Aw, I have a blue heeler puppy named Billy, but his nickname is Buddy; example "Come on, Buddy!" hahahahaha, also, my mum had a Blue heeler when she was 18ish and his name was Bear, nicknamed Buddy. :L
SOOOOOOOOO CUTE BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CUTER YOU'RE PUPPY OR MY RIPLEY'S ( OUR 4 MONTH OLD KELPIE/BORDER COLLIE CROSS ) REACTION TO BUDDY BOY BARKING AT THAT BALL TO TELL IT OFF! HE SURE IS ONE CLEVER LITTLE BOY..............
Can you train my blue heeler? I think the smart gene was over ruled by the stubborn gene. Great family dog, but she makes your puppy look like a genius.
The only reason a blue heeler would have any behavioral problems is because they are not getting enough exercise. Australian Cattle Dogs require extreme amounts of exercise to remain content.
oh gosh "blue heelers" are so cute!!! and i read that they're one of the top 10 smartest dogs in the country! i wish i could get one, but only toy dogs for me because i'm allergic to dander. hopefully the maltese pup i'm picking up next week doesn't cause me to break out in hives. anyway off-topic: can i ask you where you got your "fence" (is that what it's called?), and HOW MUCH was it??? i'd rather use that for my pup when i'm at work rather than off-leash. yours is so pretty
I have a blue heeler her name is Winnie and she is such a turd, she was my dads dog before he passed away. She goes crazy over laser lights it is so funny.
I just got my first blue heeler with my boyfriend and I absolutely love him:) they are very smart dogs but even though he is so smart and adorable I'm still a huge pitbull fan bc I was raised with them. If I had to have any other dog though it would def be blue heelers they are just as smart as my pits if not smarter:) everyone should have a blue heeler in their household!!!
Adorable! I have one named Mia who is currently 6 or 7 months old (yours is probably 2-3 years old now XD) and she is so hyper! We all love her very much, and she gets along well with our Borzois!
aawww :D I loved how he barked at it, as if that was going to make a difference somehow. We just bought a blue heeler today and watching all these youtube videos has really pumped me up for when we go get him in a few days. :)
Hahaaaa, it's so cute XD For a moment, I was all impressed by him knowing what his ball was... but then I realized my dog does that too! o 3o If you go, "Where's your toy Pepper?" He'll stare at you for a second, run away, and then come back with it in his mouth. XD He does the same for his bone too~
i have a 2 month old female heeler....these dogs are amazing, she loves to nip at my heels and make me run...they are EXTREMELY active but they HATE to be far from their owners...she is the ;best puppy
i have a 10 month old blue heeler/lab mix... TOTAL pain in the ass... i love him soooo much , he is super smart and playfull but honestly he cant be left alone never! if i would've known this before i think i would've chosen another breed of dog for my apt life..... i walk him everyday 3 times a day, i play with him but still he needs lots of attention all the time.... i suggest everybody before getting any breed of dog to make some research first....
I love the confirmation of your puppy. I loved this video.. Can you contact me so I can contact the breeder. Id like to buy one of their male puppies.
i have a red heeler and i will never have another type of dog. They are very smart, but i have never had a dog so loyal. Its funny you say 'pain in the ass' because i tell people about my heeler: shes a pain in the ass, but she's my pain in the ass- lol
@halobankai NO he is not dumb, the owner is DUMB for being lazy and not teaching him correctly and even worse, brushing it off on the dog. THAT IS YOUR FAILURE. Not your dog's. And by the way, dont call a dog "Mine". Animals dont belong to you, they are here to share their love, not to be someone's property, you cannot own another living soul.
@ldaodirector They are born white with only the dark markings at first, then as they progress they darken up. Sometimes it takes 6 or more months to start to really darken up.
I have a 14 yr old Blue Heeler...let me advise they dont get any less pain in the ass or any less energetic!! He is the grumpy man of the house & still gets up to his old tricks at times. Anyone that has ever met him knows he thinks he is human. He isnt cool with other dogs though, so has lived on restrictions....Most awesome dog, hard to see him getting old now though, I got him at 8n weeks old.
hey I am looking for a good acd breeder and I was wondering if you could tell me what breeder he is from? or do you know of any good blue heeler breeders?
hey, I've always had border collies but I'm thinking about my next dog being a blue heeler. Do you have a preference ? and which breed do you think is smarter? also, is there a difference between the males and females?
This puppy is so cute. We have a blue heeler but didn't have him as a puppy, he's still obedient, super smart and amazing. After seeing how smart an ACD puppy of this age is, I now know why our is the way he is. Animal planet rated this dog number 10 on a list of the ten smartest dogs. I've had dogs my whole life and even some of those rated above the blue heeler in the top ten and this breed is by far the smartest I've ever seen in my life.
fuuuk i wish my pup were that smart!!! me and my flatmate just got a pup each frm the same litter, its mastiff/red nose pitty/lab/blue heeler, but my pup takes more after the father (pitbullmastiff) my flatmates pup hwever dfntly has heeler in him (same grizzly sound too lol)
That is the cutest thing I've ever seen, I got a 8 month old Beagle, and I'm getting a Dalmatian and ACD that same color but I don't know which one to get first... Congrats on the beautiful puppy
bahaha get me ma got' dang ball haha thats a cute puppy, im hoping to get 1 soon. my dads friend just had quite a few puppies and hes giving them away for free
im getting one on march 4th this will be my first acd but my dad is getting me one cause he had one when he was younger and he said they are really intelligent
if you don't mind where did you get that nice table??? i am getting a blue heeler for free that's why i came across your video i am learning about the breed. thanks.
the cage is for potty trainin. feed, water, cage. go outside, play, then repeat. if u have a dog u need a cage or pen. i have 2 blues and one red. best dogs ever! GET N THE TRUCK, GO MOVE SOME CATTLE THEN CHASE THE 4-Wheeler!
I had a great friend named Buddy who was a red ACD. He was loving highly intelligent boy. I lost him in 2003 to sinus cancer. You sure have a cute pup. I will have an 8 week old this February.
@Dougomyte i have a 9 year old jrt and i dont think he has an "on" switch. haha he sleeps about 16 hours a day. But after a long day of rabbit huntin he sleeps for a couple days straight.
Hi! Nice blue! I have a question, a good friend of mine its going to give me a puppy just like that, i do not have a big yard or cattle jajaja i live apartament but i can give him long walks, can you give me your opinion? Thanks!
Yeah I don't think that's a good idea at all. These dogs are working dogs naturally and need a lot of excercise and space. They also need more attention than most dogs and do not do well left alone, they can become depressed easily if they are not with their person 24/7, which results in serious behavior problems. They can be left alone if they have a large enough space and other dogs and things to occupy their active minds, but not for long periods of time.
man, pitty's come from overseas too. pitbull terriers come from england and were used to hunt, then, argentina used them to subdue wild hogs. you know, im from canada, only a handful of dogs originated here, two of which, extinct, huskies are used for sled dogs, newfoundlands are used for water rescue, that doesnt mean i would stop someone from having one just cuz were not from the same country. if i saw a dog in a cage here, it would bug me just the same, as if i saw one in a cage there
i completely agree with you about keeping a heeler in a cage, cuz there made to be active. but being overseas has nothing to do with it. your telling me, no australians do this exact same thing. im sure some do. theres so many videos of people, in north america, with heelers who put in the time, who deserve one, just as much as any aussie. YOU didnt have any hand in breeding these dogs, there not YOUR dogs, so why do you think you should have a say in who gets to have one.
i have a french poodle, a rotweiler, and a blue heeler too, today is 7 months old... and is a pain in the ass too haha...
he only knows "sit", "roll over", "give me 5" and now he's trying to jump trough a ring.. i teached him all the ricks, but the ring one. He just copied it from the french poddle on a practice day.
Wow! I never thought blue heeler's rocked so much until I saw your video! You help me with my decision! They are really good looking dogs in my opinion too!
So sorry to hear about your loss. Sometimes they drive me nuts but I can't imagine being without these guys. I think I will always have heelers, they are such good dogs. Good luck finding the "one" :)
They're great!!! Flicken is my ACD (red heeler), and since she was 1 1/2 month old, she was really a pain in the ass if she had nothign better to do, so i had to start training her since she was very young and she is stunningly smart, i love her.
but still she is a pain in the butt if you don't give her something to do.
blue heelers are brilliantly smart,i had my puppy for 1 week he was 8 weeks old,i had toget him trained to do tricks for a scholl project in 2 weeks and he learned a lot...there prob the easiest dogs to train
By chance, did you get Buddy from Jen in Soldotna? My husband and I own the father to that bunch of adorable and incredibly smart pups. How old is your little Macy Grey?
We got Bud from some people in Washington, Macy Grey is from here in Wasilla. Were going to breed them but macy was too little so had her spayed, we may still breed buddy.
AWW my dog is jake the snake. he is a full bred blue heeler and he is 15 years old. i have grown up with him. definitely my best friend. oh and we didnt crop his tail which is weird kuz most ppl do hah. i love your puppy though:]
Thanks for all your great comments, buddy now almost a year old. I now have a little girl heeler named Macy Grey. She is sweet as pie. I'm going to be posting more videos of them hopefully soon. Buddies job now is to chase the moose from our yard, i'll see if I can get a good clip of it.
yeah, they love to work. they kinda need it too. very intelligent dogs from a very young age, and very willfull. if their intelligence is not put to good means, they will use it to figure out how to get into trash cans or how to get on the counter, or how to become the boss of their owner
LOL. My bluey is 5 yrs old and still barks at anything that prevents her from getting her ball. She's afraid of the washing basket, plastic bags, anything that moves pretty much. She's so smart though!!
yeah i got a 1 year old blue heeler named bandit. we used to have knock down drag outs till i put her on her back one day and now she just loves me to death.
Yep, that's how buddy was for a very long time. He would bite me in the face. I actually had to bit him back to get him to stop! Putting him on his back is a great one too, I have to do it still once in a while just to remind him who's the boss. If he has an attitude I will also give him a toy for about an hour and then take it away, he totally kisses my ass after that.
really well mannered! going to get my blue heeler pup here in 2 hours!!! sooo excited! ill post a video today or tomorrow...tell me what you all think!
the best way ive found is that when it bites you or puts your hand in its mouth is grab its bottom jaw with your thumb on her toungue and fingers around it and squeeze till you know it hurts them
cuz all they know is wow those things in my mouth really really hurt
Thanks for the response!

I would suggest that you do NOT get this breed of dog if you live in an apartment.
It's energy level will be extremely high and dogs like this need 1-2 hours of hard exercise every day when they are adults.

RayHorns 3 years ago
heelers are very easy to train. especially at that age. they learn very quickly and arnt usually stubbourn.

Heelers are very smart. They can be trained to do anything except watch the children! I want a blue heeler!
SpeedyTase 3 years ago
yeah, they love to work. they kinda need it too. very intelligent dogs from a very young age, and very willfull. if their intelligence is not put to good means, they will use it to figure out how to get into trash cans or how to get on the counter, or how to become the boss of their owner

LOL. My bluey is 5 yrs old and still barks at anything that prevents her from getting her ball. She's afraid of the washing basket, plastic bags, anything that moves pretty much. She's so smart though!!

yeah i got a 1 year old blue heeler named bandit. we used to have knock down drag outs till i put her on her back one day and now she just loves me to death.
shotgunjack1880 3 years ago
Yep, that's how buddy was for a very long time. He would bite me in the face. I actually had to bit him back to get him to stop! Putting him on his back is a great one too, I have to do it still once in a while just to remind him who's the boss. If he has an attitude I will also give him a toy for about an hour and then take it away, he totally kisses my ass after that.

so cute, but i wish there was a way to make my lab/boxer puppy stop biting & jumping on me
maeviac30 3 years ago
the best way ive found is that when it bites you or puts your hand in its mouth is grab its bottom jaw with your thumb on her toungue and fingers around it and squeeze till you know it hurts them
cuz all they know is wow those things in my mouth really really hurt
