  • i want to be the eternal child!

  • Please don't pause this video at 3:43

  • Morrison jumped into the stage setting, it didn't fall on him. I was in the audience and saw it happen. All about theatrics.

  • This is right after their debut album was really hot. Pretty much the middle of the psychedelic area, right at the beginning of 68. Great performance.. shows like this "WERE" the MTV of the time. Up until the late 80's thats how a lot of people got their break plus radio airtime. Just imagine. 1/3 of the country saw this.. that's power.

  • My screen is melting!

  • I was born 12/27/89

  • @M1t20 I'm 12/27/88 cool.

  • Oh god it was bad enough when he hit the bum note but when the spaghetti fence fell on him I felt so embarrassed for him.

  • Is it just me or does Jim look Weird with THose SunGlasses on?

  • @DannyCruzz Its you. That's a classic look, he wore sunglasses all the time. Different pairs of course. Plus it helps with those bright tv lights.

  • @mrFalconlem yeah but 9 out of 10 times he had his eyes closed so he didn't really need sunGlasses

  • this was their first song. it's about committing suicide by swimming out into the ocean toward the reflection of the moonlight on the water...out to sea...just you and me...

  • @wickser seriously?

  • Robbie is a fucken BEAST! had really Good Riffs

  • @DannyCruzz He also could write their hits!

  • I think it's so cool seeing moonlight drive being performed. It's my favorite song and I don't think it gets enough attention.

  • Think how great this would look restored. Well, minus the wavy parts...damn 60's :D

  • Voice tired yes,but the guy did put on a really good shoe!

    Thanks for posting.

  • i wonder if this gave jw "chills all over his bah dee"?

  • Fantastic footage! Jim looked so handsome, but too many special effects distorted his face! His voice sounded tired too. Does anyone know how to get this on dvd? Haven't seen the Jonathan Winters show anywhere on dvd.

  • How could there possibly be 4 people who dislike this video ????

  • The wavy things obscure his beautiful face, too.

  • @dvinedzine I know! Bugs the crap out of me!

  • Those cheesy special effects are a crackup. Too bad they made those wavy effects during LMF. I want to see Jim get tangled up in those weird clothesline-type ropes.

  • ♫♪♪♫♪♫l

  • Fantastic- never seen that performance of LMF before- amazing how Ray could get the Gibson to sound like a Vox (ha,ha) Cheers

  • @nwoodgate Or a piano. Who knew the Gibson could do that? ;0)

  • As I recall, this was only a couple of weeks after New Haven.

  • Stoned he may be, but to me, he just seems to be drained, either from the partying or the tour or a combination of both.

  • It looks like Krieger's playing live, too !!!

  • Very nice, thanks for uploading !!

  • 3 dumbasses disliked this? LOL!

  • Jim - the coolest guy ever!

  • Jim in this show looks so handsome!!!!!!!

  • Szkoda, że już nie ma Jima .

  • god good times.......

  • My observation: That dumb ropey fence prop should have been anchored down. Jim wasn't expecting it to fall on him IMO. I read Densmore's book several times. If it wasn't for Jim Morrison, he'd be nothing but a in-house studio drummer. Densmore was always complaining and whining throughout his book. Totally jealous of Morrison and couldn't wait to play without him after Jim left for Paris. After the 3 remaining Doors heard of Jim's death, they rehearsed that day as if nothing happened.

  • @UnitedSoundVideo Yeah, just like Little Feat. They kicked Lowell George to the curb. Then they sucked air. Still sucking air. Only good stuff is LG's reign... Go figure...

  • por siempre viva¡¡ el rey lagarto¡¡

  • J ADORE LES LUNETTES DE SOLEIL!!!

  • i love the shades jimbo ;)

  • i lived in the 60's and i'm sorry there has always been war..korean, world war 1.2. but that time was about freedom, peace, and love..their song break on through sums up how we all wanted to be, well at least most of us..Jim is still today the most inspirational, talented, humble singer/man ever...kudoos to the rest of the talented group as well..all genius'

  • I read it really embarrassed the doors when Jim got all caught up in the chicken wire at the end.

  • gracias hermano por compartir este legado del rey lagarto el dios del rock

  • His voice wasnt pre recorded the insturments were

  • I have respect for people who sing live and don't lip-sync (whether I like that person or not.) But anyways I like this clip, long live The Doors! :)

  • The Real Music!

Justin Bitchber made 3 accounts to dislike this.

  • I still think that the best aura Jim had as a rock star was when he did "Light My Fire" on Ed Sullivan. He seemed larger than life. Even though this was done in the same year, Jim changed physically so often. It's almost uncanny when you look at photos or even video how he could change so radically in such a short span of time.

  • Wait--you can hear the tail end of "Horse Latitudes!" Does that mean that they just took the album track and he sang over that? How bizarre!

  • The reason why they used pre-record tracks was because it's too hard to get a good sound on a tv set. John Densmore said it in an interview that you can find here in youtube, in another very well-known show where they played touch me, they also use a pre-record track.

  • Does anyone know why The Doors would agree to, or want, a pre-recorded track? I mean, they were great musicians and all, that it is bizarre to me. They also did this on the Smothers Brothers show. Actually, lip-synching seems more common because singers sometimes have off-days with their voices or they may be a little thin without the gizmos used during recording.

  • @lemurianchick Jim is singing, and he was singing too at Smoothers Brothers, the band was ok about pre-recording, but Jim wasn't, that's why he actually sang on the shows

  • I thought this was 1968 because he did this song and "Touch Me" and the latter was on "Soft Parade."

  • @lemurianchick That was a different show. That was the Smother Brothers show in december of 68 when they played Touch Me. This show they played Moonlight Drive and Light My Fire.

  • @lemurianchick no, that's Wild Child exactly a year later

  • Why is he wearing shades? I wonder if he was stoned or trying to look like Dylan? He has such gorgeous eyes that he doesn't look good in shades.

  • @lemurianchick Well, he took them off.

  • "The Jonathan Winters Show" was cancelled by C.B.S. due to the same reason the Smothers Brothers had with the network: the censors.

  • i like the transistion at 3:23

  • PerrRRfect !

  • Light My Fire - Another Robbie song!!!

  • @zappatx : Hey Robbie, get over it!

  • these glasses he wears fucking rock!!! does anyone know what are they?

  • @emouch1 Glasses?

  • Read John Denmore's post-mortem letter to Jim in his book "riders on the storm" pp. 155 and grasp the omen of the tragedy as "light my fire" went into its last chorus. From delight at the beginning of LMF to sheer fear (in hindsight), goose pimples prevailing all through.

  • @megobatman Hello...Im Franco from Chile. I like to have the episode with Jonathan Winters Show: Barbara & The Doors 12-27-1967 Edden. I'm a fan of the doors of a lifetime. Can you help me friend? see you ...

  • oh lizard king, you'll never die man!

  • hahaha i love how ray is playing piano on the organ! VIVA THE DOORS!

  • @JoAqUiNBandit Ray was that good...

  • @RayManzarekGod hey, no argument here!

  • @JoAqUiNBandit I'm saying he was so good he could play piano on the organ! :P I was joking haha!

  • @RayManzarekGod no, i know. when i said no argument here, i meant that i didnt have an argument with what you were saying...i was agreeing with you lol

  • @JoAqUiNBandit Ooh lol :P Alright haha

  • legend...

  • one tight little piece of psychedelic pop !

  • quality performance of light my fire....

  • that's the best vocals to the end of light my fire that I've ever heard. It may never get old. too bad it's sell your soul sign an autograph

  • sweet Light My Fire from the John Winters show I was wondering if that was filmed

  • They all stood in his shadow and did a great job of doing so. They should not complain ever.

  • what happened to Jims pipes at the finale of LMF ? He usually screams out the final lyrics , drunk maybe ? Long Live Jim , Long Live The Doors !!

  • @mazyrun09

He sounds emotional at the end?

  • Ha. funny how this show had no problem with Jim saying "Higher" opposed to the asshole Ed Sullivan. you could never hold back The Doors.

  • Too bad the cameraman doesn't zoom in on Robbie while he plays that killer lead on Music's Over.

  • Just watched the whole show . JWinter says after the first song, "The Doors will be right back, as soon as my heart starts beating again." Was Winters expecting Morrison to do something crazy like jump into those ropes. They must have known the structure wouldn't hold him. Weird. I vividly recall watching it live and thinking, 'WHAT IN THE HELL JUST HAPPENED HERE? I guess that's a pretty good performance if it keeps a viewer pondering it for forty years. Thanks for the memories Jimbo.

  • um do u know if there is better quality of this video it would be greatly apreciated

  • This song (Moonlight) was my introduction to slide guitar. What a great sound and Robbie was awesome with it.

  • This song should be accompanied by a video with turtles!

  • or swimming penis'

  • Densmore complains about the bit at the end in his book, Riders On the Storm, that Morrison was phoning in his performance and being self-destructive to the band's success by being goofy at the end and jumping into the ropes.

  • I want his shades! Great song!

  • great!!!

  • its been a long time since i've seen this.what's interesting bout this vid is that at the end of moonlight it looks like he falls off his part of the stage and at th end of lmf he looks like a fly caught in a web.too much too soon rip

  • larga vida al rey lagarto

  • "A high-quality audio source (much better than what was on the vhs) was ripped from cd, dubbed over vhs audio and synchronized in Premiere. " try the dvd......

  • bel video ma la canzone moonlight drive nel demo del 65' è migliore

  • morrison espero alcanzarte algun dia en la via lactea... fumando el humo mientras todo pasa...

  • LO MEJOR DEL MUNDO

  • I like those shades Jimbo

  • TWO LANE BLACKTOP.

  • Shit! Great video!

  • Thank you so much for posting this. He had the looks, the voice, the mystic, and most importantly, the talent to back it all up. There will never be another one like him. Almost 40 years now and still no sign of mr mojo risen. RIP Jimbo.

  • me 2

  • i agree wit da person below me

  • Someone please invent a time travelling machine so i can go back to the 60's!?!?

    PLEASE!!!!

  • How, how I wish I was there!

  • Hendrix, Dylan, the stones, the doors, eventually led zeppelin, the who and Neil young. And they're just my favourites!

  • ; )

  • @luvs2spooge1984 i would biuld one for both of us and i will make sure i will bring some acid for us if we get bored while on our way back to the 60's lol

  • @luvs2spooge1984 I was there for all of it I want a ride

  • @luvs2spooge1984 Amen to that!

  • @luvs2spooge1984 be careful what you wish for, that time machine might drop you out of a chopper in the A Shau Valley in May of 1969. How's that for going back to the 1960's? Would that be real enough for ya? enjoy the awesome music, but trust me the 1960's in the US were not good times for people who actually lived through them. Don't you guys realize that the amazingly great music was inspired by amazingly awful events? Why anyone would actually want to go back amazes me to no end.

  • @2628ches Because the times today aren't much better and the music is worse! There is nothing inspiring anyone to be truly creative. At least the children of the 60s TRIED to do something about what was going on. At least they had hope and believed in making a change. Have you looked at the youth of today? There is still senseless war going on that doesn't concern us! But we are lacking the peace and love efforts of yesterday. There are worse drugs and HIV today. 1969 sounds alot better to me!

  • @2628ches I hate that I was born in the mid 70s. I missed everything that was ever good in rock history.

  • @luvs2spooge1984 Have always said the moment they invent a time machine, then it's being stolen so i can go see The Doors Live.

  • que voz no no no jim

    THE LIZARD KING

  • omg

i didnt know about the light my fire part

  • buenisimo!!!!!!!!!!!! alguien sabe como lo bajo a la compu?? quiero tenerlo en mi celu!!!

  • awesome! i didn't know the light my fire part existed. right on

  • yea they were friends back in the day

  • What a show, or? This is Jim Morrison in the public, ya in TV! The rebellien Shaman in his lonely world!

  • fremragende -

  • wow this is rare i didnt even know of this great flim.

  • I just want to touch his beautiful face, sigh......Sorry, just had a fangirl moment.

  • fenomenale

  • this is good !!!

  • RIP Jim Morrison we love you

  • Jim had the most beautiful voice ever

  • thanks for this its the best!!!

  • jim studied acting and performance at ucla...he was interested in bringing the audience into the theater experience.

  • and the epitome of cool

  • he was the best

  • how did u do the edit with the old footage and the audio, thats awesome !

  • This isn't 1967

  • This IS exactly 1967--two days after Christmas--1967.

  • Really? Jim looks like the way he did in late 1968

  • Well, by late '68, he was a bit heavier, tho the hair is similar. This show was just a couple of weeks after New Haven, and to me, that's the look he has here.

  • great video... i prefer a manzarek killer solo...

  • se dieron cuenta de que se le iba a caer algo ensima?

a que Jim aparte de que talvez no andaba muy bien de la garganta le iba a caer encima una parte de la escenografia,

y todavia se rien de él

no mames que mal pedo je

  • beautiful words man: let's swim to the moon let's climb through the tide penetrate the evenin that the city sleeps to hide

  • blessed with a concert in toronto in 68 with 3rd row seats dead centre. some ladies we knew found us and sat on our laps for the concert. that wuz the most intense, sexual, mesmerizing rock concert in my extensive musical history. thank you jim and the doors!

  • saw them in '68 also---Singer Bowl

    in Queens---it was very theatrical

and wonderful. Saw them at the concert

in Miami sometime later--concert in a

    small auditorium--they were very brave

to come to a conservative 60's city back then. Some of his fans turned against

him because he was a bit drunk----that didn't bother me--I was so glad they acutally came all the way to Miami from

    LA.

  • jeez i saw this when it was on.

  • I really like this sort of laid-back version of LMF. Maybe if they had done variations on it like this in concerts, Jim wouldn't have gotten tired of it so soon. They could even have put a third verse in there just for live performances, or vary the arrangement or something.

  • I agree. I can't stand how in late shows like Bost 1970 his was bored with it and would mess it up on purpose...GRRR.

  • That was cool thanks!

  • That was cool

  • Weird LMF video:

    -sped up

-shaky (you'd think there's vibrato on the organ)

-no bass overdub (only the piano bass)

    -cut out solos

    -heavy reverb on Jim's mic

    I like it!

  • well it appears that network had a chang of heart concerning the get much higher lyric in the doors movie it says that network had a problem with the word higher but it makes more sense that it would be sullivan since he didnt let the stones sing lets spend the night together and because the doors movie is as reliable as taking advice from richard nixon concerning the doors

  • I know it was two days ago but Happy Birthday Jim

  • morrison at the true peak of his powers... literally, only 2 yrs from this point he starts his sharp decline... the sullivan, light my fire is better, but here on moonlight, he puts everything into it & nails it.

  • never seen this thanks for posting dude i love the doors

  • Even tho the band isnt actually playing here Jim sounds great. Love the way he sang this here. Something about his vocals. 5*****

  • this was rare

  • Las Puertas(la percepción) fueron desordenado?

  • You know he couldn't get much finer.
