Africans can redeem control over their land and resources by accumulating and ministering capital, organize industry catering to under-served [low -income i.e the global majority] markets by way of commercial enterprise in the form of :
Social Enterprise --(Social Programs that are turn into businesses)
Small and Medium Enterprise -- (Businesses that use a franchise model)
As an african, from 1 of the poorest nations, I have yet to believe that aid has or will ever benefit Africa. Stop the bloody tied aid transactions and let's do real trade.
All my life i had great respect for Red Cross and even done internships + work for them. Lately, after reading a book, I learned that the org. is taking away business from local businesses- eg: local bed net. more notes to follow
Outstanding speech. Not only will reform help, but so will Free Trade. Resources are being misallocated by our advanced countries from such protection. There are many solutions, which are being restrained. The truth of the matter is, is that it is partly our fault that developing countries are in that state of poverty. We only help countries who benefit us. Hence allowing trade.
The point isn't the amount of aid it's that it is tied as the speaker says and can only be spent on what the donor says. untied aid can achieve great things.
Awesome speech, I wish more people were aware of the points he brings up. Aid tends to benefit the countries that provide it, more than the countries that receive it.

In this way Africans can be self-reliant.

thats a great point - they rulers - the ones who receive the money, have no desire to reform.

The truth of the matter is, Africans have to help themselves. They have to be their own reformers with their own blood, sweat and tears.

$600 billion of aid since the 1960's! I agree that aid serves no purpose at all.
