no offense but for the prices apple charge, there shouldn't be any problems like this or they need resolve the issues, yes, nothing is perfect and their is human error and manufacturing error but still when you pay the kind of money you pay for macs you expect to get a top notch product
In fairness to Apple , If I don't watch videos, like Youtube or Quicktime, the 27" imac doesn't overheat and start to flicker. Same as the first 27" Imac I bought and returned with this issue. So if you don't watch videos you should be fine.
Apple support was always kind and friendly, they just can't fix the problem and act surprised that I had TWO with this problem (purchased November ) Again, if you don't watch Youtube or Quicktime clips you will be fine your Imac 27 won't overheat
Its been a cold winter. Thankfully the imac 27" comes with a built in space heater at no extra charge. That sucker gets HOT. Unfortunately, if I don't have a big fan blowing on the back of it, the video gets buggy real fast and eventually freezes. If I don't use any video or watch youtube then it is no longer useful as a space heater to keep my office nice and warm.
Well, so just for you to know... Apple already has a chip on the Macs that tries to avoid Hacks.
Usually called EFI this chip is an alternative to the BIOS and Mac OS checks if it's there. Although I sincerely think Apple is doing no good by avoiding Hackintoshes, in the end they're making OS X popular and moving people to Mac, I first tried OS X on a old Acer Aspire and was so happy with it I got an iBook (I don't have that much money to get a new one)
You seem to be very against people who use Hackintoches, have you ever considered people who don't have enough money to purchase a Mac? Nevertheless its unfair that Mac users are able to run Windows and Linux on their machines but PCs cannot run OS 10 legally.
you pay for what you get. ive always had imacs and for 5 or 6 years at a time with not even the slightest in problems!!!! so ill pay 1200 to 2200 dollars for an imac.. microsoft is trash!!!!
@TheMastermuir pay for what you get? sry dude the fact is Imac which cost $2200 = $500 PC.. they fooled you with the price.. seriously LOL, I have my computer I built it around $2900, and I run it i with dual OS (Snow leopard, and win7 ultimate 64bit).. and I can tell you mine maybe 10times faster than your Imac
Actually I think it has to do with Flash player itself not apple's hardware. Flash never really worked well with windows either I remember trying to install flash on windows and got all sorts of issues with it, i think flash player needs to be overhauled.
I was Wondering about the imacs 27 problems and I have an extrage dream, so 21 inches imac don't have problems right now, the problems its about the 27 inches imac, and I was thinking, that people that order Dual Core procesor come with ATI Radeon HD 4670, An I think that this GPU, can't with the 27 imac resolution, the people that have de quad core have ATI Radeon HD 4850, so if you r gonna buy an imac i recomend you buy it with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 gpu... =) Sorry bad english =/
@Alejo77H ATI 4670 and 4850 they are both more than capable gfx cards, you can drive up to 4 monitors with them with a decent matrox triplehead2go. that said, the ATI 44xx 48xx are outdated already, at least in the pc world.
Wow! I just heard on the news that Apple is having problems filling orders before Christmas. Also, they are having a lot of issues (cracked glass, system issies, etc..)
Dude, it's not that simple. I sent my comp back and they gave me a new one with the exact same issues... Do I really need to send it back a 3rd time? I need to use a fucking computer.
I've always heard great things in regards Apple products, they're complete, quick, clever, agile, secure, everything you'd need. But hearing about condensation issues and incomplete installs is not good. They have had a fewrecent cock-ups in regards crappy batteries, fragile screens and now these things. I hope they're not going down a choppy path.
i get the same problem with xp win7 and vista. its the gernaral flash player is bugged . If you find a flash player 9 to download works perfect dosnt happen on any comps i have
If You Live In The Uk look on Argos online. I found a brand new Mac Mini for £399 thats £100 less than the Apple Model (Though its not the latest...) The 21 Inch iMac is only £799 Thats the same as a Plastic Macbook!
Adobe have been assholes to Apple of the past few years. They just don't seem to give a crap about Apple users any more as much as they do Windows. Look at CS4, it's pretty much all 64bit on Windows but not on Macs and there were rediculous bugs with things like Photoshop not working properly along side Exposé. I love Adobe, but they're really pissing me off lately with their lack of support for Apple users, and Flash in general. It's a MESS!
Let me also say that my new base model of imac 21.5 is faster than my G5 2.5 quad with 8gigs of Ram. Amazing. I wonder how fast the 27" high end imac is? Seems to me that they will really have to up the ante with Mac Pro to offset the performance of the iMac. Yes I realize a Mac Pro is more versatile.
The same problem with flash you describe is also in my brand new 21.5 base model. I've tracked it to a problem with the Airport Base. If you turn off airport and turn it back on, flash works perfectly for awhile. But, after my install of Windows 7, I have no problems using Flash through Windows so it is an Apple OS issue, not a hardware issue.
I ordered my Imac 27 Inch 2.8 GHZ, 4850/512 mb, and 8GB Ram on October 20th. Apple says the ship date is November. If there is an issue with the new Imac's its with the Core 2 Duo's since the Quad Cores have not yet shipped. I got my new Apple remote and can't do anything with it until my Imac gets here.
Wow! I just try to order the 27 in with 4670/256 mb. That model might have the issue. However, Amazon is sold out and won't get anymore in until mid Nov.
I hope they fix the issue and clean up this with all their first production...
Oh I agree. If you want power you go pc, if you want stability you go windows 7. I only went macbook pro for itunes and because I am a wannabe writer, and hollywood uses mac for everything so I gotta look lie I fit in, lol
The macbook air is not as thin as my Sony x505, and no mac compares to my OQO model 02.
Even my acer netbook with ten hour battery is in some ways better than macs
the hp you're talking about is not an all in one. it's not really comparable. hp's all in ones don't even go up to 27in, they max out at 25, and they are priced around the same as the imacs. people should buy whatever they are comfortable using, but the price argument has become pretty baseless.
HasAPPLE PUBLICLY admitted that there is a issue with the new 27" units? Is it affecting every unit they release? I am wanting to buy one, but I am not a GAMBLER, so what is the definitive word, should one buy or Hold on to your Money, who wants to buy a problem? If apple knows this exists, why would they continue to sell them if this is the True.
I do not believe it is only flash, when I went to the mac store I just stood and watched the video screensaver movies they were all playing. I was going to buy an imac, until I noticed EVERY imac was running really slow, choppy video. I could not believe it, but I didn't see the same choppiness on the macbook pro, that is why I picked the pro.
I have had 5 macs, but always go back to pc. My ibook, 900 mhz, 648 mb ram can't run youtube, but my 733 mhz, 256 mb ram toughbook runs it fine. There is something wrong with macs, even my brand new macbook pro, 2 gig ram, ran out of memory when I was surfing the web and checking email at the same time. I mean, come on, can't handle email and internet?
I use the Safari that came with the mac. But this is the first Mac that burns dvd's to ipod without freezing, so that is a big step forward. So many times with my last macbook pro it would convert a movie for two hours and freeze at the last minute.
