  • People like Bob Rae are what is wrong with the liberal party of today. They don't know if they are NDP or Liberal or has it become the same thing?

Liberals used to be a center line party but now they are fighting to take over the left from the NDP. We have enough loonie lefties in this country, we need a more center line party to run the country properly. We will turn into Cuba if the NDP get in.

  • @justanoldman1 they're still the centre party. he's not a leftist anymore. its dummies like you who can't get that silly bias and prejudice of his former party ties

  • Yeah Bob Rae..... you showed Ontario what you're capable of!

  • Hilarious!

  • mwahahahahahhaa

  • Very Funny Sir Bob, you certainly have a sense of humour... a happy holiday season

  • Bob couldn't hold Stephen's coat talent wise on the piano or the political scene. This man destroyed Ontario as Premier and it is nice to know in Elton John's words that it's going to be a long long time before the Liberals ever form a government in Canada thanks to Bob and the Adscamers. Hey there's a name for your band Bob. It looks so good on them.

  • this is funny as he proogued his ontario parliment three times and then says "it was different back then". I dont approve of what Harper did, but I think the worst person to come out and say how it was terrible to do something like this is a man who did it three times himself.

  • I think that Canadians are fed up with the ruling party and that the prorogation was the last straw. It was clear that Steven Harper was using this to duck the Afghan torture issue. As for why people didn't complain about Jean Cretien and others using prorogation, well the dynamic was different and maybe conservatives should be asking themselves this tough question.

  • This is pretty terrible.

  • How come I got thumbs down? I didn't say two wrongs make a right. I just think the Liberals shouldn't be playing the hero when Bob Rae witnessed many Liberal prorogations in his time and Micheal Ignatieff decided proroguing was wrong only after he saw the public reaction. He even said he would do it if he was prime minister!

  • Go back to work Stephen Harper!

  • I would absolutely love to post dates but everything I post gets deleted within hours.

You people are all sheep and its time to learn that the liberals will be the party that destroys free speech.

There are dozens of people on a forum I subscribe to that have posted legitimate facts to you all but all these facts were removed because they hurt the liberals.

Wake up people seriously this is getting old....I hope to god the west seperates soon so we can get out of this land of makebelieve

  • A complete hypocrite. Of course Chretien shutting down a Judicial Inquiry was somehow OK.

  • I never understand the logic of "since A did it, it is okay for us to do it". Just because the two pro-business center-right ex-PM and right current-PM in Canada and an experimental radical center Third Way premier prorogued the parliament way too many times does not mean that the increasingly politically-educated Canadian population cannot criticize the abusive use of reserve power. If anything, this small crisis will finally allow us to end the "friendly dictatorship" started since Trudeau.

  • That wasn't really that funny. Although, I do respect a guy who can play the piano. Sorry, but the Liberals have prorogued government so many times that the hypocracy sort of destroys the humor. Plus, I think they got way too involved in the protest, turning it into a partisan issue instead of an all-inclusive protest. They spread rumours that democracy was in danger just to get people on their side. I don't like it when any party exploits the good will of the people.

  • theres big differance between when the Liberals prorogued they did so with a vote not just deciding to do so. If he wanted to prorogue parliment then he should of brought it to the house for a vote.

  • @Richi420 A vote when you have a majority doesn't mean anything. The house has been prorogued 100 times, it's one BIG red herring...

  • Bob Rae (like the rest of his liberal and social buddies) is a total hypocrite.. when he was premier of Ontario, BOB RAE PROROGUED THE LEGISLATURE 3 TIMES... AND JOHN CRETIEN DID IT 4 TIMES ... WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE THEN?

  • Where was Bob when the Libs proroged all those times?

  • It 's funny watching Canadians argue over party differences as if it mattered... There all the same!

Parliament has no control in a government that's build on a french bureaucracy, where the crown is absolute.

    Wake-up Canada!

  • You are either a CRAP troll or plain fucking stupid, probably both , The parliamentary system in this soon to be third world country is based on the brain damaged English system. The French system had a quick solution for wannabe kings like Stevie, it was called the guillotine.

  • look how stupid you are

  • Harper needs to resign. He´s clueless, awkward, geekish, a loser, bereft of original ideas...steals foreign leaders´speeches...TWICE! Yeah, nobody noticed the first time so he steals another. What an utter loser.

  • His skills at piano are rather... fail. I mean, nice try emphasizing Parliament's proroguing but a pretty sad attempt at copying Harpers piano stunt and making a song. Like seriously, most unimaginative lyrics and chorus of just prorogue. No wonder Bob Rae never became Liberal leader.

  • Mr. Rae: It is a crime that Harper has prorogued Parliament and as you can see by the demonstrations across the country, people are not happy. When Harper appeared on the news tonight, he acted like he did not care. What kind of PM is he that he doesn't care what the people think.?

  • what a child!!!!!! maybe Bob Rae should act more like a politician for the people rather then playing these childish games. This kind of bahavior is exactly why there is no honor in our parlimantary process.

  • You are right sourstud! I think Harper is such a talented pianist he should quit his day job and go pro(rogue?). I am absolutely positively, unequivocally certain that he would make a better musician than he has a PM.

BTW sourstud Missing the forest for the trees... look it up.

  • Yeah, Ontario still hasn't recovered from Bob's stupid moves. And that was fifteen years ago.Now he wants to inflict that on the rest of the country?! Keep singing and switching parties and with luck we will never see the disaster his kind brings.

  • Better singer than politician

  • You know I dont know whats more funny, the fact that everyone here is an idiot that dosent realize that when the liberals were in power they prorgued parliament an average of once per year without anyone complaining.

Or the fact that this response will be deleted shortly because the liberals do not believe in free speech.

  • response to crunkers251 You really should get your facts straight before you call people idiots. Yes, the liberals prorogued parliment an average of once per year. It is the normal process used to end parliment so MPs can return home once business has been completed-it is a normal course of business. The way Stephen Harper is using it is not a normal course of business. Please educate yourself before posting misguided information

  • @crunkers251

Well well.... since "everyone here is idiots" as you say, let's educate....

The reason people are complaining is that the motive for most recent prorogation is blatantly illegitimate and this is obvious -- it's being used to avoid a confidence vote. The only other time prorogation has been used this way was by Harper in 2008.

  • @crunkers251

Never has prorogation been used for the sole reason of avoiding a confidence vote!!!

(Except once in 2008 by Harper.....)

Speaking of stifling free speech, the only other time that prorogation has been ABUSED to my knowledge was Sir John A Mcdonald in 1873 to halt a house of commons probe into the pacific scandal ( *cough* a conservative)

So since we're all idiots, please provide us with some dates and the reasons for prorogation. We could all use a history lesson it seems. :)

  • Oi, I'm Liberal, and I believe very strongly in free speech.

  • Sorry Bobby your singing days are over.

  • Sorry Bobby once was enough.

  • Better pianist than a premier.

  • Partisanship is funny, yet depressing to read. See: comments.

  • @Apocalypse

The Conservatives run attack ads during non elections on the Liberals, the first party in the history of Canadian politics to do so. A modified cover to Let It Be during a function for Liberals is far different than publicly bashing other parties.

    @Tubesnake

More and more governments are practicing using casino's as a source of revenue. It ranks 2nd in provincial income behind alcohol and tobacco tax, and its driven completely by public demand. Smart move.

  • Fuck off Bob, whether you agree or disagree what Harper did was perfectly legal and according to the law. if you don't like the law then you propose to change it...so let's see...how many times did liberals try to change this law when they where in power? the answer is NEVER!! so you better shut the fuck off, you incompetent moron.

By the way Mr. Rae did you watch the weather forecast to decide which party you want to join next?

  • First he runined Ontario, now he ruins "let it be"

  • Stephen Harper is an international embarrassment. Plain and simple. Our renegade power-hungry PM shut down Parliament to stop Canadians from seeing what is really happening in Afghanistan. That's not democracy, that's dictatorship. Harper has such contempt for mainstream Canada and can only operate as the ideologue he really is, which is becoming clearer with every passing day and month that he maintains majority-like control with only a minority mandate!

  • Classic, BOB RAE! I would really like to hear him sing a song about being MP in Ontario. I think it would go something like this:

I gave a lot money away to the poor but I also legalized casino gambling so I would get that money back!

  • I love Bob Rae -- wish he had won the Liberal leadership. He learned from his disasterous stint as premier of ONT. I like the aged, saged, singer Bob.

  • didnt stevie boy do something like this 2 months ago? little late bobby.

  • @JustChillzz On December 30, 2009, Parliament was prorogued until March 3, 2010.

  • This is ridiculous, you are just making a fool of the liberal party. Proving that the liberals need to attack the conservatives just to get heard, thus proving how weak the liberals are. Appoint a new cabinet and focus on ideas not attacks. Focus on what makes your party good and not the other party bad. this is basic politics, the liberals should try learning these fundamentals.

  • Kennoki, no, he's making a fool of your dwindling antiCanadian Harpo regime. Not that harpo and his cell need any help doing that. But they demand the satire. Utterly insist on it. This is a light-hearted fundraiser, not a political ad. We leave the classless, baseless negative attacks to the cons...Desperate hypocrite....Bye bye.

  • @kennoki UHMMM are you forgetting the attack campaigns the conservatives had that played during every shows commericial breaks for about 3 monthss!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • And Stephen Harper is a wolf in sheep's clothing who will sell this country to American interests if he gets a majority. This guy was head of the National Citizen's Coalition before he became PM, which is a Conservative think-tank set up to dismantle Canada's free, universal health care system. Go give him a majority and see what he does.

I'm waiting for Peter MacKay to sing Country Joe McDonald's "Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die", substituting, of course, Afghanistan for Vietnam.

  • I really don't give a shit about these songs these guys sing to make them appear more human, to get more votes. But, I do think the Liberals will never win with Michael Ignatieff as leader........he, like Stephen Harper, has all the charisma of a tax accountant.

Bob Rae would make a good Prime Minister, I think. And, I say that as someone who has voted for the Liberals only twice in my life, and I'm in my 40s. They're not my party.

  • Bob Rae, looking to turn Ontario Red Again, and remember how well that went last time. Where is rep by pop? Why is the SCC stacked against the west and the Senate too? My constituency has 125,000 votes, and 1 MP. PEI has 98,000 voters and gets 4??????????????

  • If you don't print my comment, it proves the Liberals practise censorship.

  • Wow, you really are a stupid douche. Youtube is owned by Google fool and not the Liberals.

    DouchPilot101

  • @hoodedfang

ok, he didnt mean they LITERALLY own youtube. obviously a political party based in canada doesnt own a video sharing website lmao.

he meant that liberal-minded individuals tend to post on youtube a fuck of a lot.

    seriously...

  • Dear hoodedfang,

I think you are the real "stupid douche" here. in case you haven't noticed, unlike most other videos on YouTube, everytime you post a comment for this video, you have to wait for it to be approved by the person who posted this video and obviously he/she is selecting the comments which is in favor of Liberal party!! ...Nice job...eh.

  • AcePilot1...A Harperite whining about censorship....The irony!...Your Dear Leader Harpo has a complete lock-down on his channel. No ratings, no comments allowed whatsoever....You're a joke....A Con, as it were :)

  • Liberal Prime Ministers have routinely appointed Senators for life. Only Alberta elects it's Senators. It is totally hypocritical of the opposition to talk about democracy until they back a reformed -- and elected -- Senate.

Harper merely prolongued the normal winter vacation for two weeks, so why not kick back enjoy the Olympics?

  • So, because the Senate isn't elected, it's okay to shut down the branch of government that is?

The Senate isn't elected, and it has limited powers as a result.

The Commons was supposed to go back to work January 25. It is going back in March. 36 bills, including the government's entire crime agenda, were cancelled.

  • Right and Who is paying Harper and gang to Vacation as you call it. The Tax payers. Maybe you like that Idea, I don't. If Our leaders get a free ride to The games, dinners and booze. Do you think they are paying? Think again. So why can't the working person get the same benefits. We all should get paid to watch the Olympics..Just another smack in the face of hardworking Canadians..

  • Lovely. Would have loved to be there.

  • Bob Rae should watch how he burns the Conservatives. Since he was formerly a provincial NDP and is now of course a federal Liberal. Just sayin! Whats to stop him from changing parties once more!

  • Fabulous : )

  • wicked

  • You can tell it was in Toronto because the self-obsessed crowd never shut the hell up.

  • I'm sorry but this is amazing.

  • why are you complaining that he is Prorogues

you get to not work and make these crappy songs

  • I remember Bob as Premier of Ontario. The most inept leader our province ever had.

He would have been well advised to prorogue the Ontario legislature during his full term.

  • Comment removed

  • good job:)))))

  • Awesome Bob! -- just wish we didn't have to "let the prorogue" be!

  • Wow, awesome Bob, awesome. And while Yo-Yo Ma may not have been there, a much better voice and greater enthusiasm than Stevie.

  • Good on you, Bob. We approve - of you, not prerogue!

  • Good on you, Bob. We approve (of you, not preroguation!).

  • Go Bob!!

  • Hey Bob stick to trying to ruin my country you @#%$^!!!!!!

  • @beachdudewest I'm sorry, your country is currently on holiday and unable to take your request. Please leave you name, number and praise of Dear Leader and we might get back to you.

  • Incredible! Much more genuine that Harper's cheesy schmaltz-fest!
