In fact, declawing is now forbidden and illegal in over 24 countries in Europe since May 2004. the reasons are:
"Because declawing performed under general anesthesia is irreversible and painful surgery that could lead to complications.
Because declawing should be the last solution to be considered to prevent an owner to give or to euthanize the cat because he was unable to educate him.
Because no owner can not guarantee that her cat, stripped of his defenses, never escape from the house."
I know some vets here in my country who stop declawing cats and don't want to do that again because of the pain inflicted to cats during the procedure and just after... That's what they said! A friend of mine is in vet school and after seeing a procedure of declawing he told me he will never do that to a cat. So I think it's a cruel thing to do to animals only for human comfort!
I am all for delcawing cats as long as they stay indoors only because it is pointless to declaw a cat and sit it outside. My neighbours have cats and they are declawed and they don't mind or know any different and are happier and healthier than any other cat I've known. Even happier than my cats that are clawed that stay inside and outside.
Cat breeders make me sick. Do you know how many cats lives could have been saved at the pound for the cost of one of these cats? ALOT. Selfish people. These cats can cost up to 8 or 9 grand!!
Wild animals aren't pets. Humans are far more domesticed. If you love animals you should respect them, preserve their natural habitat and not try to domestic wild animals.
Coming from a vet tech to settle this declawing argument....when done at a young age they heal quickly and never notice a difference. It's when people do it to OLDER cats that problems arise. Most become agressive and take to biting a lot. It is the equivalant of removing from the tip of your finger to the first bend in your finger from there. That's what it is taking off of them. It isn't necessarily cruel but there are better options out there, like soft paws, so people don't declaw as much.
@Esperonza This is a stupid argument. I understand that you´ll never understand why declawing is the most cruel thing you can do to a feline. I wont educate you or even be nasty to you as you deserve. Try to understand we are talking about an animal that is defined by it´s natural instincts and defences.Without it it´s a pillow! Claws are a vital part of the defence. I suggest you pull out your own nails and see if it its ok for you. Please get back when you have and tell us if it´s allright!
@nonlinusal You say I deserve for you to be nasty to me? For one they do not TEAR OUT cat's claws. They put them under and cut them out. For two you obviously did not read everything I said. You just automatically jumped on my case. I said, did I not, there were BETTER options out there. Thereby stating I do not fully support declawing. I explained what it was like taking them off, but off course people will see and believe what they want. You do not need to educate me as you, yourself....
@nonlinusal are set in your ways and are obviously not educated about the ins and outs of the operations. It is not CRUEL in the way you are thinking. If it was, licensed veterinarians would NEVER do the procedure now would they? I work behind the scenes with vets and have seen the good, bad, and ugly. Believe me, declawing is done more humanly then a lot of other procedures out there. Cats live normal lives without their claws IF the procedure is done at a YOUNG age. Claws are apart of defense
@Esperonza yes, BUT if they are stricly an indoor cat, tell me what it is they are defending themselves against? We are not talking about wild cats, we are talking about domesticated animals. If it can be avoided, and vets will tell you this if they are good vets, it is best to get something like soft paws to keep claws covered, much like fake nails. If a cat is an indoor/outdoor cat, we, at our clinic, always try and talk people out of declawing as OUTSIDE yes they need defense. Inside...no.
I gotta agree with cards696 on that one... Same reason why you don't allow your kids go near the traffic. Why do you think kids try to catch a bee once with their bare hands and never again? Cause it hurts same way with cats, you don't piss a cats off in general cause then they will retaliate...
@missprincessfifi I would like to point out that my account was hacked right around the time of that comment. If you were to look at my channel I happen to have two cats myself, and both the grammar and sheer idiocy of that comment was so far beneath me it makes me shudder.
@Tyansilliya Really? If your account was attacked that is pretty awful! I am glad you agree about the sheer idiocy :P I didnt look at your channel but that is great you have 2 cats, I have 3 :)
Serval's are wild animals, breeding a cat that can slash you like a knife is dangerous and de-clawing such animal is cruelty. Wild cats should not be "must" have gifts or pets. Worked with mountain lions and these are just as wild and can freak out on instinct anytime.
Whoa funny how people start treating bigger cats as dogs xD "at a boy" that's something you say to a dog xD and the rough way that man petted the cat, that's also more of a way to pet a dog. Yet with small cats they put up a high voice and baby talk and pet softly.
@konohamarutard You should see my cats, then. They LOVE being beat up like that. Rover (yes, he's a cat) and Gypsy both like being scratched like a dog, back and forth, HARD. Gypsy also likes being thumped in the ribs with an open hand, as long as it's not too hard. It' not that cats don't like a little rough love, it's just people don't understand what their cats want. They think cats are graceful and delicate, when they're actually as resilient as a rubber ball...
@daltonultra Not all cats like that! Some cats absolutely hate it so it is more about reading signals. one of my cats doesn't like being picked up or held so I only do it very briefly. I need to be able to pick her up and I have learnt not to push the limit too far.
@missprincessfifi Absolutely! Cats are as unique as humans, and their preferences are just as varied. If you can read their signals and body language, you can get a cat to pretty much lose their little mind. But of course, the other end of the spectrum is the cat that will tear your hand off no matter how you approach them. It's all about personality.
@daltonultra Haha lose their little mind :P Yes I met a cat who was like that. Her name was Rosie but she was known as psycho Rosie. If you reached out to her she would just swipe at you! I think cats like her are rare because even ferals aren't like that usually. I love cats :D
heh, don't make the mistake of thinking even a domestic cat is "tame". Unlike a domestic dog, cats have really only been bred for appearance. Perhaps a little bit of a wild cat's temper has been bred out, but they're still a wild animal that puts up with us because we feed them... Yon Serval is only a few minor genes away from the black-and-white kitty sitting on your lap, as proven by the fact that they cross-breed so easily.
@daltonultra So true, I have a european short hair, and if I even come close with the nail cutter to her nails, she starts hissing and if I try to force cut her nails well, my entire arm is full of scratches X_X The only way for me to be able to cut her nails is through the vet when she's paralized.
@konohamarutard Wow... that's kind of an over-the-top reaction... Have you thought of getting her paws X-rayed? There could be something causing her pain when you hold her paw to clip her. The only cat we ever had that did more than grumble and try to pull away was suffering from Feline Lukemia, which can affect behavior long before it shows physically. HE went up my dad's arm like it was corn-on-the-cob...
@daltonultra She does have female leukemia, I have to giver her cat medicine. The vet said as long as she doesn't get sick she will live her life normally like any other cat.
I can pet her and stuff and it doesn't look like she's in pain. I wasn't allowed to clip her nails long before she got the illness xD she's always been a fiesty one.
Always fighting outside with other cats, that's how she got it in the first place.
@konohamarutard Crap... that sucks... we lost four cats to FeLuk, and another to FIV... Two were rescues that probably had it when we brought them in, because we had them vaccinated and they still got it. The other two were inherited from my grandmother, who apparently thought they were fine because they were inside cats. The FIV... he'd had the vaccine, but it's not a guarantee. He fought it for seven years of crash-and-recover before we finally decided he couldn't go through it again.
@daltonultra So they got a flue or something and couldn't fight it cuz of the leukemia? Because my cat's just fine, it's the fact I know she's sick and give her her medicine, but otherwise I'd think she's perfectly healthy. It's not like she'll just be in grave pain from one day to another right? feline leukemia is more comparable to human aids than to human cancer.
@konohamarutard Well, it was different for each. Dopple just crashed and went downhill overnight. Max went nuts about his paws and we had to have him declawed(only cat we ever declawed...). He had another couple healthy years, then had a few weeks of being sick before the end. Rime was healthy, then crashed, and a week later we had to put him down. Floyd... it went to Floyd's liver. He threw up green for a couple years, but was otherwise healthy until he began losing weight over a few months.
@daltonultra Oh well that's scary o.o;;; I didn't realize my cat could just crash like that :o
And I always forcecuddle with her aww... I do give her whiskas candy every day though, dentabits and temptations, and occasionally she hunts down a mouse. xD
suppose I'll stop force cuddling her ^^;; and just let her be. but it's hard. when I see her I just want to snuggle and pet because that's how I express how much I love someone...
It's weird because she doesn't like it, but starts pur really loud
@konohamarutard Purring can be a sign that they don't like what you're doing. The only reliable thing with cats is body language. But if she's not clawing to get away, go ahead and cuddle her. If nothing else, it shows her who's boss... =^.^=
@daltonultra Oh, well that's news to me, I always linked purring with playtime or happiness. She's definetly clawing to get away when I cuddle her. It's like, carrying her around is no problem, but if I lay down and have her rest on my belly she goes mad, she really doesn't like being on human body, she will never sit on my lap either. It's then when I force her to cuddle or be on my lap, and then she claws to get away. I'll try not to do it anymore..
@konohamarutard A cat's purr is a reaction to basically any strong emotion. Happiness, playfulness, anger, fear, or pain. But if the claws come out, or if she "squawks", it means she's had enough of whatever is going on. The next step is usually furry-explosion-with-claws-and-teeth-and-hurting-and-blood time, X_X
I've been around cats literally my entire life. My "older sister" was a bitchy calico cat with anger issues, so picking up on those little signals was a survival issue for me.
@daltonultra LOL okay xD well I usually limit the cuddle time to short and then allow her to escape. She's got pretty strong arms, she can pull open the door with one of her paws, something she does a lot and we have pretty heavy doors. But yeah, at times she's just feral. I just pet her normally, and all of a sudden she scratches me, then I slap her hip. (not very hard, sort of like the dog whisperer does with dogs) then she goes into submission state, as if she's scared of me.
@daltonultra Why did you get him declawed? I'm so against it so I'm curious as to why because it sounds like you aren't really in favour of it. I think it is such a selfish act that humans do and it is so painful and causes extreme behavioural problems and depression as well as affecting the way they walk.
@missprincessfifi I'm VERY much against de-clawing. Unfortunately, Max became psychotic about his feet being touched, and we weren't able to keep his claws clipped. Even though he was allowed out, his claws were growing long enough to cause him some problems. It was at the point where we believed that the risk of problems was preferable for him to having us chase him down and muzzle him every other week for the rest of his life.
@daltonultra I had a feeling it would be one of the rare cases where you were not doing it for your own selfish reasons aka to protect your furniture. I live in Australia and declawing is illegal nationally. The only exception is if they have a medical problem like a claw needs removing because it is deformed etc. Is he an indoor cat now? I hope so! My boy cat goes pretty feral about getting his claws clipped but I don't need to do it often anyway.
@missprincessfifi Unfortunately, the behavior problem was an early symptom of Feline Leukemia, which we didn't find out he had until well after the surgery. He passed about a year and a half later. That was about 15 years ago.
@konohamarutard Doc was the one with FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, like human HIV. He went through a long cycle of getting very sick for a few weeks, then recovering for several months. But each time he went down, his gums got infected, and eventually he lost most of his teeth. Still he was almost 15 when he finally went down bad enough that we had him put down.
Anybody that reads this, please, PLEASE have your cats and kittens tested and vaccinated for feline leukemia and FIV.
@daltonultra Oh did Doc get medicine? My cat gets dexamethason (ecuphar) every 2 days, it's to keep her immune system up. Because of her feline leukemia her wounds wouldn't heal, that's how we found out about it cuz she had a wound on her leg that wouldn't heal. But with the cat medicine her imune system is back up again so she can heal herself and live a normal cat life.
The vet said if she shows any signs of ilness, come immediately.
@konohamarutard Doc got more medicine than I care to think about. I'm not sure what all he was on, but there were pills, shots, and drops, in various combinations at various times over the years.
@konohamarutard They're both extremely bad. The first time a cat goes down with either is usually the last. Doc was an exceptional case, and it took a lot of determination, as well as a lot of money, to bring him back each time he went down. My mother poured her heart into keeping him alive.
@daltonultra FIV can only be tested after the cat is a year I have heard. Also don't vaccinate for either! Vaccines have been known to actually kill cats. If your cat isn't going outside and getting in fights, and it shouldn't really be going outside to wander alone anyway because of safety reasons (get an enclosure) there shouldn't be a concern for catching FIV
@missprincessfifi Please don't advise against vaccinations unless you have a veterinary degree and some idea of their affects beyond the conspiracy theory drek spewed by alarmists. Deaths are as rare in cats as they are in humans, but FIV and Feline Leukemia are becoming more and more common. They're horrific diseases, far worse than any effect a vaccine may have. Watch one cat go through that, and you'll change you mind quickly. We lost FOUR to FeLuk, and another to FIV.
@daltonultra I am part of a cat rescue who won't use those vaccines because of the fatalities and also one of the people who was also involved studied as a vet nurse. To say it is spread by 'alarmists' is a bit extreme - there have been deaths caused by the vaccine so it is a true concern. I know a cat with FIV and she is fine! She is really happy and such a lovely little cat. If a vaccine kills a healthy cat that is worse. Like I said, FIV is usually spread through cat fights.
@missprincessfifi I say "alarmists" and I will say "conspiracy theorists", because when I pin someone down, and demand hard numbers instead of anecdotes, they typically respond by getting pissed off and insulting me and accusing me of not doing my research, instead of simply linking me to the same place they got their information. I have NEVER had somebody against vaccines actually link me to hard numbers or an article with valid attributions. For humans OR cats.
@konohamarutard Just don't clip her claws, get a scratching post if you don't already have one. Unless they are real talons they don't really need clipping...
@missprincessfifi oh they need clipping alright xD when she walks on the floor you can hear her nails click as if they were high heels xD
She does have a scratchingpost, those cardboard ones because she preferes those best and atm there's construction on the house so there's no room for a big one. Those little ones are too small for her body, I bought one a couple years back you can see it in one of my vids called pussy new scratchingpost xD
@colossalko What? get a dog instead of a cat? Or you could be a responsible cat owner and enclose an area for your cat so they don't get out into fights...
@suze73 Actually, Servals take very well to domestic life, and are most likely the starting point for your domestic cats. The Egyptians kept Servals as pets, and the tradition has continued in Africa to the present day. Behaviorally, there is little difference between a Serval and a domestic house cat. It's a far cry from the lions and tigers that have caused so much controversy lately here in Ohio.
My cat has those patterns, but He doesn't have the large ears and is silver/black with some white on his chest/belly/legs. I think he's more of an Egyptiam mau but they have the same personality, I would hate to think he is part serval cause then I wouldn't be able to keep him. He is only 4 months old and stands 2.5 feet on his hind legs. Big kitty.
@aspurr20 But dogs are far more dangerous untrained. Cats have different personalities and also they are not pack animals like dogs. They are always going to be this way
I refuse to even have a normal sized, normal cat food diet cat....because of the upkeep and the food care. No way in hell would I be buying an overpriced, wild animal that requires a RAW MEAT diet on top of it. And folks are running around like Chicken Little crying about Government waste, no jobs, losing/paying for health care benefits...yet, extraordinaryly, folks can find the money to buy and upkeep an exotic animal...wow. I wonder how many of those *complaining* folks own one of these....
Savannahs can be fed regular good-quality cat food and receive the same shots and health care as a domestic cat. All of our kittens are fully litter box trained and properly vaccinated before they go to their new owners.....
So... yeah, you are wrong... Pure Cervals are another story, however, those do need special diet and care, and, unlike savannahs, are illegal to keep most places.
I hate it when people keep wild acats and hybrids as pets. They rather off being in the wild or at the zoo than ending up as a pet. If you want a cat so bad and walk it on a leash like a dog, go get a kitten or a cat from the shelter..
@strikerstizake at first I thought that too but the vet thinks he may only be part Bombay and something else. he does have some long legs and he has a bigger nose than normal cats. so not sure. He does tend to hide and pounce a lot...
@wieselchenchan No sure what servals cost to be honest. They are cheaper than F1 Savannahs as far as I am aware (up to $22k - easier to breed I guess. The bigger cost will be in caring from the cat properly over the lifetime of the cat (enclosures etc.).
@wieselchenchan yes but for a little while try to keep them away from eachother till there use to eachother being in the house. But ive seen them cuddling with dog and playing with cats so there pretty good.. but if you mistreat the serval then it wil attack you and the cat
@bigj651 Oh thankyou for your presumptious opinion. I actually have some experience with cat rescue and the novelty attached to 'breeds'. Sure these cats are cool and I would be excited to meet one but knowing how many animals get killed in pounds and seeing the result of irresponsible ownership, the condition of cats that were rescued (mangled legs, completely emaciated, extremely sick with cat flu) I think I am more than entitled to recommend saving lives rather than creating more!
@wieselchenchan Agreed. We have one serval and one F1 savannah. The cost is in the care required: special vet visits. federal/state permits, lots and lots of raw meat food with special supplements, and modifications to the home and yard to prevent escape. However... in the end, they are really great to have around.
You know why "little" cats are tame? Because they cant eat you. If the has evolved to eat stuff smaller than it, it wont try to eat you because you are bigger. As far as fighting, cats are predators and only attack, they don't defend, only attack.
@iRainbowUnicorn actually there are numerous stories of cats defending their homes against intruders and in cats the females in the wild pick out a territory they then fight off all other cats, defending that territory, until they come into heat and then they will allow a male in to mate, but other females they will fiercely defend their territory against
@Schoonercutie I know cats defend, me saying "bull shit cats don't defend" was a reply to "cats are predators and only attack, they don't defend, only attack."
@78motomag Your argument seems correct apart from the suggestion that cats don't defend. It is well known that cats in fact do defend. They are territorial and they attack to defend or preserve their territory. A mother cat would defend her kittens and attack anything in her way
My cat hisses at me and claws at me when he is pissed off, so I hug him and then he rubs his face all over me like I just gave him a big bowl of raw chicken...
@175myles haha that is SO CUTE! Pretty sure it made my day :) oh cats are hilarious. They are so intelligent and individual. I just can't see slobbering barking dogs in the same way. Plus I live with a barking, aggressive shit of a dog who thankfully isn't mine. Mind you it is a direct reflection of his owners poor socialising skills.
@missprincessfifi, I have a friendly little dog, she is quiet and wouldn't bite you to harm you. My Cat and Dog are very placid animals, but they both can get very nasty if treated wrong, but that's like everything really. The evil is pushed away into a dark corner and only comes out when needed.
@MistressMarti Humans like to think they are gods by trying to 'domesticate' animals. Look at circuses! Such cruelty to animals to make people feel like they can control a tiger or elephant. Humans are quite pathetic. Did you know that some people are trying to domesticate wolves? I don't know much about it but I saw it in National Geographic. Like there aren't enough dogs and cats without homes getting killed in shelters.
people should NOT own exotic or exotic hybrid animals. just because one person might be able to care for them doesn't mean that everyone else is.. how sad
@chichirinuriko20 100% with you! As much as I adore animals and would be excited to play with a Serval, it just seems wrong to me. Cats all love being outside. I have 3 cats and they love going outside but in an enclosed area. They love it but love being outside more (I need to make it bigger) and I can imagine this Serval is similar but the difference is my cats are big babies who come inside to sleep and it takes all 3 of them to kill a cockroach, in 15 minutes! lol :)
@susromf5 I would ask that sort of question. There is no prospect of this cat fighting a dog. I would doubt that they would fight. They would steer clear of each other. However, small domestic cats can beat dogs in a fight if forced to fight.
@broadsurf ummm nooooooo. I guess if ur talking about some stupid lap dog. I have a husky and it would literally kill ur cat for fun. it wouldnt care that u proly spent about 5g's for the thing.
Uh your all stupid, and forgetting tha we - evolved - to train animals for our benefit not - theirs- sorry it's the way the world turns, if a spider went vegan, we would be surrounded by bugs and probably be exterminated by them. The food chain, the circle of lfe GET THE FUCK OVER IT
@Tyansilliya You are so passionately uneducated and isn't it interesting how you have to be insulting to try and get yourself heard. Humans are the only species with the ability to actually have awareness of our level. If you hadn't noticed, humans are no where near the top of the food chain when it comes to our physical structure. Spiders don't have the cognitive awareness to become vegan. Do you realise how moronic your hypothetical situation was?
I breed Burmese and Siamese in Australia but unless you have an outdoor run I think it is cruel to breed these animals as pets. They may also end up under the wheels of a car if allowed outside or terrify neighbours.
@ibasicallytotalyrule You are incorrect I am pleased to report. I know that this serval has all his claws because I picked him up and he inadvertently scratched my neck. It was my fault.
@dacel88 I live in Australia and it is illegal to declaw cats here. THANKGOD! It is disgusting and it really shows how selfish and narcissistic people are; if they need to protect their furniture by crippling and disfiguring their cat.
@missprincessfifi that statement is incorrect, if you plan to have your pet an inddor pet and you have small children it is a good idea to declaw them. The cats can accidently hurt children without meaning to. Declawing an indoor cat is not painfull to the animal at all.
@card969 Why do you think it has been banned in many countries at places? Because it is CRUEL and inhumane. If you have small children, don't get a cat! Who are you to say my statement is incorrect. The majority would agree with me and any true cat lover would as well. Clearly you have no idea of that actual operation. Their claws are attached to the bone and so many of the cats end up with behavioural problems from it. Declawing is INHUMANE. No debate so don't bother responding thankyou.
@card969 Do you even know what de-clawing means? It's not just getting rid of the claws. They amputate the entire last joint of the toe. Imagine having the last bone in every one of your fingers and toes cut off. It can leave permanent nerve damage, problems walking, problems with balance, even life-long debilitating pain. It alters their personality and leaves them defenseless. If you're that worried about your kids, then DON'T GET A CAT. Or teach your brats not to fuck with the cat.
if i had a cat like that i would only live in a rural area and train it to run around and come back like a dog.

Serval's are wild animals, breeding a cat that can slash you like a knife is dangerous and de-clawing such animal is cruelty. Wild cats should not be "must" have gifts or pets. Worked with mountain lions and these are just as wild and can freak out on instinct anytime.

shuffman89 1 month ago
Whoa funny how people start treating bigger cats as dogs xD "at a boy" that's something you say to a dog xD and the rough way that man petted the cat, that's also more of a way to pet a dog. Yet with small cats they put up a high voice and baby talk and pet softly.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard You should see my cats, then. They LOVE being beat up like that. Rover (yes, he's a cat) and Gypsy both like being scratched like a dog, back and forth, HARD. Gypsy also likes being thumped in the ribs with an open hand, as long as it's not too hard. It' not that cats don't like a little rough love, it's just people don't understand what their cats want. They think cats are graceful and delicate, when they're actually as resilient as a rubber ball...
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra Not all cats like that! Some cats absolutely hate it so it is more about reading signals. one of my cats doesn't like being picked up or held so I only do it very briefly. I need to be able to pick her up and I have learnt not to push the limit too far.
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi Absolutely! Cats are as unique as humans, and their preferences are just as varied. If you can read their signals and body language, you can get a cat to pretty much lose their little mind. But of course, the other end of the spectrum is the cat that will tear your hand off no matter how you approach them. It's all about personality.
daltonultra 1 month ago
@daltonultra Haha lose their little mind :P Yes I met a cat who was like that. Her name was Rosie but she was known as psycho Rosie. If you reached out to her she would just swipe at you! I think cats like her are rare because even ferals aren't like that usually. I love cats :D
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
heh, don't make the mistake of thinking even a domestic cat is "tame". Unlike a domestic dog, cats have really only been bred for appearance. Perhaps a little bit of a wild cat's temper has been bred out, but they're still a wild animal that puts up with us because we feed them... Yon Serval is only a few minor genes away from the black-and-white kitty sitting on your lap, as proven by the fact that they cross-breed so easily.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra So true, I have a european short hair, and if I even come close with the nail cutter to her nails, she starts hissing and if I try to force cut her nails well, my entire arm is full of scratches X_X The only way for me to be able to cut her nails is through the vet when she's paralized.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard Wow... that's kind of an over-the-top reaction... Have you thought of getting her paws X-rayed? There could be something causing her pain when you hold her paw to clip her. The only cat we ever had that did more than grumble and try to pull away was suffering from Feline Lukemia, which can affect behavior long before it shows physically. HE went up my dad's arm like it was corn-on-the-cob...
Otherwise... wow. Nasty temper.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra She does have female leukemia, I have to giver her cat medicine. The vet said as long as she doesn't get sick she will live her life normally like any other cat.
I can pet her and stuff and it doesn't look like she's in pain. I wasn't allowed to clip her nails long before she got the illness xD she's always been a fiesty one.
Always fighting outside with other cats, that's how she got it in the first place.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard Crap... that sucks... we lost four cats to FeLuk, and another to FIV... Two were rescues that probably had it when we brought them in, because we had them vaccinated and they still got it. The other two were inherited from my grandmother, who apparently thought they were fine because they were inside cats. The FIV... he'd had the vaccine, but it's not a guarantee. He fought it for seven years of crash-and-recover before we finally decided he couldn't go through it again.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra So they got a flue or something and couldn't fight it cuz of the leukemia? Because my cat's just fine, it's the fact I know she's sick and give her her medicine, but otherwise I'd think she's perfectly healthy. It's not like she'll just be in grave pain from one day to another right? feline leukemia is more comparable to human aids than to human cancer.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard Well, it was different for each. Dopple just crashed and went downhill overnight. Max went nuts about his paws and we had to have him declawed(only cat we ever declawed...). He had another couple healthy years, then had a few weeks of being sick before the end. Rime was healthy, then crashed, and a week later we had to put him down. Floyd... it went to Floyd's liver. He threw up green for a couple years, but was otherwise healthy until he began losing weight over a few months.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra Oh well that's scary o.o;;; I didn't realize my cat could just crash like that :o
And I always forcecuddle with her aww... I do give her whiskas candy every day though, dentabits and temptations, and occasionally she hunts down a mouse. xD
suppose I'll stop force cuddling her ^^;; and just let her be. but it's hard. when I see her I just want to snuggle and pet because that's how I express how much I love someone...
It's weird because she doesn't like it, but starts pur really loud
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard Purring can be a sign that they don't like what you're doing. The only reliable thing with cats is body language. But if she's not clawing to get away, go ahead and cuddle her. If nothing else, it shows her who's boss... =^.^=
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra Oh, well that's news to me, I always linked purring with playtime or happiness. She's definetly clawing to get away when I cuddle her. It's like, carrying her around is no problem, but if I lay down and have her rest on my belly she goes mad, she really doesn't like being on human body, she will never sit on my lap either. It's then when I force her to cuddle or be on my lap, and then she claws to get away. I'll try not to do it anymore..
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard A cat's purr is a reaction to basically any strong emotion. Happiness, playfulness, anger, fear, or pain. But if the claws come out, or if she "squawks", it means she's had enough of whatever is going on. The next step is usually furry-explosion-with-claws-and-teeth-and-hurting-and-blood time, X_X
I've been around cats literally my entire life. My "older sister" was a bitchy calico cat with anger issues, so picking up on those little signals was a survival issue for me.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra LOL okay xD well I usually limit the cuddle time to short and then allow her to escape. She's got pretty strong arms, she can pull open the door with one of her paws, something she does a lot and we have pretty heavy doors. But yeah, at times she's just feral. I just pet her normally, and all of a sudden she scratches me, then I slap her hip. (not very hard, sort of like the dog whisperer does with dogs) then she goes into submission state, as if she's scared of me.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@daltonultra Why did you get him declawed? I'm so against it so I'm curious as to why because it sounds like you aren't really in favour of it. I think it is such a selfish act that humans do and it is so painful and causes extreme behavioural problems and depression as well as affecting the way they walk.
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi I'm VERY much against de-clawing. Unfortunately, Max became psychotic about his feet being touched, and we weren't able to keep his claws clipped. Even though he was allowed out, his claws were growing long enough to cause him some problems. It was at the point where we believed that the risk of problems was preferable for him to having us chase him down and muzzle him every other week for the rest of his life.
daltonultra 1 month ago
@daltonultra I had a feeling it would be one of the rare cases where you were not doing it for your own selfish reasons aka to protect your furniture. I live in Australia and declawing is illegal nationally. The only exception is if they have a medical problem like a claw needs removing because it is deformed etc. Is he an indoor cat now? I hope so! My boy cat goes pretty feral about getting his claws clipped but I don't need to do it often anyway.
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi Unfortunately, the behavior problem was an early symptom of Feline Leukemia, which we didn't find out he had until well after the surgery. He passed about a year and a half later. That was about 15 years ago.
daltonultra 1 month ago
@konohamarutard Doc was the one with FIV, Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, like human HIV. He went through a long cycle of getting very sick for a few weeks, then recovering for several months. But each time he went down, his gums got infected, and eventually he lost most of his teeth. Still he was almost 15 when he finally went down bad enough that we had him put down.
Anybody that reads this, please, PLEASE have your cats and kittens tested and vaccinated for feline leukemia and FIV.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra Oh did Doc get medicine? My cat gets dexamethason (ecuphar) every 2 days, it's to keep her immune system up. Because of her feline leukemia her wounds wouldn't heal, that's how we found out about it cuz she had a wound on her leg that wouldn't heal. But with the cat medicine her imune system is back up again so she can heal herself and live a normal cat life.
The vet said if she shows any signs of ilness, come immediately.
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard Doc got more medicine than I care to think about. I'm not sure what all he was on, but there were pills, shots, and drops, in various combinations at various times over the years.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra Whoa :o then FIV is much more serious than FeLuk o.o;;
konohamarutard 2 months ago
@konohamarutard They're both extremely bad. The first time a cat goes down with either is usually the last. Doc was an exceptional case, and it took a lot of determination, as well as a lot of money, to bring him back each time he went down. My mother poured her heart into keeping him alive.
daltonultra 2 months ago
@daltonultra FIV can only be tested after the cat is a year I have heard. Also don't vaccinate for either! Vaccines have been known to actually kill cats. If your cat isn't going outside and getting in fights, and it shouldn't really be going outside to wander alone anyway because of safety reasons (get an enclosure) there shouldn't be a concern for catching FIV
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi Please don't advise against vaccinations unless you have a veterinary degree and some idea of their affects beyond the conspiracy theory drek spewed by alarmists. Deaths are as rare in cats as they are in humans, but FIV and Feline Leukemia are becoming more and more common. They're horrific diseases, far worse than any effect a vaccine may have. Watch one cat go through that, and you'll change you mind quickly. We lost FOUR to FeLuk, and another to FIV.
daltonultra 1 month ago
@daltonultra I am part of a cat rescue who won't use those vaccines because of the fatalities and also one of the people who was also involved studied as a vet nurse. To say it is spread by 'alarmists' is a bit extreme - there have been deaths caused by the vaccine so it is a true concern. I know a cat with FIV and she is fine! She is really happy and such a lovely little cat. If a vaccine kills a healthy cat that is worse. Like I said, FIV is usually spread through cat fights.
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi I say "alarmists" and I will say "conspiracy theorists", because when I pin someone down, and demand hard numbers instead of anecdotes, they typically respond by getting pissed off and insulting me and accusing me of not doing my research, instead of simply linking me to the same place they got their information. I have NEVER had somebody against vaccines actually link me to hard numbers or an article with valid attributions. For humans OR cats.
daltonultra 1 month ago
@konohamarutard Just don't clip her claws, get a scratching post if you don't already have one. Unless they are real talons they don't really need clipping...
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi oh they need clipping alright xD when she walks on the floor you can hear her nails click as if they were high heels xD
She does have a scratchingpost, those cardboard ones because she preferes those best and atm there's construction on the house so there's no room for a big one. Those little ones are too small for her body, I bought one a couple years back you can see it in one of my vids called pussy new scratchingpost xD

hididdlyho82 5 months ago
@suze73 if i remember correctly, every species were wild at some point......
Mrvici0us 3 months ago
@suze73 Actually, Servals take very well to domestic life, and are most likely the starting point for your domestic cats. The Egyptians kept Servals as pets, and the tradition has continued in Africa to the present day. Behaviorally, there is little difference between a Serval and a domestic house cat. It's a far cry from the lions and tigers that have caused so much controversy lately here in Ohio.
daltonultra 1 month ago
My cat has those patterns, but He doesn't have the large ears and is silver/black with some white on his chest/belly/legs. I think he's more of an Egyptiam mau but they have the same personality, I would hate to think he is part serval cause then I wouldn't be able to keep him. He is only 4 months old and stands 2.5 feet on his hind legs. Big kitty.
Armywifegurl 5 months ago

I refuse to even have a normal sized, normal cat food diet cat....because of the upkeep and the food care. No way in hell would I be buying an overpriced, wild animal that requires a RAW MEAT diet on top of it. And folks are running around like Chicken Little crying about Government waste, no jobs, losing/paying for health care benefits...yet, extraordinaryly, folks can find the money to buy and upkeep an exotic animal...wow. I wonder how many of those *complaining* folks own one of these....
mslegacy01 5 months ago
@mslegacy01
From A1 Savannah's Website:
Diet & Healthcare
Savannahs can be fed regular good-quality cat food and receive the same shots and health care as a domestic cat. All of our kittens are fully litter box trained and properly vaccinated before they go to their new owners.....
So... yeah, you are wrong... Pure Cervals are another story, however, those do need special diet and care, and, unlike savannahs, are illegal to keep most places.

I hate it when people keep wild acats and hybrids as pets. They rather off being in the wild or at the zoo than ending up as a pet. If you want a cat so bad and walk it on a leash like a dog, go get a kitten or a cat from the shelter..
chichirinuriko20 6 months ago
Ok. The man in the video has totally no idea about how to have contact with a cat.
He wouldn't "rub" the cat in that graceless way (a real classic) if he had.
Maybe he's used to dogs... maybe he just never asked himself what's the cat's point of view on cat-human interactions.
Luckily, the cat seems too curious and tollerant to be pissed off.
Hey, before you all jump on me... I'm not saying it's a bad person, just someone with little awareness about what is pleasurable for a cat.

@wieselchenchan Or you could rescue a cat from a shelter instead of buying into a trend because it looks cool.
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@missprincessfifi Or they could actually just do what they want to do instead of pleasing you.
bigj651 1 month ago
@bigj651 Oh thankyou for your presumptious opinion. I actually have some experience with cat rescue and the novelty attached to 'breeds'. Sure these cats are cool and I would be excited to meet one but knowing how many animals get killed in pounds and seeing the result of irresponsible ownership, the condition of cats that were rescued (mangled legs, completely emaciated, extremely sick with cat flu) I think I am more than entitled to recommend saving lives rather than creating more!
missprincessfifi 1 month ago
@wieselchenchan Agreed. We have one serval and one F1 savannah. The cost is in the care required: special vet visits. federal/state permits, lots and lots of raw meat food with special supplements, and modifications to the home and yard to prevent escape. However... in the end, they are really great to have around.

stevenhaudenschild 7 months ago
You know why "little" cats are tame? Because they cant eat you. If the has evolved to eat stuff smaller than it, it wont try to eat you because you are bigger. As far as fighting, cats are predators and only attack, they don't defend, only attack.
78motomag 7 months ago
@78motomag Bull shit cats don't defend.
iRainbowUnicorn 6 months ago
@iRainbowUnicorn actually there are numerous stories of cats defending their homes against intruders and in cats the females in the wild pick out a territory they then fight off all other cats, defending that territory, until they come into heat and then they will allow a male in to mate, but other females they will fiercely defend their territory against
Schoonercutie 6 months ago
@Schoonercutie I know cats defend, me saying "bull shit cats don't defend" was a reply to "cats are predators and only attack, they don't defend, only attack."
iRainbowUnicorn 6 months ago
@78motomag Your argument seems correct apart from the suggestion that cats don't defend. It is well known that cats in fact do defend. They are territorial and they attack to defend or preserve their territory. A mother cat would defend her kittens and attack anything in her way

Cats were never domesticated, they just saw a good new habitat and moved in
They even enslaved the original inhabitants
you can see one of those slaves entertaining a cat in this video.
Currently this cat is forced to share slaves with many other cats, but soon it will get its own personal slave. The slave even has to pay 2 grand.

I breed Burmese and Siamese in Australia but unless you have an outdoor run I think it is cruel to breed these animals as pets. They may also end up under the wheels of a car if allowed outside or terrify neighbours.

im pretty sure that cat has had its claws removed
ibasicallytotalyrule 10 months ago
@ibasicallytotalyrule You are incorrect I am pleased to report. I know that this serval has all his claws because I picked him up and he inadvertently scratched my neck. It was my fault.

@ibasicallytotalyrule I am pretty sure you can actually see the claws at 0:43

i was just amazed that he never got his claws stuck in her pants!

@ibasicallytotalyrule Tbh, if you are getting a cat, And you need to declaw it, you shouldn't get a cat.

@dacel88
Yes, I agree. I was mistaken because he never got his claws stuck in her pants (which is very impressive).

Declawing an indoor cat is not painfull to the animal at all.
card969 1 month ago
@card969 Why do you think it has been banned in many countries at places? Because it is CRUEL and inhumane. If you have small children, don't get a cat! Who are you to say my statement is incorrect. The majority would agree with me and any true cat lover would as well. Clearly you have no idea of that actual operation. Their claws are attached to the bone and so many of the cats end up with behavioural problems from it. Declawing is INHUMANE. No debate so don't bother responding thankyou.

@missprincessfifi lmao you are an idiot, dumbest person ever nuff said.
card969 1 month ago
@card969 Do you even know what de-clawing means? It's not just getting rid of the claws. They amputate the entire last joint of the toe. Imagine having the last bone in every one of your fingers and toes cut off. It can leave permanent nerve damage, problems walking, problems with balance, even life-long debilitating pain. It alters their personality and leaves them defenseless. If you're that worried about your kids, then DON'T GET A CAT. Or teach your brats not to fuck with the cat.
