Excellent information Funk. Among all your other comments, telling us the best sources of protein is from natural foods makes a lot of sense. This is the first time I've ever heard of taking a protein supplement before sleep; that's something for me to think about. According to the RDA guideline, I need 50g of protein a day. Being active, I know I need more than that, but I'm working on figuring out just how much more.
Great to see that high amount fruit in the video -- plenty of antioxidants.
spirulina and blue-green algae have the highest source of protein that i know of. higher than meat and the whey protein, which is a by product of cheese making, per calorie.
Thanks for your tip about this protein....I never tried it before just received my order today...bought the chocolate & chocolate mint flavor... it taste amazing...great product! and proudly canadian made!
hey im 15 and im tryna gain muscle becuase im a WR and i wanna go play rb next year is drinking3 protein shakes a day bad for me cuz i heard that too much protein could be bad for me too
hey man i really love that you take time to answear question. I am 1.70cm and weigh 90kilos i want to get to 70-75kilos in 3 months. I really want to know what not to eat i can't stop eating carbohydrates i'm 15 years old and my mom only makes rice or pasta , chicken meat and stuff like that ! please help!
@ThemusicISHipHop, Nothing wrong with carbohydrates (they've been taking a bad rap lately, but follow the science); that's where you get your energy from. Just make sure they're UNREFINED. Whole wheat pasta and bread is fine, but fruits contain the highest amounts of good carbohydrates, and they come with bonuses such as fibre and antioxidants -- some more than others.
@mastro14720 whey protein comes from a byproduct of making cheese. it makes you gassy, jut thought u might want to know. try protein from algae or spirulina.
@21iunie - - Thanks for following. The goal is to eat protein sources at every meal. If you are training hard, then you want to ensure that your muscles are growing; body is recovering and recuperating efficiently. I suggest that after your workout , if you cannot eat a meal with carbs, proteins right away, then you have an after workout meal/shake (check out my Prograde vid post) and before you sleep is great, as it’s the optimal time that your body rests and your muscles grow
@TheGladProductions Hmmm. Don't you "USE" Drugs...some even “use and abuse”.
As long as you understand the gest of what is set, you can say use, I'll say take and hopefully the message is clear. @marcroops hi i am looking to bulk up scotthermanfitness says to take your protein shake 10-15 mins after your workout once your heart rate has slown down. will taking protein shake after my workout help me to bulk up
Hi, I'm 15 years old I weigh 220 pounds and I am 6'0 tall. I play baseball for my highschool team and we do very rigorous conditioning every day for 2 hours. Speed, agility drills, core work and so forth. I'm looking to gain muscle mass when lifting. I was wondering what you think would be the best type of protein shake for me to use. I want to build muscle mass but slim down on fat weight. I really appreciate any feedback! Thanks!
Thanks man this helps alot but, I have "Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein" I'm not sure if this is better or not, I've been told it is, but I want to know from a guy who's been using the Whey Protein brand for a while. I just turned 18 and going into the Army soon I need to know if this will work faster, please reply.
Hi, i've been working out everyday for about a month now. 10lb weights i do curls, tricep, push ups, resistance chords, sit ups, leg lifts, dips and a step climber to work out my legs and to get a good sweat going. i eat about twice a day, healthier foods now. (i know i should be eating more often) i dont get too much protein. Eggs i can do though. If i eat eggs and work out then take the shake would that help build lean muscle and let me work out everyday i with having to rest a day?
i weigh 225 and im trying to cut down to 190 by June. Is it still okay to take protein powder with water before going to bed even though im trying to lose weight and not bulk up?
@nbamorreale1 Whey Protein will not help you bulk up but actually assist with your weight loss. I think you are mistaking whey protein for Weight Gainer. You should be eating a source of protein at every meal and mid meal snack - no questions...especially when you are looking to burn fat and lose weight. Check out my Nutrition Basics videos for Fat Loss. Get your protein from natural clean food, but if not then whey protein with water will do, especially if you train hard and often. - Funk

@justina9876 Justina...you can have a protein shake about 30-45 min before you work out (make sure you have a slow-digesting carb as well, to give you the energy for you workout) then right after your training session, but make sure yu have a full meal - with carbs/Protein/Healthy Fat. an hour after your workout, to replenish, recoup and ensure you body is gettign the energy and nutrients it needs to burn fat not hold on to it because you are starving yourself

( by the way I am a basketball player so I train and work out every single day)
@98639816 That all depends on the type of protein you are drinking - if you are drinking the weight gainer, then yes you will gain weight - if you are taking whey protein then NO
The key is you have to have protein with every meal (more from food then from powders) - this video is the best times to have protein powder whenyou can't necessrily get it from food.

hey, what protein powder is good to get ripped and lean like well toned muscles but not body building huge muscles cause im an ameteure boxer and traing 3 times a week and im 13 theres matrix whey protein or miky whey protein waht one is the best ? please respond thanks.
sorry but i cnt watch the clip as for my slow shitty internet but could u answer 1 question for me? as im useing Mass protein drink when is the best time to drink it? b4 training? after training?
Hey Funk I've been using Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein for a while mostly because it tastes good and mixes easily. How does the Milky Whey compare? If you've ever used the Gold Standard stuff before.
@ThaiBox2007 I've never used Gold Standard, but I have used and tried quite an array of Protein Powders. For me, nothing compares to the taste of Milky Whey, in fact, just had my Healthy Count Chocula Breakfast, using Milky Whey
@chrisc78463 For the gold standard stuff my personal favorite is "extreme milk chocolate" but all the flavours are good. I found the "rocky road" (i think that's whats its called) was too sweet after a while. I haven't tried the milky whey yet. I found that where I live its only a good deal if you buy a lot, and I don't want a whole bunch if I end up not liking it.
I ordered more milky whey last week along with protein bars and multivitamins. The shipment took a day longer, so they threw in another box of bars, a magazine, and a bunch of samples. They appreciate your business!
@thegodofdays The only time you need to take whey protein is right when you wake up and right after your workout...theres no need to take another serving before bed when it comes to whey!! Take slower digesting protein such as whole food protein before bed...Whey assimilates in the body to quickly therfore it is wasteful to take before bed. also it costs more to take more whey, too save a buck stick to when you wake up and before bed...Casein, eggs, chicken, red meat before bed...
@thegodofdays ... mix it up .. 50% whey (immediate availability).. 50 % casein ( long term protein availability ) .. (research it .. muscle and fitness & maximum fitness)
@Reignunlimited If you have themoney to buy all that Whey then go for it, but simple, cost effective - remember Reign Unlimited the Supplement companies own the magazines so be aware
@marcroops .. Well this advice is for those who are serious about training and budget their supp. money wisely.. for example I stopped wasting funds on fat burners and energy drinks etc.. and put towards proven foods like whey and casein.. so it really isnt alot money if you cut out the B.S. This whey/casein combo (1-2 scoops each) has worked for me and knowing that my body is getting protein around the clock in addition to solid food. Good Luck.

taylort123 9 months ago
@taylort123
It doesn't matter as long as you get your daily protein...
Look at the nutrient facts and look how much grams of protein is in per scoop.
Your daily protein gram should be how much you weigh example...
Say you weigh 180 pounds then your daily intake of protein in grams should 180 grams of protein.
Try to estimate how much protein is in each scoop and try to keep track how much protein you have eaten including the protein powder.
But for the scoops, 2 scoops 3 times is fine.

Hey Funk I've been using Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein for a while mostly because it tastes good and mixes easily. How does the Milky Whey compare? If you've ever used the Gold Standard stuff before.
ThaiBox2007 1 year ago
@ThaiBox2007 I've never used Gold Standard, but I have used and tried quite an array of Protein Powders. For me, nothing compares to the taste of Milky Whey, in fact, just had my Healthy Count Chocula Breakfast, using Milky Whey

@marcroops Awesome man thanks for the reply. I'll make it my next protein purchase and try it out!

@ThaiBox2007 have you tried any other flavoures and if you have what one is tasty ?
chrisc78463 1 year ago
@chrisc78463 For the gold standard stuff my personal favorite is "extreme milk chocolate" but all the flavours are good. I found the "rocky road" (i think that's whats its called) was too sweet after a while. I haven't tried the milky whey yet. I found that where I live its only a good deal if you buy a lot, and I don't want a whole bunch if I end up not liking it.

I love supplement source!
I ordered more milky whey last week along with protein bars and multivitamins. The shipment took a day longer, so they threw in another box of bars, a magazine, and a bunch of samples. They appreciate your business!
Love it.

Very helpful video, thanks. I take casein protein before bed, do you recommend whey over casein at night time?
thegodofdays 1 year ago
@thegodofdays The only time you need to take whey protein is right when you wake up and right after your workout...theres no need to take another serving before bed when it comes to whey!! Take slower digesting protein such as whole food protein before bed...Whey assimilates in the body to quickly therfore it is wasteful to take before bed. also it costs more to take more whey, too save a buck stick to when you wake up and before bed...Casein, eggs, chicken, red meat before bed...

@foolioperez the end part i meant after workouts SORRY!
foolioperez 1 year ago
@thegodofdays I like whey much much better, it's the best type of protein along with eggs
marcroops 1 year ago
@marcroops whey digests in 40 minutes. It's better to have casein before bed because it takes more like 3-5 hours to digest it.
fireflourisher808 1 year ago

Good Luck.

@Reignunlimited I could not have said it better myself - awesome advice - you ROCK!!!!!
You heard it people, Reign has said it best...CUT THE BS and INVEST in proven foods and nutrition
