however i dont see its purpose. why have a humanoid robot do construction when a non-humanoid could do it better. one built solely for that purpose. it doesnt need hands to grab a drill...it has a drill built into it.
@tuseroni interchangeability and versatility, you can use these robots to supplement the existing workforce, they can be used to operate machinery and tools designed for use by humans, non-humanoid bots with built in tools would be useful as well, and I'm sure we'll see a wide range of them too someday.
Well of course, your points are all correct, but this is merely to demonstrate what could be possible in the future. This robot alone would cost in the millions for an individual to obtain. However, due to Moores law, these technologies will become cheaper and faster every year. So, theoretically, we will obtain incredibly intelligent computer systems in the not so distant future.
Yeah, you're 100% correct. I suppose while it isn't very practical now, it's really just an impressive demo and a stepping stone towards what could be.
this robot looks like it will kill you.

I know it's amazing that we have walking robots and stuff now... but I think in order for these to become common they must:
A. Become more fluent in their actions.
B. Perform actions at a greater speed.
C. Be able to take orders without complex programming.
Good AI and faster or more efficient processors will really benefit stuff like this.
