A motor is a generator and generator is a motor seems kinda baffling but if you could make a self running motor-gen you could have propetual motion machine but driving a load would another issue along with friction and heat generation from Lenz law. Free energy is nice but a reality is breaking down the right methods to make something happen is harder then just using energy to make energy.
@egn83b That is correct. If this motor was turned by another motor it would likely produce less than 10% of the electricity used to turn it. However, if connected to a windmill, it could be used as a turbine. There is no such thing as a perpetual motion machine or "free energy".
I made a motor generator SPOOF .. click on my name to see my video.. or look at the video respocnce if it's there.. ( owner has to approve) I hope he approves it~
Well all motors with permanent magnets will work as a generator. Question is just how well. If you can get hold of some big old A3 printers from the 80es or early 90es you've got jackpot. Several motors with very high efficiency. And if lucky there's some of the iron-core less type which are about as efficient you can get them. And the best - it's even at very low speed. The same is try if supplied with power. Great torque at low speed. Todays printers just use cheap motors high tech controlled.

I made a wind generator that runs off my fan and powers one led. It's in my videos somewhere.

How would i charge a battery with a motor? What other device or circuit would be needed?

@Comfytees "How would i charge a battery"
Need a diode to block reverse current when the motorgenerator is pausing,
and a crank handle to drive it. That's all.

Now to make it big enough to power the house. :)

Thats interesting. I wonder if you could do something like that on a big scale.
cqallenwalker 3 years ago
Actually, you can. The motors from exercise treadmills are often used by enthusiasts as generators.

yes it can be done on a big scale.... its called a generator

Wow. I sent that message almost a YEAR ago.

Hey, that's a pretty nice discovery! Hooray for recycling.
