Kann has sold over a thousand of these CoCollector units since the late 90's. The study I saw from a WM report was that the Kann CoCollector saved a lot of money when compared to a two compartment side loader or split rear loader. These trucks are also great for single stream recycling... as you can collect garbage in one compartment and commingle recycling in the other! One truck, one operator, two commodities (hence CoCOllector) versus two trucks and two to four operators... money saved!
Rare and mysterious is right. We have no idea what they were thinking when they designed these piles of shit. I wish they were extinct instead of rare. We just converted all of these to single-stream, and have about 30 or so out here. The only thing worse than this is a Condor. We had 29 in the market area, 27 have started on fire and burned to the ground, only 2 remain and we have them. I'd like to meet the KANN design team and punch them in the bean bags.
i drive a kann 2 sort for veolia in batavia illinois on the top floor we put recylcling on the bottom we put garbage when u dump you dump the bottom floor first then u open a valve by the tailgate then u flip a switch in the cab and your top floor falls then u dump the contents on the second floor
Wow, great catch! Glad you were able to find him!! This KANN would be a really cool truck to find and follow, it definitely sounds pretty neat. I like how you can see the dividers in the body at 2:00!! Thanks for the vid--5 stars!
thanks! It is a nice truck and I'm glad it's back! I was getting bored with the autoreach lol.. I'd like to get shot from the roof sometime, my uncle lives on a circle that would be a nice one! could maybe get a little better shot of the inside
Very interesting design. I am sure we are all curious of whats inside that green beast. You would think that with 3 compartments the tailgate would be split into 3 or maybe seperating walls going from side to side but then how would it pack like that?
Either way this is a great vid of a uncommon design. Thank you.
ya I have no idea what's inside but I know it has a "drop floor" which I can't figure that one out either! I wonder about the tailgate also! ..it looks like the top part of the tailgate also opens if you look close there's like another door :S ..if you go on KANN's website they have a photo section, but they want all your info first! There is one pic I seen with the tailgate open but it was very confusing!
Nice!So thats not like a normal FL? Does it have a half blade packer or something?Never seen that before.Seems like he would have to dump the can every stop or two.Thats an odd little storage compartment also.
you know I actually have no idea what the inside looks like! I've been wondering that myself.. I'm hoping to be able to climb on my uncle's roof sometime and try to get a shot inside if I can see anything from the roof.. they live on a circle so it would be facing the front when it drives in
ya I'm not sure why.. but I think it's just a storage compartment. I'm not even sure how the heck those things work! maybe someone who knows more about the KANN trucks can tell you..
I think this way is more efficient.. they've been running two trucks for the past 5 weeks or so.. autoreach and recycle truck as seen in my other vids.. this way is better.. can get through route quicker with 2 trucks, but this you only need one truck which so it's more efficient, and think of the fuel savings!
haha if you look close there's 1 or 2 recycle bins in there too off to the right! I don't know what they use them for but they always seem to have them, my older vids had them hanging on the tailgate.. there's generally more garbage then recycling.
regarding that cart I think what it is when there's carts/recycle bins on the truck, it probably means either they gained a customer and they need to drop it off, or they lost a customer and they picked them up
hmm.. Idk, but it seems it would make more sense to do have the driver do that. I saw another video with some carts on the back and they said it was for new customers then that's when it hit me that's the only thing I can think of it would be for. if they had a lot to do then ya but just one or two.. tho a few years ago I got like a dozen WM recycle bins to use at school for recycling I think someone dropped them off in a pickup or something.
If there's a cart on the top of the truck it means the dipshit driver forgot about it while chatting on his cell phone and boned it off on the body. Don't worry, it'll be in your windshield in a matter of minutes...lololol

Nice job! Something you won't find here in oz for a while, if ever... cool system. It looks like the garbage section fills pretty quickly.

Did anyone else notice the cart at 2:25? And it seems like the garbage compartment gets full faster than the recycling compartment.
