Comedy is really, really hard to do. When it's good, it's so rare that it's a very special thing. Unfortunately, 'The Hour's cold openings have never come within flying distance of that special place.

I want to say it's because good comedy writers are always reacting against sacred cows and the blindly accepted mores of the majority, and everyone employed at 'The Hour' is a lock-step liberal, humourless automotan, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
