I saw some guy on 60 minutes (he lives in NYC) and has made it his life's work to save all these old songs and versions/tabs as they are amazing in their complexity and joy. He also collects some band-modified/amplified instruments that were used at the time. Interesting little ditty. Thanks for posting. If I were weathy, I'd bring them over for a US tour! to join all the summer JazzFests!
Flashback to June 18, 1928 when Paul Whiteman recorded this Bill Challis arrangement. If you close your eyes you can almost see Charles Margulus, Kurt Dieterlie, Bix, Bing, and the fat man himself waving his violin bow!
I say yessir, YESSIREE.... This band is remarkable. Not the old record but the bygone days band sound! Wish they would play New York. I'd buy their tickets, I'll tell you!
I was there watching all their performances at Whitley Bay, I think I'm the best fan in Europe of this band! :) should say super marvellous orchestra!
That shizzle here... I remember there was a Tom and Jerry episode with something like this playing in the background...
These guys are very good and recreates the whole thing with atmospehere and all... Even the trumpet player using his melon hat to change the sound!!
That was epic!!

BHS is the best, thier verison is simular to the Geogre Olsen 78 I have on my site :)

@Zefrenm similar is too mild, it's almost identical! And a wonderful rendition!
What a compliment to Olsen and his contemporaries, that musicians would be
duplicating, and fans enjoying, re-creations of this fine music so many many years later!

@1276epr
The BHS band is playing the Whiteman arrangement. In the vocal soloist her is, however, more of Fran Frey than there is a young Bing!

Very nice. You should do soundtracks for silent pictures.
