@migasaguiar That's right, hippies can play bluegrass too dammit! Sam is my favorite, I had no idea who he was a few years ago when my uncle took me to a show of his in ALbuquerque. We got miracled into the front row and my mind was BLOWN! I was the typical kid sittin' there wide eyed with permagrin, I'll never forget it. Watched him at Hullabalou fest in Louisville this year, they didn't have much stage time but it was great anyway. And he encored during Dierks Bentleys set with him, so sweet.
i saw sam and his band in southern indiana almost 4 years ago i took tickets at the door i was invited to a infcrmal house party after the show he gave me a flat pick i gave it to tony rothrock indiana thumb pick champ once or twice flat pick at the last set sam played slide on an old national reso mandolin to a medley of old allman brothers tunes the whole show was flawless i remember he said that he should of kept his day time job sutch a great player there will never be another like that
Sam, it was great meeting you at the LAX airport ! You were very gracious and extremely cool to talk to ! Keep Rockin ! ....................... keysmcfly
I love Sam but the Newgrass Revival was the best. I'll take the Courtney Johnson or Bela Fleck Era. Anything Bela,Sam,Pat or John have done since the Newgrass Revival can't even come close. They are all great musicians but what they had together was special.
I agree with what you posted except in Bela's case. You may not like his style now but he's taken the banjo and his career way further than he could have by staying with NGR. As a group though, they were absolute top notch and I sometimes wish they would have stayed together.
Sam Bush, congratulations on your great talent and success! I went to the same high school with you (WCHS in the early '70s) many many moons ago and you and the other guys used to play in all the special music events in school! I remember a guy named Hank Thornton (who was in my grade) and his brother used to play with you guys, so much talent! Congrats!!
@slapyourmom58 This is GREAT!!!! I love Sam Bush. It was sad that after 4 songs at Grey Fox this year they had to stop the show because of lightening.
Just saw him play in flagstaff last night. Blew it away! phenomenal show

no matter how much people criticize him, because he wears t-shirts and whatnot, he'll always be the best.

Stephen Mougin on guitar. He's been with Sam's band for the past few years. He is truly awesome.
