4. Britain and the Netherlands are using their force as superpowers against a small island of 300 thousands people to get a very unfair deal.

5. Iceland has not refused to pay but find the deal very unfair. Althingi has accepted laws to pay icesave, the former laws did UK and the Nehterlands not accept, and now the president vetoed the new laws and put them to the nation to decide.

6. We should now get all parties together with someone who can settle for a fair deal for all.

Yes, lets recap:

One man, Davíð Oddson, then the head of the Icelandic National Bank (Seðlabankinn) signed a piece of paper, presented by the owners of Landsbankinn (a private own bank) saying that the goverment agreed to back up the private bank´s investments in UK and the Netherlands. Then the economic crisis happened and Gordon Browned enforced the Terrorist law even though he had the piece of paper saying that the Icelandic government would pay.

Then in September the Icelandic Parliament passed laws that agreed that this piece of paper was to be honored and the President did sign those laws.

What happened next is that the contract made between the UK and the Netherlands was vetoed by Ólafur Ragnar, the Icelanders are not happy that they should have to pay for one mans signature and few people greed. I think it´s only fair that the people have a saying in when and how they are bankruped.

This does not mean that the Icelanders won´t pay, it simply means that they didn´t like the contract and think that it´s possible to make a new one. The laws from September still stand.

It can be looked at since Icesave was stationed in Britain and the Netherlands, the payments should come partly from those countries and partly from Iceland. Banks must keep a fund, which is a certain percentage of the income kept in the bank, for crisis like this. In the case of the Icelandic National Bank, IT FAILED to keep up with this obligation. Again Davíð Oddson is to blame for this.

While this was going on, the people who actually set up the accounts in the UK and the Netherlands, the people who OWNED Landsbankinn, and Davíð Oddson moved all their assets to other countries so now they own nothing in Iceland and their loss is ISK 0.-
