  • too much mass and volume, it reduce the speed of it

  • @martok666 The EarthSpiral is lawn art, being art mass and volume are fine, it was designed to to turn slowly.

  • aha, I'm looking for a wind power plant for the garage gate. there are many, but not as pretty, which is course not so important. your greetings I give pass. your Music are beautiful, because i like Classic. greetings and luck for you.

  • I am again:I prefer vertical. it needs no translation of vertical in horizontal and does not have to turn the wind. think it is less susceptible to interference.

  • @paikiboy Hi Paikiboy, The Earth Spiral were sold earlier for about 150 US dollars but the economy went down and we stopped making them for sale, as there was no one to buy them. The Earth Spiral is a kinetic art sculpture and does not turn power, but looks nice. Please send my Swiss brother and Sisters my very best and greetings to you also.

  • I like this model very well, even better then the other, because it seems suitable for smaller plants? where can I buy it? i live in Switzerland. and unfortunately the price for me an issue... greetings

  • What is the most durable design for someone like me who lives in "tornado alley" and even without storms the winds tend to gust 45mph to 60mph at times.

  • @GrymWraith There will be no problem with wind with the SpiralAirfoil due to a cabled superstructure that makes the bird far stronger then traditional birds. As long a logic is applied I see know problemos.

  • I would like to make one of these for myself. Do you have still photos or dimensions. What gauge of aluminum is used to be rigid enough? I too enjoy the hypnotic effect of spinning spirals.

  • Hi foxwood1944, when we get to the point of making kits we would be very happy to send you one.

  • I will check back in from time to time to see how things are going with the SpiralAirfoil.

  • I can picture this being used as a power source for people who love spirals. Like me.

I pretty much try to incorporate spirals into everything, because they are both artistic, and surprisingly functional in most applications. Usually any involving spinning.

  • Hi HamsterPlants522, The Earth Spiral is the start of the kanetic sculpture division, in time we will be coming out with many variations. I think you will be very surprized. We do intend to have the ES producing power also. It's gonna be a blast playing with all the possibilities and configs to come up with some very beautiful combinations both in shape and size. The future looks bright for true change to happen. DNA to Galaxy and between the spiral is universal and such a wonderful shape.

  • I agree, it is a wonderful shape, it is almost as if all life depends on spirals in some way. If you are fascinated with spirals, then have you by any chance watched this show called Gurren Lagann? Spirals are incorporated as a way of life in that story, and it's always kept me interested.

I look forward to your future developments.

  • @HamsterPants522 NOW that's just funny The last statement of this.

" I pretty much try to incorporate sprials .........................Usually any involving spinning"

Isn't it a given that ya gotta have spinning to involve a SPIRAL?

    i love it.

  • It's just symbolism from the tv show, drills are symbolic of the soul, spirals represent the power of chaos and evolution. And spinning is necessary to escape the bonds of gravity.

Honestly though, I do agree with you, it is funny.

  • @brokenbrush - Static spirals exist, such as staircases. Though using one does perhaps involve a 'spin'.

  • Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like it catches a good speed even in low wind. still a great design/appeal. seems like you have a pretty good 'thread-like' design for catching wind. have you ever though of a Diagonal 'Thread'?

  • Hi Kazooka, I've watched the Earth Spiral for a long time now, she will take winds from any direction and turn, there is a predominate direction of rotation, however I have seen it turn backwards every once in a great while. The best direction is a down draft, boy oh boy does she turn then, I mean really fast. To answer your question we have tested it in every direction and found the horizontal to be the most effective at turning power, i.e. Spiralairfoil Wind Turbine. Many designs are possible.

  • this some cool shit

  • Hi thegreatkoua, Well, I've never heard it describe just thata way but I can dig just what your say'n. Keep in mind the Earth Spiral which is a VAWT is much more effective as a HAWT, that said, the Earth Spiral will have many applications both to generate power and as art form. Picture yourself walking into a foya with a six story ceiling with the Earth Spiral upside down turning, Turquoise Anadized, 30 ft. long and 30 in dia. moving the air around. Another is a genny style XMas tree with lites

  • Great design. Clean energy technology can, and should be, beautiful. Thanks for sharing. We have the same concern for the environment and are developing a conversation around the different ways to reach a zero emission future. Design, art, architecture all play a role in this green future.

  • Hi journeytozero, Thanks for the kind words and truths. Long before Al Gore brought CO2 to poplar culture we knew what was going on 35 years ago, doing anything we could to make folks aware of the immenent disaster, only to be laughed at, but we kept going and alas the world is now pay'n some attention. Until the Wall St. crowd gets a clue and truly transforms honestly then I see no hope for all life on planet Earth. There is simply too much green gloss going on in the name of truth and facts.

  • Check out the earth spiral in ebay.

  • Tensional towered airborne wind energy

AWE via lifter kites are being disussed at Dan's invite in group

    EnergyKiteSystems net

All are invited to further Dan's directions

  • This sure looks very attractive. How does it compare in efficiency to a pure Savonius turbine?

  • Hi mandolinic, The Earth Spiral was created as just a lawn ornament to be sold around the world to raise capitol for the HAWT Spiralairfoil Wind Turbine which is the real deal, however, everyone loves the Earth Spiral design. When we raise the funds and get going we will put out a VAWT Earth Spiral config bird. I'm sorry I don't have any numbers for the Earth Spiral for you at this time, but I will say she a fast spinner on par with other savonious Birds. Funding is the snag. thanks, SAF.

  • Those would be cool on top of every street light. I like art and technology together.

  • Hi Freethisearth, Yah she's a real beauty, when the situation becomes right we will be putting out different size versions that will turn wind to power, it all appears to be a time thing at this point. We need an honest to Gawd invester who wants to move this forward, a lot of people talk a good game in the investement world and they take all your time like you've got oodles of it to give. Some point a real invester is gonna come along and we'll be off to the races. It will be a good day.

  • I love it!!

    Art and Purpose.

A generator that you would want to in your yard.

    Deano..

    Australia

  • Hi deano924 Thank you for the atta boy mucho appreciation. Now to get the funding going, can you imagine a 15 ft diameter version of the Earth Spiral hooked to a generator at your house. Thank you for the feedback Deano924

  • love the idea cant wait to see one that is generating electricity

  • Hi leaghtristan, Thanks for the compliments, we are trying to get funding to continue the Project, even though the Wind turbines run on Air it's hard to pull the material outta thin are ie funding is needed.

Thank you for the kind words and inspiration.

  • Very efficent nice have you hooked it up to a generator?

  • Hi DeanC993, Thanks for the kind words they are greatly appreciated, yes we intend to electrify the Earth Spiral. However, the electrified version will be much larger then the one displayed on Youtube, which is 2 ft. wide x 2 ft. tall. The first electrified version will be a four foot version. Again thank you for the kind words. It's kewl to see that your way into Wind Turbine, I love the stuff also, good luck. Spiralairfoil

  • Youre welcome may i ask is it wind omni( it can power from any wind direction) thanks

  • Hi DeanC993, Originally I built the Earth Spiral just as alawn spinner but as time has gone by it's become clear that larger versions will be built to accept a generator for power production, however the Earth Spiral is able to recieve the winds from all directions, the Earth Spiral is not nearly as effecient as the Spiralairfoil wind turbine. The Earth Spiral turns beauty to power and looks great doing it. Have a great day!

  • Thanks i just love the shape of them! I will try somthing like this! thanks

  • YARD GARDEN ART KINETIC WIND SCULPTURE SPIRAL WINDMILL is the title I use on ebay to buy an Earth Spiral.

  • I was wondering if you can use the spiral as a vertical axis wind turbine, the design is beautiful, I want one in my yard!

  • Yes, it will be done

  • Patent pending
