that.

  • I hear. I took your advice and blew it up some.Made all the difference in the world. Thx. Johan did a really nice job on this. I like cottage cheese, but it doesn't like me much. UGH, lactose intolerant, is there an alternative??

    L-

  • There are tons of alternatives. They will be in the next bunch of videos, fish, meat, protein shakes, beef jerky, I bet you can eat plain yoghurt as well as the cheese in the next video.

  • Fantastic! Thank you for all your hard work!

  • I'm reading these comments to Johan, he is lying on the bed, completely exhausted. Wow, not only do I have the bestest hubby ever, he's hot too, LOL

  • What do you eat for a treat that is OK? Now and then is a cookie OK?

  • Yes and no. If you are dieting down, it is okay to have a cheatmeal once a week. Strawberries and blueberries are good treats. Your tastes will change over time. When you just start a diet, I would get rid of any cookies for at least the first couple of weeks. Just until your brain has adjusted, then the occasional cookie would not hurt. But, not while you are still in sugar withdrawl. If you don't want to loose weight, but just maintain it, a cookie or "snickers bar" occasionally is ok.

  • Super! Priceless! Real!

    Thank you guys!

BTW, I love cottage cheese! :-)

  • 2 more vids to come, part two of this one and protein sources, including cottage cheese. Glad you like it because you are going to eat a lot of it.

  • Such a great presentation. I have to do presentations all the time for school, so I know it is work!! Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to spread this knowledge. It is very much appreciated.

  • Kudos to your husband, Marinda ( you haven't told us his name yet) this is great. I was trying to read the screens but it was very hard to do. Maybe he could alter the font color and make it a wee bit darker? Otherwise this is super!!

    L-

  • It helps a lot if you watch it full screen. We tried blue and purple, black doesn't work either. We'll see what we can do. My hubby's name is Johan and his youtube name is phlatphinger, I am fairly sure this will be confusing a first, but be patient, all will be revealed.

  • @lhw3 , she has mentioned it in other videos. It is Johan.

  • Holy cow, and you spelled it correct too! LOL
