  • Autopsy is currently recording two new tracks for a 20th anniversary two disc reissue of Severed Survial. Also with other previously unreleased live material.

  • really????

  • Well, it's always hard to be sure about these postings. But in 2009, you'll know for certain. But I do believe that it is also supposed to have some previously unreleased live versions of Severed songs, and maybe even one that hasn't been released before. Twentieh Anniversary release. Think about it. I haven't

  • No fucking way?!!

    that would be awesome man

  • Yes. That will be very awesome.

  • wuss

  • why the hell not, death metal is good for young ears

  • Who is on bass?

  • Yeah, the stories usually consist of Chris being high, forgetting to take her out and forgetting that he plays in Autopsy! :D

  • haha ther's a baby behind ?? wow

  • Wow I love these old rare rehearsel sets. Note the Death logo on the speaker

  • Cool....

Alright man...talk to you next week. I've got a 3 day weekend ahead.

  • Canada.......sweet!

Yeah Oakland is East Bay. I live furhter east in a town called Antioch.

What's cool about the small clubs too is that you really get to feel the music...especially every thud of the drums and the chug of the guitars and bass. I'm a tone chaser and every place you play you have to re-adjust.....I have to feel percussive thump from the low "E" string....it's like heaven.

  • So you must live in the Concord area...or East Bay?

McDonalds.......everybody starts somewhere and you are making your own money to buy your gear. That's called responsibility then maybe someday make it to the big leagues and play some death in the arenas...I opt for the smaller clubs myself...closer to the people.

  • So are you a musician? Or a metalhead freak. I'm both and I play guitar...who doesn't?

The job was interesting at first but became boring after awhile and what job does not get that way? Actually blueprinting is pretty much phased out now and us engineers reproduce our own plans on plotters after we do our design on the computer with CAD software.

  • Well judging by your comment about your uncle that puts you at a relatively young age. Chris is probably in his late 30's now..I'm 44y/o. We worked at a BLUEPRINT SHOP where architects, engineers, etc would send their shop drawings to us to reproduce onto special blueprint paper. The process is exposing the drawing overlayed on the blueprint paper to light then develping with amonia...in large machines. Chris and Clint ran the machines and I was the delivery dude. They made deliveries sometimes.

  • Nah.....I haven't seen him since he left that blueprint shop 20 years ago. He left after an arguement with a co-worker....something happened and he was getting the blame for it.He was trying to explain his side the story when the management didn't want to hear it...so I remember him giving a gestured "salute" followed by him saying or yelling "C'YA..HAVE A GOOD LIFE". Poof he was gone. How well did you know Chris? I wonder what he's been doing. Did you know Clint Bowers of Hexx...I did.

  • Yeah man as crazy as it seems Chris had a job there. As a matter of fact he was stoned most of the time, but he did manage to show up every day for work. Although I do remember that a few of his lunch breaks were uh shall we say....extended. He was a cool dude.

  • Isn't that a Death logo on that Peavey amp?

  • yeah, that's the death logo alright. chris (the drummer from autopsy you see in this video) played drums with death on their first lp 'scream bloody gore', who was later replaced by bill andrews.

  • great footage

  • This rules man. I used to work with Chris Reifert at a small blueprinting shop in Walnut Creek, CA...along with Clint Bowers of Hexx. Me and Chris used to trade off sarcastic jokes.....he was, and probably still is, a funny and crazy dude.

  • bow down pussies, to reifert, this is the real brutal shit. Fuckin' Autopsy

  • Chris Reifert = Death Metal

  • I love this song, one of my faves, but what about the guitar solo????

  • Remember guys Chris WAS in Death.

As far as "First Death Metal band" well I'm going to have to disagree with Possessed and Death holding that crown since they essencially played Thrash. Autopsy when writtintg songs they said "Well we bassically try and write a horror movie through music." Which to me...is what death metal should be

  • i still have a really old death rehearsal tape from around 1984 or so where they play all their early material at repulsion speed. i am not kidding you. this was around the time when chuck was looking for members to join his band, or a band join. slaughter and repulsion were two bands he bumped heads with in the beginnings of death.

  • Don't forget Chuck also recruted two members of Genocide (later Repulsion)for a placement in Death for just an EP or a few shows I think

  • yes, you're probably correct. i remember reading something like that in a 'zine. wow, i'm surprised someone actually knows this. thanks. there was a definate connection between these 3 bands in the early beginnings of death. autopsy, repulsion, death...all favorite bands of mine.

  • Yeah same. Well eccept Death. I only like maybe the first 2 death albums maybe the 3rd. The rest I either don't like at all or at least a few tracks.

  • the 'spiritual healing' lp was the last album i got into from death. i think that's a really good album. in fact, that's what i have in my stereo right now. after that came the 'human' lp i think, which i didn't like, and the same goes for the rest after that.

  • Yeah, they just got boring after that. With Chuck's ego and wanting to be "progressive" it just ended up with no direction.

Oh and let's not forget who else was around at this time, Slaughter, Obituary, lots. Out of all the early Death Metal bands Autopsy was my favourite. Impetigo are my favourite Death Metal band of all time tho. It's a shame the genre like so many good things went to shit and litterally became a parody of itself.

  • SKIN BEGINS TO ROT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great footage! and nice quality too....

  • thanks for sharing

  • man i love this track.Awesome vocals on severed survival, went a bit astray with later offerings. What a fucking great song though.

  • death may have created death metal but autopsy perfected death metal as we know it.

  • Jeff Beccera created death metal.

  • ah yes, my mistake. to be perfectly honest i'm not a big fan of possessed, but i respect and recognize them for the influence they had on alot of my favorite bands. DEATH METAL!

  • i think chris and his brother formed a new dm band together.. there is so raw and so brutal as evil autopsy. ok maybe bold thrower, cannibal corpse, morbid angel,or dismemner. but its not as slow and evil as autopsy

  • love that little kid in the background

  • Autopsy fucking slay, this is one of their best tunes, thanks for posting!!!

  • fuck ya

  • DEATH Metal at its finest houer... Fucking hardcore autopsy

  • oh my god! this is something totally awesome!!! we miss you chris, where are you now ??

  • this sounds it's good, but unfortunately I can't hear it as good as it suppose to... it sounds like it has been recorded at the shitstudio...

  • Nah the sound in the studio is prob good, the reason you think the sound is shit is because it was recorded on an 80's VHS recorder or worse then put onto a video tape then uploaded to youtube. Thats why the sound isn't prime quality. Still an awesome song, a classic!

  • lo maximo esa mierda es lo mejor

  • You can see why "scream bloody gore" was a great album! it was double power with Chris and Charles. This totally kicks ass!

    RIP Chuck.
