Thanks for posting this. May have seen this video, but don't remember for sure. One of our local T.V. stations used this version of "Cabaret" in some of their locally produced commercials in the late 60's and early 70's. My favorite rendering of this song !
I am glad you posted this. One thing I noticed is Herb and the TJB are in Time Square in NYC and at 1.29 they are on State Street in Chicago, notice The Chicago Theatre in the background.
As well produced as the albums were TJB wasn't just a studio band. They played many a concert and sounded great. Anyone know who arranged this one? Nice trombone lines.
from 1962-mid 1966, the tjb was in fact a studio band. drums: hal blaine, bass: carol kaye, marimba: julius wechter. herb alpert of course, bud colman on guitar as well as john pisano and it goes on. the trveling tjb was: the late nick ceroli ,drums bob edmonson on trombone , toni kalash on 2nd trumpet, pat senatory on bass, lou pagani on piano.. to sum it all up...it was the best sound that AM radio and phonograph records could give it's listeners..
These specials that Herb did back in the 60s were incredibly well done, tasteful, stylish, creative, and classy. Oh and the music was out of this world. It makes me cry to think that folks don't seem to want to appreciate this level of quality any more. These specials, along with the Burt Bacharach TV specials of the time really need to be released on DVD for future generations. This is part of our musical culture in a time capsule and it needs to be preserved. Incredible video.
I really thank you very much for posting this jewel. i lost the chance to buy a laserdisk of this Beat of the Brass special on japanese laserdisc a couple years ago, here in my country Peru, but i don't loose my hopes to get it in the future.
Gooch!!: Only take a rest, and think...what a great idea was posting all these wonderful videos. As Joe says "this is gold"....and I complete: gold without price, no money value,is just pure talent!!! excuse my english. I'm very happy!!, and thanks.-
Great vid of some rare TJB footage. Also a look over his shoulder into old Las Vegas. "guess Who's comming to Dinner" was playing at the Chicago theatre. thanks for posting
Wow! I remember seeing this back in '68. Never thought I'd get to see it again. Anyone know if the entire show is available on DVD?
