  • The 7th Cavalry was entrapped the day after the Wounded Knee Massacre. The 9th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers rescued the 7th Cavalry.

    Read the novel, Rescue at Pine ridge, the story of the rescue of the famed 7th Cavalry by the Buffalo Soldiers, and visit website; rescue at pine ridge. com. The novel embodies Native Americans, Outlaws and Buffalo Soldiers, in the days of the Native American Wars with the approach USA. Story is about, brutality, compassion, reprisal, bravery, heroism and gallantry.

  • @poshportia62 Hello Posh;

    I've read and saw a lot of movies about Custer. He was in West Point when the war broke out. He even had a slave or two. He chose to fight for the North and after a time he became hard as nails when it came to having any humanity. He did wipe out a lot of Indian camps under the orders of ole' honest abe. He showed no mercy. When the Indians got to him they showed no mercy either ;>}. The Indians here in South Dakota are still at odds with a town here named after him.

  • It makes my heart weep that Custer dishonored the pipes and all they stand for by playing them as he rode into battle. The pipes are meant to inspire heroes not cowards who kill women, children and old men.

  • @janegael You got a point there Jane. Several tribes of Indians were a bit unhappy with his politics too. They managed to do what my Southern ancestors were unable to do.

  • @janegael You have seen too many movies. Custer got a terribly undeserved bad rap. He actually only had two major battles in the Indian Wars and at Washita gave the command not to shoot women and children. Most of the killing there was done by Osage Scouts. He is an American hero, that has been blackballed unfairly.

  • You can believe this...The Bag Pipes have saved the lives of many a man...on both sides of the wars they've been played in. Those enemies that chose not to face the fighters behind those pipes and those who followed the the Bag Piper with everything from picks and shovels to the latest fire power known to mankind. Just a reminder.

  • Excellent

  • Errrm, wrong! Sorry to inform you Garryowen is now part of Limerick city!! :-(

  • awesome!!! love the pipes!!!

  • Rob;

    If you liked that you should visit my last recording of Larry in full dress uniform paying a tribute to both our fallen hero's and living Veteran's at the Black Hills National Cemetary less than a mile from where I live. I can hear the TAP's played every night there from here. You can watch that video here on Youtube at "Black Hills Nat Cemetery Tribute.mp4 Broadcast: Public ". Glad you were moved by the bagpipes played by Larry Creciston.

  • Hello Piper;

    Welllll, we can't all be perfect now can we??? I love this music no matter how you spell it or where it originated from or what the real title to the tunes are. I too like people. I like this man/piper and his way of life and his love for Wales, Scotland and Ireland. Too bad we all don't feel the same. What a wonderful world this world would be if we could see just a little good in everyone we meet. Sure, there are some real asinine in this world we could do without. He's not one.

  • i do believe there are supposed to be embellishments..

    maybe go back back onto the practice chanter for a few months, learn some shit, THEN go onto the pipes.

  • @piper540

    Amen.

  • If I'm not mistaken...Garryowen is derived from Gaelic meaning Owen's garden, which is a suburb of Limerick, Ireland. ...

    Then...maybe not.

  • good job but garry owen isn't scottish it's irish

  • I´m spanish, but when I hear a highland bagpipe my heart turns scottish. It is a cuestion of human sensibility, not of flags or competition. Thanks for de video and good luck.

  • @johnnyork Being Spanish you might like Galician Pipes! Some of the Celts moved through Northern Spain in ancient times on their way to Ireland & Scotland and left heritage on the way! ;)

  • Choeln;

    My ancestors are from Scotland. Larry is a friend of mine. We in the Glen/Glenn family have two crests from Scotland. Here in America we are proud of our Scottish ancestors and love to carry on traditions from the old country as you might call it. I've been to Scotland twice.

  • Choeln: 2

    I was there both times as a Merchant Marine and saw the tribute in Glasgow, Scotland for the Merchant Marines on the beach. I think it not to chivalrous of you to post such a comment to those here in the states that love the Scots and their way of life. The last time I was there I was stationed in Glencoe, Scotland and played and sang Country & Western music in the local pubs. Not once did I meet anyone there with the feelings you have toward Americans. Sorry 4 U, Get over it.

  • do you know where i could get an mp3 of garryowen done on teh Bagpipgs?

  • Hello Beatles Fan;

    I just now saw your post. You might Google Gary/Garry Owen or Garryowen/Garyowen and look for all the possibilities of finding some MP3's there. Sorry 'bout taking so long to answer your question. Hope you find what you're looking for.

  • You're most welcomed Phil. Love these bag pipe tunes Larry played that has gone down in history. See you next year in a brand new show.

    Travis
