  • This is the most common mistake of man - "WE FEAR WHAT WE DON'T " UNDERSTAND"

  • @Fred1130100: As what I've said, our fear towards aliens reflects our inner fear towards ourselves. Every person is unique, in the same way as every civilization is unique. It would be inappropriate to generalize and project our mistakes to other forms of civilizations if they indeed exist.

  • If the aliens deal with their space environment in the similar way, we are definitely doomed. But if fortunately they are not, give me a reason why they shouldn't treat us in the way we civilized people treat cannibal tribes.

  • Ironically, What really happened to native Indians was the exact opposite of that Avatar movie. Have you seen the documentary called The Cove.

Dolphins are intelligent social creatures and they are friendly to human. Someone just slaughter them in the bloodiest way. And look what we are doing to our own planet, consume ,pollute and reproduce. I honestly believe there is much more for an advanced civilization.

  • I always believe in the power of good. If you've watched the Avatar movie, there will always antagonists whose sole purpose was to exploit the natives' natural resources, but there will always be good people (or aliens). Imagine long ago when slavery still exists. But we now live in an era of transcending maturity. My point is if we could grow and still growing, how much more for advanced civilizations? Our fear towards aliens is a reflection of our fear of ourselves.

  • Think that, at the time of Colombus, it might only take native Indians hundreds of years to develop the technology and social structure the Europeans was having. Look how they got treated. Now imagine a civilization that has a history thousands or even millions of years longer than ours.

Some people ask why aliens didn't land on the White House lawn, but instead, kept abducting humans from time to time. Same reason you never try to talk to a alpha male monkey. You just want to study them.

  • getting abit silly

  • I just hope they don't greet us the way they did in Scary Movie by trying to strangle us half to death. Literally.

  • 1:42 I pictured the "dramatic chipmunk" video playing in my head

  • if u where so intelligent, why would you waste your time with combat?

  • If they cover the sun like that will be fucked up... I will be like, "Hey, don't turn the light off, you bastards!"... 1:00 lol It reminds me of the Leviathan in MP3 corruption...

  • 2:52 they needed to get a guy in to do that robot voice?

  • @adceph no retard. That is Stephen Hawkin. The most awesome and smartest physicist since Albert Einstein. He is physically unable to walk or talk but has a greater mind than me or you or anyone one of us on this page.

  • @jebitches lol. silly.

  • @jebitches i was justing pointing out that theres a credit that says voice of stephen HAWKINS. I think everyone is aware of his condition dude.

  • @adceph by voice of stephen hawking's they mean the british dude who narrated 95% of the documentary..well he basically just retold everything Hawking's said but in a more classy british voice lmao

  • @Blade025 yeah....i know

  • @adceph you must be really stupid.

  • @sebtinuss and you must be some kind of super genius

  • this guy is awesome... i cant wait for aliens to come

  • I just had an interesting idea. What if aliens were actually a superbreed evolved from humans millions of years in the future and traveled back in time just to see our past selves :)

  • @infoherper that would be kinda cool

  • I just hope that those aliens don't look like the one from alien vs predator....else everyone's face will be covered by that creepy little things came out from eggs...

  • If they visit, it will be one of two ways.

If they come in peace, it will be a single, small craft, which stays a fair distance away, and broadcasts messages of peace and enters into an extensive dialogue.

If they come in large numbers and/or large craft, regardless of what they say, we should attack them immediately. They will know of our species' nature. They will know we are warlike. If they disregard this, it is because they mean to attack us.

  • if they come to our planet we should welcome them and let them talk to our united leaders. We should be careful though

  • if they come to our planet we should welcome them and let them talk to our united leaders

  • only bear grylls and keith richards would survive such a worst case scenario :)))

  • There can be two alien species at war right now!!!

  • @stevntylertoy That's a sad thing to think about...

  • I beg to disagree with stephen's analogy about aliens like Chrisopher Colombus discovering America. Let's just think of it as USA during the Vietnam war. US abandoned Vietnam because it was too costly and impractical. I believe aliens that advance would develop the maturity to come in peace and seek diplomacy. If they are war-freak creatures like us, they would have destroyed themselves a very long time ago.

  • @peejay202 somehow you could be right

  • @peejay202 well the aliens have other objectives than what the americans had in the vietnam war...i think the analogy hawking had is correct because the new world was basically a new source of resource for them..just like how earth would be a source of resource for a group of aliens that are nomads and go around looking for planets to fuel them...and I really don't think we would stand a chance against aliens who have mastered space travel and have such highly advanced technology

  • @peejay202 if you were part of a civilization that was able to roam the universe at will and live for millions of years. would you honestly seek diplomacy with a planet of monkeys?

i think he nailed it pretty good.. but then again, like azzholes, we all have ................

  • @peejay202 The war-freak creatures you speak of as 'us' is what you are watching attempting to contact other civilisations ... in peace! we are not war freaks, but we are manipulative, curious and ruthless by nature .We shouldn't be trying to contact aliens. If they did come in peace and were literally harmless i think we would take raw advantage. We have the potential to be a feared civilisation. If aliens come here one of our civilisations will initiate war . Definitely. We are very hostile.

  • @peejay202 what anology is used, isnt important.. it gets the point across

  • @peejay202 u nvr know

  • @peejay202

The fact that they haven't destroyed themselves after they discovered E=MC^2 only means that, they have found the way to get along with each other (for example some advanced social and economic structure), which does not mean they want to treat a much younger species like one of them.

A more compelling argument, in my opinion, would be that they might treat earth like a zoo and you can always get resources somewhere else without frightening little animals.

  • @peejay202

Even if you are an animal protectionist, you just don't seek diplomacy with a bunch of monkeys.

  • @peejay202 they would have destroyed themselves a very long time ago? that doesnt make sense. How would we know how long they had been doing what theyre doing? Plus why would being whom could think themselves superior and only have the reason of stripping resources of planets want to be peaceful to us? The way I see it is they will cause an end to us someday and the longer we hold off communicating with the the better. Like shit I wouldnt invite the a bomb to my town.

  • fuck humanity anyway, when the genocides begin im siding with the aliens

  • @southsydney .... me too

  • the aliens are the colonizers of the galaxy and we are the American Indians of the galaxy...

  • I was WAAAY too stoned for that

  • @Channnnel420 try tripping to this shit man, what the fuuuuck

  • Comment removed

  • Im going to stop this right here, becuase what was just an afterthought of watching this is being taken far more serious than it was first intended.

  • ''If it bleeds, we can kill it''

  • @ANIMALMOTHERFUCKYEA THANK GOD SOMEONE THINKS LIKE ME!

if they want a war let them come, humans have always fought in war, and our bodies are perfect shape for laying destruction, experienced and lethal if they bleed

  • What would they want from our planet. There millions of years more advanced than us so I doubht they would want fossil fuels to power there masive ships.

  • @banvir99999 - Every week this country exports 380+ tons of what only can be called strategic metals. Those are alloys or exotic metals that require immense amounts of treatments and processing. So much processing in fact that the intrinsic value of many is much higher than silver or molly-be-damned. Even moderate processing of metals requires many man-hours and large amounts of energy. Many are still processed using techniques little changed in 150 years! Try for critical thinking people!

  • @banvir99999

Well there's plenty of stuff on earth we take for granted or don't have a use for (yet)...like the Nitrogen that's 78% of our atmosphere (and is highly essential for life).

For all we know they could simply wanna come and suck all our air out...but that's a long shot.

  • This is overstated speculation. I wish I was born in an age when we were starting to explore the galaxy, life would be so much more exciting.

  • I would have to disagree with Hawking on this point. An alien race so powerful would probably view the Earth as practically barren, since weve churned up most of it (unless they are masters of recycling, and need literally anything they can get!).

If Humans discovered an island with native tribes now adays I dont think we would slaughter them all to take the land, so those aliens might not be so agressive. Although it is possible, it seems lss likely than being visited in peace.

  • @MrMyers758 Nanotechnology can use any matter as building material. Our planet and its population could be pure fuel.

  • @emikochan13

Oh fuck! Ah well, if they have any civilisation near to what 1st world Terran countries have, then perhaps they wouldnt kill sus anyways. I know we use animals for food energy, and i cant comment on wether we would use animals to make fuel if it could be done effectively nowadays, but if they saw us as at least self aware or intelligent perhpas they would make some attempt to "assimilate us" or something. I damn hope! But not holding my breath.

  • @MrMyers758 Are we trying to assimilate dolphins and primates ? Nope. if they're more advanced, we would be no different to any other animal on this planet.

Keep in mind we're all made of atoms, we all know the energy released by breaking down atoms, I'm not talking about combustion here :p

    It's all speculation anyway.

  • @emikochan13

To be fair were not really advanced enough to assimilate anything of the creature variety. Plus our needs are not that which the earth is fully in danger. What I meant was if they saw our whole planet as resourceful they might try to bring us into there culture so that we dont all die when they strip mine our planet. Sort of "you can join us if you want, but if you dont we'll still strip mine your planet" kind of thing. Currently we dont need to strip the sea so dolphins are safe.

  • @MrMyers758 I'm not talking about us, I'm speaking of some species more advanced. at best we'd be pets, at worst they'd take everything by force.

Just look at how we as a species are struggling to keep the greedy members under control. Some aliens may want to keep the humans alive, but it only takes 1 alien with a red button to wipe us all out.

Yes this is cynical, but I'm extrapolating from the general psychology of every species on earth.

Thankfully, our planet doesn't have anything rare.

  • @MrMyers758 What exactly did we deplete? Laws of physics clearly state that energy cant be destroyed. so if you think our fast depleting fossil fuel, well whats to say that they havent been able to reverse this with fusion?

Just cause we mine metal, and smelt its, mold it weld it and produce a car... dont mean that, that metal is gone. theres not one spec of matter on this planet, or in the close proximity, that vanish. what have always been, will always be. And never ends.

  • @Opticalypso

OOK! Calm down! If you looked below youd see I have already accepted that idea from emiko!

  • @Opticalypso - Ever hear of entropy? Cost of renewal, retrieval or recycle?

  • @MrMyers758 look at the americans getting oil from iraq

  • @AlphaKovax - FUCK THE USA !!!

  • @punkaholix121 You're just jealous because our women shave.... XD You wouldn't be saying that if you fucked an AMERICAN chick..... lolz

  • haha we r soo screwed!

  • protoss

  • in the beginning of the show, like about part 1 this shit was really realistyc and beleivable, but when the aliens colinize and steal stars its getting a little to much fairytale for me

  • @youngfreedom93 They aren't stealing stars, they're just making a Dyson sphere. we'd have the technology for one now if we could have construction on that huge scale.

Look on wikipedia about them, they're awesome

  • @youngfreedom93 it is logically possible

  • @youngfreedom93 exactly, i agree

It get's ''fairy taly'' when those big vaccum shits pops up

  • @youngfreedom93 Well i think he just wanted to illustrated a view on how wormhole travel might be possible..and meh it is a documentary, i think that whole space invader's thing was just created to make it a bit more interesting to younger viewers...and like he mentioned..a lot of things that we have now a day would be considered "fairy tale" by people who lived in the B.C. era..i'm sure if ppl back than heard about airplanes they'd think we were smoking crack

  • There is intelligent lifeforms out there because they are smart enough to avoid coming to this planet.

  • @Bla31n very good!

  • i dont think aliens can come to our planet because they need their food and their body might not support some stuff in earth like gravity, gases...

  • @icastudeath Dude aliens will need to have evolved on a rock like ours because they'd have never evolved intelligence otherwise, because gravity leads to inventing the wheel, then the cart, then internal combustion, then better types of engine (jet engine ect), and then cars and flight, which finally leads to spaceships. However if the aliens started on a gas giant (like one of the last parts of this video) they'd never need to evolve intellegence beacause there would be no shortage of food.

  • Its such a shame Hawking has Gehrig's Disease......we're all going to get robbed of some years from maybe the only guy who can answer these questions for us.

  • @GeorgesRushStPierre I'll do it

  • Aliens could certainly be out there, but if they are so much more advanced why haven't they made it to earth yet. Also, what do people think about the possibility of other plants millions of lights years away with humans on them? Or a slightly different type of human? Like super humans? It's possible.....

  • Although I have the highest respect for hawking i dissagree with his alien ideologies, intelligent space faring aliens are certanly out there, but cmon, for every star that has life baring planets there are a few thousand that dont, that are just as easy to get to. why take candy from a baby when there is an equally good piece of candy with your name on it? making the 2nd choice would make you look like less of a jerk. and give u all the same plunder

  • Comment removed

  • does everyone here think we look to colonizing other planets, just for the status symbol? think about it.....we invest billions and billions of dollars jus to go there? we go there for the resources we see ourselves running out of. we go there in hopes of finding new materials we could exploit in the future. indeed, it is a smart venture....but is it so implausible to think other intelligent lifeforms are maybe thinking the same.

  • 傻瓜..........................

  • I think Hawkings has seen a few too many sci-fi shows.

Today, modern societies have evolved socially beyond wild conquering of lands. You think that a society that has managed to work together to travel through space would be more socially evolved than we were hundreds of years ago.

Earth doesn't have anything unique or special atomically speaking. Only thing we have are lifeforms. What could we have that they want?

Is it too wild to imagine that they, like us, are simply exploring the universe?

  • @Cressx The nomads don't have a choice, they've already used up all their planets' resource and all other assets, its either move on and conquer or die.

  • @Cressx The nomads don't have a choice they have already used up all their planets resource and all other assets, they have to get to other planets and conquer them for more or they'll die.

  • @Cressx tbh we may be modern but we still have the same basic evolutionary traits that make us murder each other over meaningless things such as skin colour and religion. we still have that basic need to survive, and it hasnt died down over the years; if anything, fear and paranoia has increased with technological advance. so its likely the aliens would be just as corrupt and paranoid as us. starved of resources, i doubt they would view a minor breed of monkey like us as a reason to stop

  • @insideous57 You just described what basically makes us human. Maybe the aliens act a different way because they evolved in a different atmosphere or environment. You assume that all life eventually would lead to the same state...peace and understanding and all that. Maybe, we are human and will always act the way we do. Maybe aliens are more violent and more destructive.

  • @csbob2004 Peaceful life doesn't get to the top of the food chain - and you don't evolve without hardships. I can't imagine intelligence leading to peace (in instinct) anytime soon.

  • Man this is such a epic fairy tale, like its like the best pile of shit i have ever seen, just with millions of dollars backing it! Stephen Hawking you are such a lame puppet of the new world order. nice proof of anything discovery.

  • dear mr. hawkings, i know you're worried that the aliens will exploit earth, but really, we've done a good enough job of that ourselves, so if the good aliens were to come this way looking for a planet to exploit, they'd likely move on to a less exploited planet rather quickly.

  • And here we are commenting.... HUMANS hehehe

  • 0:07 -- 0:58

Is anyone else slightly worried by the amount of thought he's put into this? I can just picture a massive colony of otherwise-peaceful aliens coming across this video and going "hey, this may actually work... hmm..."

  • I honestly think we could put up a really good fight... Unless they're cheap 3 foot bastards with energy shields.. Grrr...

  • Alien civilizations that can harness the power of a star is a truly remarkable and amazing intelligent life.

  • @durstmann really?!?! I had no idea!!!

  • some of this stuff is feasible but incredibly unlikely ex controlling a star. the odds of it happening are astronomical but then again we area talking about the universe

  • @runnybabbit12 shit makes ur head hurt.

  • @delorber tell me about it, but it's like a good kinda hurt

  • The wormhole thing is like drilling a hole to china from America

  • @vipermatthias not really...

the universe is portayed as a hugge fabric cloth. and a worm hole pretty much bends in, and makes a hole / shotcut thru the fabric.

  • An interesting analogy with the whole Columbus thing .. Still I think we should take our chances and keep looking. If any aliens attack just slap em in the head like Will Smith did in Independance Day. :D

  • @TheAmorri I think what he's saying is that if we search for life - the chances of finding intelligent life that would be a threat to us - would be very small.

If life however found us - it would most likely be a bad thing for us.

  • @TheAmorri too bad Will Smith is in scientology now tho..

let's just hope for suits like the spartans in halo have, a big shotgun and i'm ready for em baby

  • @BL1st3R Will Smith isn't a scientologist

  • @beckyhutchhottie how do you know for sure? there is a vid of him saying scientology is good and was even spreading their folders

  • if aliens did come to our planet, wouldn't they be really annoyed about those space invader games? also ....thank god they never came and said "take me to your leader" when G W Bush was president ...ffs

  • @MindCrazedBanjo and why would they take them to george bush why would they take the alines to USA huh?

  • @holayadios95 your right I don't know, USA ain't my leader.

  • @MindCrazedBanjo hello aliens, hehehehehe.

  • @MindCrazedBanjo

America isn't the leader of the world, fucknut.

  • I hope if the aliens are harvesting stars, they would create an intergalactic agreement not to harvest suns that have planets with life in them. (Since they travel the universe and knows that alien life is hard to find). There are other stars to choose from.

And if the find earth I hope they would just cruise by our planet and go on with their business somewhere else. At least we'll be relived and glad were not alone in the universe.

  • @LadyWayen Of course they wont harvest stars with live around them, they'll kill the life first and keep the planet to themselves. :P

  • I agree we should concentrate on more these type of topics, about our world and other planets in the solar system and outside. There is so many questions, but if we're not meant to know the truth about it all, we wont ever know.

  • What happened to the Native Americans? I haven't seen one in my life!

  • they are talking about protoss mothership

  • Far out Uranus drifts a alien sign trough space:

    Warning !

    Planet of the Apes

Dont feed, talk or trade. These monkeys are dangerous !

  • @bowman2062

    Hehehe, that's not impossible :)

As for the rest, the video made me totally impressed (unlike some people below at the commenting area).

  • @cleremisheep oh yeah lol vibrating elctro magnetic feild now i get it. thanx man :)

  • he sed it wa radio waves right so that was a sound signal. so if that was the case it woild have took alot longer than 200 years to reach us unless the signal was a beam of light which it wasnt. a just dont understand that bit anyone know wot he meant?? lol

  • @MIKEYK11284

    radio waves = electromagnetic wave.

  • ok im confused. he sed they were scanning and listining to space for 40 years and all they found was the WOW signal. he sed the signal came from a star system 200 LIGHTYEARS away so it took 200 years to reach us. a light year is the distance that a beam of light would travel in a year right?? the speed of light 186,000 mps which as a lot faster than the speed of sound which travels at 743 mph

  • Some aliens companies just setting up the seats to watch 2012 happens in the earth..

    They are actually making money

    :D

  • the news papers said he was warning us that aliens would attack soon.. even JOhn Stewart made made it out for what it wasnt. i cant believe they ruined his reputation in my mind for that brief period of time until i actually saw this.. fucking assholes taking his words out of context

  • people might think nothing is forever, but what if something is possible and may be there forever ( for internerty)

  • o_o

  • Let them come...for that night we dine in hell!

  • MARTHA. get me da shawguhn.....

  • they would have no need for complex materials from the earth or any planet. If they are advanced enough to travel through space, with the power to travel huge distances between stars in reasonable time, they would only need energy. they could easily transform energy and matter back and forth, needing only space rocks and dust as unlimited fuel.

  • Everybody is raising to many 'what if' questions..."What if aliens came?"..."What if they have technology wich is way more advanced then our own?"... so i will raise a few of my own," What if they dont come?" and "what if they dont have technology more advanced then our own if they do come?"

  • @lazybutnotfat how can a civilization with technology more primitive than ours come to Earth? Through your daydreams, perhaps?

  • @lazybutnotfat

Even better if they dont. We have enuf problems without them.

  • @lazybutnotfat if they can get to earth, then yes they have advanced technology. but yeah aliens don't necessarily have to exist and there is no REAL evidence. by that i mean nothing that was collected that WAS an ACTUAL ALIEN.

  • think it's safe to say if there are technologically advanced life out there, and their intentions are nomadic, we're fucked, and if the theory of them soaking up the suns energy opens a wormhole, when all we can do is power a lightbulb or central heating, then i'd say last orders at the bar :) as stevey boy said, let's hope they do come in peace :) cuz i can't wait to try their gaming consoles!

  • what if we are alien seeds planted on earth, what if we are decendents of aliens and there planet was in trouble and they wanted to save there exsistance, is the idea to far fetched? there is talk about if humanity wants to survive, we must collinize on a diffrent planet, this was said by dr. steven hawkins him self

  • i will cut alinen balls then they are mortal

  • if advanced life forms like these will really come to us bringing forth war, then we wont stand a chance.... our techies are still too weak to face them at this time.As you can see, our weapons are still depending on metallic projectiles and we still didnt even develop that so called particle beam accelerator so awaiting our fate would be the only thing we can do

  • Is there another season of this 2011

  • the window may be snall for humans to ever make contact even if we seen them coming 50,000 light years away.we would be extinct by the time they arrived.Human existence is nothing compared to the distance and lifespans needed for an entity to travel interstellar distances. We will be extinct before 15 million years of existence.

  • SHIT. ANOTHER DEATHSTAR!

  • to be honest it probably is safer the aliens having that kind of power than ourselves, we don't exactly have a perfect moral record either

  • dont worry, we got chuck norris

  • they won't...

  • People treat themselves as a threat, they compete with each other because they are equal. They don't kill pets just because they eat their food. Pets aren't a threat to their well-being. I just don't think, that technologically developed aliens who can create wormholes which bend the space-time would kill us all just because we live on the planet where is some iron...

  • someone hurry up and breed more chuck norris

  • i live for the day that aliens visit earth and we are all aware of their presence, but it could be dangerous do to the fact that we would have no immunity to any diseases they could have and that itself would destroy us, and vise versa.

  • lol the sound effects when the aliens come out of the wormhole

  • people have to remember we are aliens to the aliens aswell and we might be more advanced then they are =D

  • @tributeforlife But if they are able "to get here from there" they are far more advanced than us. Take a look at Michio Kaku talking about type 1,2, and 3 civilizations. We are classified as type o.

  • @tributeforlife not if they come out a wormout after eating up a whole sun..you know what i mean

  • @tributeforlife No i dont think so.If they are interstellar aliens the chance is zero percent. That we are more advanced.

  • Scary to think that we might just be an insignificant species that blows itself out within a few thousand years of hitting intelligence.

  • @sillywalks111 Sadly, I think its pretty safe to say that with nuclear weapons, and the human trait to concur and destroy, we will blow ourselves out eventually.

Human beings will be the end of the human race. That much is obvious. The atom bomb will make sure of this.

  • @sillywalks111 I think most conscious beings able to reason would do the same. Its like animal to animalistic with awareness and reason.equals destroring all inferior lifeforms because ability to reason for greed.etc.

  • What if they were a biological race like Tyranids man, living spaceships; harvesting biomass, holy shit.

  • I dont think aliens would attack earth for its resorses there is plenty of other planets cold dead ones with no life they could havest resorses from and they would not have to put up a fight to get it i think the only reason an alien civlisation would attack earth is because humans are so hostile that we may become a threat to them if our technology becomes high enough to chalenge them just like we always have done with other nations on earth

  • @EYEallseeing

    Unless humans are the resource...

  • @homovittuapina a good point or they could just want to make us all slaves

  • @EYEallseeing But you see IF aliens are taking resorses from planets that are as you say cold and dead, how do we not know those cold and dead planets have life on them? or for that matter how would the aliens know, IF aliens were to come here i dont think it would be in piss and i doubt we could put up a fight.

  • @EYEallseeing We would be as nuch threat to them as an ameoba is to humans. If they were a perhaps 100 million years more advanced. It would be a war of the worlds type of extermination.
