The only thing that annoyed me was the actors speak pretty fast so you had to be constantly reading the subtitles the second they pop up meaning you dont get to see as much of the acting.

Aldo claimed he´d known Italian the best.Von Hammersmark´s remark "Do you Americans speak any languages?" was a hit. I love Tarantino´s work. When they played the cards game, Karl May and the Apache leader Winnetou are mentioned.Karl May´s books are legendary in Central Europe, i doubt americans ever heard of them. I mean you can tell Tarantino had seen thousands of movies and is accurate. In some movies there´s a Czech agent and she has a russian name. This would not happen to Q.T.

i wonder how much of the humor is lost when this movie is dubbed. Glad you were able to enjoy it. Im stationed in Sicily and i feel sorry for the people here who wont quite get the same effect as the english version of the movie

I am Czech, movies in cinemas have subtitles. On commercial TV´s they´re dubbed - terrible. E.g. the black guys and white guys speak the same while in original soundtrack ther´s a difference. Prefer to see, let´s say, a Swedish movie in original. I wonder if the fact that German/French/Italian is spoken half of the movie did have a commercial impact in the US. The movie pokes at Americans not speaking languages, too! Many times I seen US tourists complaining: no one speaks English here...

I'm American and I love this movie. I'm glad half the movie wasn't in english, not knowing the actual language being spoken highlights the acting. And it makes things in the movie seem more natural.

The worst is Ali G´s / Borat´s movies get aired dubed on TV´s! Seen 10 seconds of that and thought the world´d gone crazy. Yet, if one´s not French then (s)he can´t get every detail in a French movie. I met American guys in Argentina and we talked movies and books.told them i´d never seen Star wars, neither read comic books they considered "fundamental". They asked me."How come you´ve never seen these? Have you lived on earth?". Yet,they didn´t know any European movie.cheers from Prague

Hi there, I think I can see the reason for question marks. According to a web dictionnary the synonyms are: indispensable, primary. I guess the word "essential" is the most appropriate.
