I work in the industry, I have seen too many good shows to consider a worthy tour. The stage, set, mix and light timing was awful. Having toured with and engineered many metal bands for 15 years now,I don't just fall into the "Wow, I got to go to a lound concert" mentality.

Metallica is doing okay, but this tour need much to be on the top of 2008 list. Even Madonna has a better tour this time around and I can't stand Madonna.

The band was great; by 'show' I mean the rigging and stage was below par for them, poor stage design. The concert still kicked ass but that's only because of Metallica.

I've seen much better from them is all I'm saying; if it was your first show and you were allowed out past 9 then go ahead and get all giddy, but I've seen them do much better.

As for seats, this isn't my video, I was lower, on the opposite end.

The need to be close is for kiddies though, you'll outgrow it one day when you get through puberty. You'll find the sound and overall show is better when you aren't right in front of the stage. What do I know though, I only do it for a living.

Stage wise this has to be their worst tour yet, stage is waaaay too big for them, coffins were ridiculous, set list needs to change (I will be seeing a few other shows, hopefully they improve the setlist, totally disappointing).Great to see them again, but the show, stage, performance was completely lame compared to their older tours, hopefully it gets better through the tour because this pretty much sucked. oooh lasers! Nothing compared to what they used to do, just looks like a cash grab.

the last couple of shows were much better. If you visit their site or see other Youtube clips from recent shows, it has been improved a great deal since early in teh tour, as all tours do. The only problem now (apart from a cheesy stage) is that they play old unrehearsed songs (the songs are great) and while Lars listens to a click track, the band doesn't so the tempo keeps changing on new, unrehearsed songs as they have to keep falling back to Lars' beat.

I was in 201-A and my wife and I thought the sound was awful. It was impossible to make out Hetfield's singing ('So What''s lyrics need to be heard clearly!) and one of the two guitars would get drowned out too often. The band was excellent, although Lars sped up too many songs, especially MOP and FFWF. My ears were not ringing at all, which is unheard of at a Metallica show. The coffins were hanging from the ceiling and shot laser lights. The balloon drop during Seek And Destroy was ridiculous.
