  • i dont understand why terran players do use sensor towers against protoss. Intel is so overpowered knowning what your enemy has and when they are moving out is very important and the reason i think the toss guy won. Terran in the dark toss knew everything.

  • @Iverath Because they're invisible units. They are seen blurry without vision, just like Ghosts/Banshees in clock or DTs.

  • @Iverath the theory behind cloak technology is they are able to manipulate the light around them to appear invisible but the object that is cloaked is still in fact there and would cast a shadow provided a light source imagine light from the sun like water hitting an object that is invisible

  • @princeofiron is that an excuse? how many games has he casted? he casts/commentates games for money and as a profession, and he missed the biggest turning point of this game. the DT drop made Thorzain go back to his base, allowing INcontrol to FF his ramp and attack his expo, killing a bunch of workers and stopping mining for a long time. Husky panned over the DT shrine several times and didn't make a single comment about it. he didn't even know there were DTs in the game.

  • @princeofiron on top of that, INcontrol had his warp prism flying around to warp behind Thorzain's base... which should have given him plenty of time catch that drop. Husky didn't even know there was a warp prism. and if not that, he should've seen 3 DTs being in the production tab. I'm guessing you're plat or below?

  • Protip: Make sentries, win by default. Force Field needs to be removed in HotS and Blizzard needs to figure out a way of making Gateway units useful without them.

  • Forcefield should NOT be removed. NOTHING should be removed. Stuff can be added, yes, like maybe a better Gateway unit?

    Anyway, burrowing Zerg units nagate the ForceField, so it doesnt ALWAYS work.

    Even versus Terran.

  • @P1zzaSH4RK Make barracks / factory / starport win by default, unless you get outplayed. All your tech comes from simply tech labs while other races need to actually choose a tech path. Learn2play.

  • @hoshinocrimsonwings I play Random, dude. Force Field is brokenly overpowered. Stimpack is brokenly overpowered. Fungal Growth is brokenly overpowered. Blizzard is designing races with deliberately overpowered mechanics in mind, which is fucking retarded. You HAVE to have these mechanics to win but I frankly think they greatly diminish the level of skill involved when they're present... because they're OP as shit.

  • @hoshinocrimsonwings I play Random and favor Protoss. I am aware of how goddamn terrible gateway units are compared to terran and zerg t1.5 until Charge/Blink. The point is that Force Field is purposefully designed as a crutch for underpowered units, which is fucking retarded. Sentries themselves, and Guardian Shield, are great and perfectly fine, but Force Field is overpowered as hell... and was designed that way.

    So was Stimpack (when combined with Medivacs.)

  • @cenafrk, lol, if protoss gets colos, terran needs vikings. its as easy as that. he had a macro disadvantage, but it wouldve still been doable, if he didnt lose the factory and if he had made vikings in time. dropping a scan once in a while to find out the enemies main tech isnt so bad if you cant get any drops in

  • @Ghruul, still, if you can snipe the colos, in a best case scenario (which is also not that unlikely) before the fight, protoss is fucked. protoss cant deal with a sizeable mm(m) army that has stim and better ups without aoe damage units. in mid-late game protoss cant survive vs terran without colos/hts and terran is all about nullifying these 2 units.

    Collossus and HT do NOT require micro. You throw them at the army, psi storm, and boom. You're done. The attacks all stack and murder the opposing army with no effort.

    Go on, fight a protoss with nothing but tanks, thors, and hellions. It can't be done.

    Terran units require more micro than Attack+movetoss will ever need.

  • @MysteryAC, colos and hts may not require micro if you play vs players up to platinum level. from there on out you have to be careful with positioning your hts, sniping ghosts with feed back, not getting colos out of position, form arcs if you expect attacks, keep your chargelots back if enemy is kiting, blinking your stalkers and sniping vikings and move colos according to the positioning of vikings. thats whats required from diamond level onwards (at least in europe)

  • @MysteryAC, on the other hand, all terran has to do is kiting (which does take a lot of effort concerning multitasking, but pretty much no skill), form arcs with mms, snipe colos, feedback/snipe hts and then stim and a move. the micro might be more intense but takes a lot less skill and time to master. and terran has the advantage, that they can produce units while concentrating on battle. protoss and zerg need to go back to hatches/pylons (which does of course offer other advantages)

    Did you ever consider WHY MMM is so strong against protoss? Because NOTHING else can fight a protoss army.

    An entire tank line can be made useless by 5 zealots drawing all the fire while blink stalkers close the gap, and collossus and immortals can just bumrush them without fail. Hellions require ALOT of micro, and they only counter zealots. Thors get slapped hard by HTs, immortals and stalks.

  • @MysteryAC, in rts games you always have unit compositions which fare well against other u.c. . in tvp, mmm is most common for terrans and protoss has to adapt to that. and you should realize that theres a counter to every unit and the unit mixture is what makes it strong and therefore terran does have some options; ive for example already seen and lost to mass marines with banshees, which is really strong in midgame.

  • @MysteryAC There is one question i want to ask a terran since quite a while: Why no bf hellions against this mass charge zealot style? I mean, they are cheap and pretty cost-effective.

    On paper BF hellions would be good against chargelots, but it doesn't work in execution.

    Chargelots will always get to do damage thanks to the most recent patches, and hellions need them to be in a group, in a narrow corridor for them to do max damage. Zealots just need to get in your face to do the damage.

    Plus, psi storm and sentries are a death dealer to the hellion, which can't take splash damage and needs to be mobile to be effective.

  • @MysteryAC Yeah, i think the nerv of the BF should be removed and Ghosts should make more dos. Or Tanks/Banshees/Thors/BC's should be made more useful, I don't know.

    EXACTLY. If we had a decent tier 2 and 3, I'd gladly take a nerf to tier 1, but most of our mech can be slapped silly, and thats counting the stuff that ISN'T considered a hard counter (AKA immortals)

  • Meanwhile, with a protoss army, ANY unit is viable. You can constantly harass his lack of detection with DTs, make him waste scans, money on ravens and turrets.

    OR you can hard counter a heavy mech ball or marauders with immortals, and if he tries going mass ghosts, you can mass zealots and collossus. Then if he tries going vikings, you can just mass up stalkers. People don't think about it much, but protoss DOES have an easy time tech switching, and warp-ins help alot.

  • @MysteryAC, going dts early game is an allin move, because you lack units to expand and battle the opponent with this costly tech path. in mid game, theyre quite good but at the same time deny other tech paths like colos and hts which you need for direct confrontation, therefore youre vulnerable at that time. in lategame, you can mix em in but theyre not so effective anymore. and protoss has a really hard time switching tech until late game, because you lack unitpower and just lose.

  • @turkeysonmeth2 LOL. firstly the question should be what counters zealot + COLLOSI, seeing you say kiting doesn't work well under collosi fire, even thought it works fine. the only time kiting doesn't work vs toss is when the toss lays down force fields. ghosts auto take off half a zealots health. If you don't know how to deal with ZEALOTS, there's something seriously wrong with your play. l2 emp, win most of your tvps.

Mass ghosts and of course the 3m bio ball kills all. but thorzain never got the chance to really get the right amount of vikings because he was restricted most of the time, but goes both ways i suppose.

    Kiting zealots isn't the most effective strategy under fire of collosus. I swear, every PvT i play (I play toss too) I just do a 2base charge timing and it still has yet to lose. Im only in plat tho...

    Blizzard made battle mode hellions because of chargelots. Even says in the demo.

  • Husky missed how masterful INcontrol's timing attack was. He DT dropped in the main to draw ThorZain's army back so he could march his own army right into ThorZain's natural and FF the ramp. That's why ThorZain's entire army was in his base and why the nat was unguarded.
