Why are you driving backwards on the infield road course? The track should go in the other direction, i.e. the banked Turn 1 should really be Turn 13. Or is this the MotoGP layout?
I didn't realize it at first because it had been so long, but is this a Papyrus sim. Papyrus arguably does the racing sim better that polyphony, polyphony just does it prettier. The graphics look dated but that is deliberate. It's really for clarity and to reduce system overhead.
BTW when pro racers say they play iRacing for training and practice should listen. Also since it's a PC sim... well they got the 2012 candidates, didn't they.
90s graphics engine..damn couldnt they afford an older one ;)?..so where the fuck is HDR and DX10/11 mode?..comon you guys are running an outdated sim and you think you are cool haha
@pgice The typical Xbox fan-boy comment. Its not about the graphics u nonse. You're definatley cool playing Forza 3 with all aids off man. Yeah that's definatley 'realistic' - Give me and everyone else a break and keep playing your "Forza 3 DX9 WOW WOW look at the graphics - CRASH" game. You are not worthy of a proper sim like Iracing. Stikc to the Xbox NFS or Forza forums fanboy.
@delsol00000 the grapihics is part of the sim..this sim looks och sounds like shit...search for Patrik Gårdewall om google and you will see who i am ;)
@pgice your delusional to think a racing game that you can play with a hand controller is a simulator. Dont get my wrong i played forza 1, 2 and 3 to death and OVERALL forza 3 surpasses all pc racing games - except this one. It doesnt have HDR but then again your not going to be able to run 8xSSAA on your 360 either.
But, as Iracing is ONLY for internet playing, I enjoy to drive more in reality. It's abit more expensive ofcourse, but having everything even more real. Thx for iracing I know how to drive well in real, now I'm waiting I'll get to race in real courses with my own car, race against myself, going so fast as I dare, getting addrealine which never could get from PC games anymore, cause I'm too old and immune tog et addrealine rushes from video games, I need real danger.
It would be perfect, if iracing would tax about how much playing, not how long you want to keep account alive. (euros per playing hours instead euros per month while playing or not). Plus it's too bad, that it's not possible to exercise wihtout going online. I guess I would pay something like 200 euros to get such a simulator for solo /LAN driving. But as it's not possible as anyway, I do not play iRacing anymore, at all. I never could play more than 2 hours without keeping brakes, it's hard.
theres promotion with iracing right now where you can get a 3 month subcription for half the price and get the dallara and indianapolis for free, send me a message for more details
The time passes, and I don't see a single thing like moving hands for the pilot. That annoys me too much! You make a great replay of the best lap of your life and ruins it with just seconds in a crappy camera.
If they want to sell the subscription to this game for an arm or a leg, ok... but leave nothing to be desired! A simple thing like that could be implemented in no time, but they just leave it as it is...
Sad...
(forgive my poor english, it's not my native language at all ;)
@x5zero I personally dont get the big deal about the hands not moving. I play the game because of how accurate it is and the way the leagues are formed. I even turn my steering wheel off in game when I am playing so I dont see it move, just distracting to my eye. The only time you would see it was from this perspective on an open wheel car while watching a replay.
Its funny to how the rest of the world complains about how shitty they think they current indycar is. But in a simulation when you put it up against other common race cars it show that its still a top machine.
I bet you there is a third of the indy car field right now that could do just fin in a top F1 car. I've always believed that. The problem in F1 is you're either in a car that can win or you're not. Then the driver is looked at as a hero. The team with the most money and resources wins F1. I think a great driver has a willingness to mix things up and if Schumacher had balls he'd come race at Indy but he won't because he thinks that if he doesn't do well it will tarnish his image.
Because Formula One is a team sport not drivers sport. It was always about engineering skills drivers get all the fame but its a team sport. And its not true that money wins you the title, its not only about the money but the top teams get top designers. And while some drivers maybe could do ok in Formula One, noone yet has proven that plus i doubt any indy car driver atm could fight for championship even with the best car. And im not a fan of Schumacher either.
Its not true that money wins you the title? Ok maybe the team spending the most money doesnt always win but there is still a financial threshold that needs to be reached to have any sort of chance. Top teams pay top designers. Its your buck vs mine. Also in F1 there is so much angst towards american open wheel drivers they never give them a fair shot. The idea that F1 drivers are always and forever better is just untrue.
Well there are always better and worse teams, same goes for Indy Car, dont you think that Penske and Ganassi spends more money then the rest ? Ofc the do, F1 is more dependent on money because you have to build your own car. As I said its a team sport. Well there is no open wheel american driver deserving a chance, maybe in the future. Recently Bourdais who dominated CART failed in F1 agains really medicore driver Buemi
It goes with out saying the money game is a factor in all racing. But in Indycar its a much more level playing field and its realistic for more then 3-4 teams to have a shot at winning. I think Indycar is great by comparioson to F1 because for the level of competition you get for the performance of an Indycar. In F1 the divide can be so big at times its no good for racing. I think Bourdais would have done great in F1 but I again Im not sure he got the same support.
Kumaimauri... the developers of Iracing are from the former Papyrus. When it closed its doors they went on to start building iracing on their own.

The road course at Indy runs clockwise. The car is running the course backwards.
