if i remember rightly in this episode one of the scientists at holden's meeting was general peters ,a man on the plant tour bus was lord silton in vault of death,the guard at the australian atomic station was a fireflash pilot in operation crash dive,carela in the impostors ,macklin in the cham cham,genereal speyer was alos general lambert and colonel jameson and it looks ike commander norman and one of his control tower lieutenants are the on the tour bus
the security guard should win award for the most stupidest place to a have shoot-out, near building that has 'GAS' written on the white dome-shape glass. and the driver in the yellow car had a lucky escape at 5:56
@Doominator99 KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK so true!!!! its kinda warning: dont build anything new!!!!!! and the cost/benf factor ??????? all that cost and on to save, the most, 3 people !!!! xDDDD
I love how this tour guide makes his point so clear: "The chances of anything going wrong is very slim indeed"; "The reactor is under the complete control of the project staff. Nothing can go wrong." Can you guess what happens? Brilliant.
This show used to scare me when watching it on cartoonnetwork at night. The puppets used to scare me. I used to watch because I used to watch things even if I didn't like them.
The thing that always gets me is wherever The Hood goes, he always uses the same truck, whether its Australia, North Africa, Nevada or the Middle East. And how does he get around as well?
Huh. Apparently, in the future, there are no black people.
ALSO. The Hood has a weird Russian accent, but he looks kind of Japanese, and wears Thai Ballet costumes. Next thing you know we'll find out he only eats Mexican food.
@leharve80 Not true. There were black people on the Night Show and evening broadcasts and stuff like that. Also don't forget the black musicians on Ready Steady Go as well.
Not so far-fetched a concept really and would certainly be a good project - but whyowhy use natural gas too? Thats the bit which beggers belief sadly.
The Year Is 2054 (or something) The hodd is using a 19 36 luger? And lets stick a guard who avoids danger by jumping away infront of an unprotected gas silo. Very Good Thinking
"That's right, mates, the reactor is completely safe, so long as someone doesn't break this unprotected glass ball we have on the wall. If that happens it'll spew atomic waste over the entire continent. But don't worry, we'll stick one inept guard in the general area so it'll be okay, right?"
Did the Empire from Star Wars build this place? Man, I usually complain about health and safety restrictions, but if the Thunderbirds universe is the alternative maybe health and safety isn't so bad.
I love how the episode title always appears when the camera is looking at the thing that's going to get buggered this episode, like a little wink at the audience.
One of the reasosn the palnt exploded was because International rescue was not operational when the disaster occurred so maybe the hood foudn out about IR after this disaster
This episode is made of pure win. When I was young, I had a VHS tape with some recorded episodes from TV (only aired for a short time here), and this one was on it. This one has all the TB craft in it. It's a really good episode.
The guard will always make me chuckle though. 'LETS STAND IN FRONT OF HIGHLY EXPLOSIVES STUFF, cause WUT CULD GO WRUNG, RIGHT?'
This episode is strangely predictive of Chernobyl. The Chernobyl disaster's fallout was spread across a good part of Europe thanks to cross winds. In this episode, the austrailian fallout is blown away by the wind. What luck.
It's more eerie than that. When the camera zooms in on the dome with the reactor, the side reads AR4 - Atomic Reactor 4, the same number blew up in Chernobyl. Also the reasons are somehwat similiar - here they couldn't turn the water intake off, in Chernobyl they cut it off themselves.

@Shadon1010 so is with many thunderbirds episodes ! Like terror in new york city -> 9/11 , or the one with the oil drilling rig explosion -> BP gulf of mexico !
love the hoods vehicle. and his secret base in that malaysian temple. lady penelope is ying to his yang.

I think that with the way that fire is going at 6:29 even International Rescue couldn't get there int time to stop it

Why does everything new in thunderbirds get destroyed
FireFlash=new
Sidewinder=new
Thomson Tower=new
This Powerplant=new
No wonder the Thunderbirds have better technology than everyone else...because every time something new is created it blows up!

@Doominator99
It's one Gerry Anderson's many humanities of producing
"The sets cost half a million to construct, and the fact it we're only building them to destroy them. It's pretaty much just a waste."

I don't know what Gerry Anderson was thinking of when he did this. How can an irrigation system actually prevent total reactor shutdown?

Gerry Anderson predicted a lot of things, though. Like the first man on the Moon, and cordless telephones :)

Gerry Anderson more than likely heard JFK's speech about putting a man on the moon before the decade is out.
