Don't call a service guy. Defrost the freezer for a few hours. You can take a hair dryer to the fan to speed things up. Had the same problem, did this and it works fine now.
please do not buy any GE they Made in Mexico made Junk... not good last long they is short life long.... no good... almost good Kenmore, Maytag, wirgloone
I've learned over the years, with refrigeration devices (friges, air conditioners), when they stop working, the first thing you should do is turn them off for a few hours, or even overnight. Learned this the hard way, when I had a repairman come out one time, he took the condenser fan, was gone for two days, and then came back out 2 days later when the 'part came in'. Someone later told me, that he had likely simply cleaned up and let the thing thaw out, & didn't actually replace the fan.
its an ice build up problem ur fan is hitting ice and every-night ur fridge is defrosting i think ur heater for the defrost is worn out of ut timer is going bad
check the fan, see if the blades are hitting anything. try lubricating the motor (put some oil on the rotor of it-you'll want to unplug it first :) then, with it unplugged, move the fan blade by hand a little bit after oiling the shaft to work the oil into the motor bearings. Run the fridge for a little while, and if all else fails, replace the fan (sometimes the blade will loosen, or the bearings will get messed up)
I had a guy over here today to take a look at it. He said that it is the icecubesensor that overfills the icebox. One icecube had apperantly fallen down on to a fan. It would then make that noice untill it had melted or "crushed" by the fan. He was going to replace the sensorarm so the icebox wont get overfull.
@bwmw123 The fan actually took care of the icecube by it self. I guess it got chopped up in a few hours. So all the technichian did was replace the sensorarm so that the icebox dont overfills again.

Evaporator fan motors are made to go out on you shortly after the warrantee(sp)has expired! The new fan/motor is about 105.00 without labor!!

watch the video of mine i just put up, similar sound. The thing I hate is when a technician comes over it doesn't make the sound!

It does happen and it seemed to be the problem in this case.

@sjefern How did he access the fan to remove the ice cube? Through the back of the fridge?
