  • To much vibrato. Distracting.

  • My friend hated this song, then she heard Lea sing it...

  • Lea is a gifted woman and few can match her!

  • Except for the bit about a lost love, since I've never had the opportunity to fall in love, this is exactly how I feel about my life.

  • I think it makes the version that there is only a piano. It emphasises her wonderful voice and delivery. Oh to be born with such a voice.

  • sucks that theres only a piano in the background D:

  • Lea is so amazing... I'm playing Fantine right now, and she is my inspiration for the role :). She puts her heart and soul into playing Fantine, and it's absolutely beautiful :)

  • :)♥♫♪♥♫♪♥Lea is GOD for me!!!!!

  • my god, what a beautifully heart-wrenching song. she has such a pure voice...i would have killed to be there for this!!

  • i really love and adore this woman :)

  • to sing like this in park is just amazing

  • @ Anjoel22 - You know so much about beads..... You use them often I'm sure.

  • Lea is so superb....

  • vaynard091 one thing insecurity...heeheh lea is fantastic.. thats it...

  • her voice was more perfect and bigger in the 25th anniversary in O2 arena in UK

  • lol... one of the most famous broadway performers ever... Lea is amazing.

  • @Anjoel22 u stink coz ur useless compared to her ,,I,,

  • She inhabit the whole idea of the role and she delivered the song in that context. Bravo.

  • Lea Salonga has this sweet soubrette sound, but she was forced to manufacture her voice and belt. Do not get me wrong! She is my idol! I just wish that she just sings naturally and healthily instead of belting, but in her field, she has too to make money. Boo.

  • @ElvinD15 Actually her belting is natural for her. Most of her roles she has done are mezzo-sopranos/ belters including Kim, Eponine, and Fantine

  • can i like this vid 1zillion times??

  • I am horrible at pop so do not look at my channel but I have been in 15 productions and that was way too much vibrato

  • 99 people are 100% jealous- she has an amazing range, an amazing virbrato, and an amazing tone! there's nothing to dislike!

  • Eigentlich ne schöne Stimme aber ich find sie macht zu viel Vibrato =|

  • Wow, I have to admit...I laughed a bit when she sang 'Nigghhhttt'...

    Don't hate me. I love Lea :') !

  • Still can't get over the American accent....Although I don't know why an English accent is any better to portray a show set in France :') But ah well

  • hey voice is a really thunder...love her..she rocks..

  • wow

  • i have decided to just ignore and pity the plain haters, the tone deaf who think they're hearing right, and the plain unhappy people who can't hear a beautiful sound because their ears have been clogged by misery.

Even with a few missed notes in an outdoor performance, this performance is still as gripping as when she is in the theater, hearing every note of the accompaniment. She's simply awesome.

  • those who dislike the performance of lea or her voice only envy her... or maybe they just don't know how to appreciate the real beauty of music... i pity them... tsk, tsk..!

  • everytime i hear her voice i get goosebumps i looove her.........i dont care about the politics she brings jy to so many and for that thank her ;)

  • Wow ::getting teary-eyed::

  • @ProudFilipinoMan sorry but I don't get how Lea Salonga is guilty of the Vietnam War and why should she be ashamed of being such a great artist...

  • @ProudFilipinoMan

    Shame on you, too!!!!

  • @ProudFilipinoMan Are you really Filipino? If you are, man, you're the biggest "talangka" ever!!! And pray tell how could Lea be guilty of what happened in Vietnam! What a warped opinion!

  • @doc2log Doc, ignore this idiot. He's been on several of Lea's blogs and he's ALWAYS bad mouthing her. It's almost like he's stalking her. He should change his name to BitterFilipinoMan. Better yet, delete Filipino and just call him BitterMan. It fits him better. How any Filipino could not be proud of Lea is beyond me. Just my $.02. BTW, it's been a while since I've spoken the language but what is "talangka"? I assume it's not complimentary. Peace...

  • @H1delta Hi! Yeah, I can see that about this bitterman already. LOL! Maybe he wanted to be Miss Saigon and obviously didn't get the part, hence the bitterness! "Talangka" are the little crabs who are caught and placed in a big basket and the only was to escape the frying pan would be to get up and out of the basket, but that's what all the other "talangka" are doing too! So in the process, when one gets to be "up there", the others would latch on and pull him down and everyone goes nowhere!

  • @doc2log Talangka fits him to a T. He is crabby. Salamat po.

  • @doc2log

  • POWERFUL CHEST TONE..

  • this is what unique about the way filipinos like Lea Salonga and Charice.... they sing the song as if they live on that every single lyrics and emotions, so passionate about the song's message... so that people could able to relate the meaning of the song and why it was written...

  • @orbinglight Really? ONLY Filipinos can sing that way?

  • @orbinglight Granted, she gives me goosebumps, but I'm sure that many people can sing well like her. :)

  • No crazy about how she pronounces her Rs, but otherwise, amazing performance.

  • i love her so much!, she's my role model and she seems like such a lovely person! :)

  • If my roommate wasn't here, I'd cry. <3

  • can someone help me find an mp3 of her singing this please!

  • can someone help me find a mp3 of her singing this song!

  • @jenaba90 just convert the video to mp3 format on zamzar.com ! i do that with all karaokes on youtube

  • totally effortless stunning

  • @spoonsey. Ha ha ha ha, I have fallen off my chair.

  • Me aged 15 singing ' I'd give my life for you' ..please let me know what you think

  • Comment removed

  • For some odd reason, I love it when she grabs for the locket at around 2:43-2:44.

  • I Love You, Lea. <3

  • perfect broadway singer!!

  • If I may Add... Pleaseeeeeee.. Lea Owns this song,,, so if there is some fuck-up mind artist singing this song with their own version... think again, this song should stay in Broadway..'til they learned how to sing it right.

  • @chrisasprec3682 correction. Lea owns Epoinine and on my own and all other Epoinine related things. Ruthie owns Fantine.

  • @nicolepontesings haha ,,,then why are you logging in your comments here,,,coz nobody would read if you post it on ruthie's video... coz you knew most poeple were watching this than your Ruthie's.... haha.. poor poor you ,, hahahaha..pathetic. pathetic hahahahaha

  • 95 people are crazy..

  • Precious woman. Valiant heart. Perfect soul. I weep with joy.

  • absolutely amazing... can anyone please tell me are there any singers that didn't sing since they were little (from about 10 years)

  • AW!PROUD TO BE PINOY!!!

  • she's awesome!!!

  • powerful vibrato

  • wow!!! Perfectly amazing... What a powerful voice...and the emotions of every lines are there.... Magaling talaga ang mga pinoy!

  • So knowing what I know now after this 2 year old negative comment about Lea performance, She is amazing that's why she got the Les Miz 25th Anniversary role of Fantive

  • stunning performance <3

  • Uh, to the people who say that Lea's too young to do Fantine and sing this song and all that, that she still lacks the emotional requirement (a.k.a that Ruthie's take is much better due to her maturity), the fact is: Lea did this role at 37 and as a mother, as Fantine is; Ruthie did Fantine when she was still in her late twenties, and still not a mom.

The point is, before arguing, get your facts straight.

  • She is just amazing!

  • After singing this piece so many times, her biceps have really grown, lol.

  • at the beginning the crowd was so noisy but when Leah sing the phrase "and i still i dream hell come to me" its all so quiet, such voice she moved those people into silence, a true legend

  • ack! I pressed the dislike button. People of youtube, I ask for repentance. Stone me to death. Now.

  • Love it but I still prefer Ruthie Henshall for this song.

  • I like this song!.

    Please CHECK OUT my version!!.

    Thank you!

    x

  • WHAT A VOICE.........AMAZING

  • Lea's best version of this song is in her Reno Nevada part 3 concert...Watch it you will be amazed."

  • I love every part of the song, Lea Salonga made it more beautiful

  • The part i love the most from " And still i dream he'll come to me" till the end

But its a hell of a song.. it gives me a hell of a chill

  • I just imagined this woman yelling her husband...poor guy!

  • awesome!

  • What intensity and emotion! Incredible! She was in character the whole time and felt the anguish and pain. The funny thing for me was how at the end your still feeling the raw emotion and sorrow being expressed and she just turns it off at the turn of a dime! Amazing!

  • she has the most beautiful voice ever!

  • I was browsing the video covers of I DREAMED A DREAM in youtube a while ago. i have heard various artists and people doing cover or singing this song but only Ms. Lea Salonga can perfectly perform and deliver with a pure emotion on that song. She owns this song!

  • I love the part where she sings "Where it all went wrong."

  • such an amazing talent

  • SING IT LEA BABY!!!

  • she is on top of all discussion closed, her voice is outstanding, perfect vibrato, never shouts when singing, powerful voice and great emotions, seriously why would any one dislike this

  • @vaynard091 2 reasons for the dislike: 1. The buttons are too close together and 94 people hit dislike by accident. 2. 94 Bieber fans.

  • She's a fucking powerhouse :D

  • What I wouldn't give to have a voice like hers...

  • guys.....Lea Salonga is amazing and her sneezes are 20 times better than susan boyle on her best day, so this argument is stupid lol.

  • @yupp40 ,,,yup yup,, not only her sneezes,, her snores too,, it might cradle you to sleep. haha..

  • How to overcook your vibrato. Otherwise, one of my preferred versions

  • i like her better than Ruthie Henshaw.

  • Susan Boyle does a nice version of this song.

But Lea Salonga is completely different class.

She'll be singing this at the 25th Anniversary concert for Les Mis.

  • i felt goosebumps all through out the video. love her forever.

  • Ing love the faces she makes on low notes!

  • i prefer lea's voice to susan's.. though they are both very good, i like the quality of lea's voice better. idk it's "lighter" than susan's. i guess it makes sense to me.

  • There's room for more than one great singer. Lea and Susan have different voice types and style. Why the need to compare them so you can put one down? Are YOU in their league?

  • @ALICEDODD There is definitely no need to compare the two as there can be more than 1 great singer. However, taking someone like Lea who has been in the business for as long as she has and even considering comparing her to Susan is a massive insult to Lea. Don't compare and just enjoy them, that's fine. If the comparison does come up however, I believe it would be a lop-sided win for Lea

  • Lea Salonga will reprise her role as Fantine in the 25th Anniversary of Les Miserables on October 3, 2010 at The O2 Arena in London. She must have done something right ;-)

  • @dossery100 boyle and Lea = apples and oranges. I'm sure there many broadway greats you've never heard of. Expands your horizons... Look beyond pop culture :-p

  • @kingelf3 Lea is a seasoned and acclaimed broadway star (among other things). So while would appreciate the advice, I don't think she needs it from any of us hehe. (les mis...miss Saigon...anyone?)

  • i love her so much, she´s amazing ..

  • BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I like her vibreto.that make her different from others.

  • @kingelf3 lol. giving advice to lea salonga. hilarious.

  • @geehop11 well i am an actor an thats on of the 1st things u are tort is all ways face the audiens :) im olny bassing on what i have been tort

  • @kingelf3 Who cares what you are! I don't! And I don't wanna hear your advice! Giving one to an accomplished actress/singer and a legend at that, hmm, sounds more like you just wanted to have the chance to say "well i am an actor." So you did! You got your 3 seconds of fame, so now piss off! It was just an open air show, probably a festival. Giving advice to Lea Salonga! What an overbearing shit you must be!

  • @valleyofneptune wo wo wo chill out if u read my hole comment i was saying how good she is and i was only giveing a few pointers thats all i dont no who u are valleyofneptune and u dont no who i am so u cant say anything about me i happan to thing that she is a grate singer and that i hope she keeps up the good work and i dont bost about being an actor at all and fyi i have had more then 3 seconds of fame i no u think your a someone ranting on youtube about random stuff

  • @kingelf3 OK more than 3 seconds of fame, I'll give you that but you don't know me either... and I do more than random ranting. Good Day.

  • @valleyofneptune ok maybe random ranting was a bit much and yr right i dont no u so wt do u say to a trues

  • @kingelf3 OK, the overbearing shit remark was more than too much as well. Truce is it. There, our worlds are at peace.

  • YOURE DEFINITELY UNCOMPARABLE...YOURE THE BEST PERFORMER IN THE WHOLE WORLD..YOUR MUSIC LIVES FOREVER....WERE SO PROUD OF YOU..

  • .gosh..im so speechless..she's one of the best...good work ms. lea..we are proud of you,,

  • ASTOUNDINGLY BREATHTAKING..

  • Leao knocks it out of the park out in the open, with a piano and a roaring crowd. She's SO dman good can you hear a pin drop??? Even the birds know when to stop singing...

  • i love this! go lea!

  • absolute perfection as always....... i love Leah so much.....

  • I love her voice!

  • ur the best lol really love u lea

  • full of emotions...a superb performance

  • her version is the most emotional. she sounds better than others. goes to my favorites!

  • What a voice!!!!!!!!! Soooo powerful! (;

  • her vibrato is incredible!

  • Susan Boyle is good - Lea Salonga is magnificent. What she pulls out of these is heart-wrenchingly superb. This is an amazing performance, out of character. Makes you just melt for her, in ways you can't even imagine that you could feel. What a woman! What a song. No one else can come close.

  • I think lea used a lot of vibrato when singing this piece because she was playing the character of Fantine so had to make her voice sound a bit more mature to fit in with the character. Most people who play fantine have a very strong vibrato. But it is a wonderful performance of the song! I prefer lea playing the role of eponine though as she has so much innocence in her voice. :D

  • GOOSEBUMPS!!!!

  • Next judge of American Idol? What do you guys think?

  • last note was a little iffy, but amazing singer, truly amazingly inspirational, i had goosebumps :) but if i had to critisize anything i would say that she uses a little too much verbrato, but otherwise AMAZING, stunning performer. x

  • For my is Lea the highest level in the world of music. Sorry for my poor english.

  • @jenknermario I agree with you 100%!!!! I don't even feel worthy to be LISTENING to Lea. She's just amazing.

  • #LOL go Miss Lea.!!..

  • Lea is so Amazing...Lea is a filipino... I'm proud to be a filipino... :) Go lea!!

  • The most beautiful voice I've ever heard...

  • wow..i did not expect to cry in this song.. but i did..i just felt the great emotion she had in this song..

  • She has an amazing voice.

  • she could be rachelle's mom in glee! or lea should be in glee..

  • @mg276q you don't know how much i've dreamed about that! but idina has already landed the role. oh well, they can still guest lea

  • @high5iver i agree with ya lea should be guest there

  • @mg276q you are right, i hope that in the next season of glee leah will become a part of the main characters of that show. She is an actress and stage performer, though my hands are up with idina, I also love the way she sings.

  • she sang with clarity and wonderful voice.. :-) i love it!

  • the person saying "sorry" FTW.

  • I have seen quite a few Fantine's now and for me, Ruthie Henshell's Fantine will stand out forever. I think that perhaps Lea is a little too young to understand and so emote the emotions of Fantine. Still she has a long career ahead of her with that voice... well done Lea

  • CANTA MUITOOO ! AMEI *------*

  • to achive a beautiful voice like that... you should drink a lot of salabat (ginger tea)

  • She's a genius....Whoaaah!

  • i've watch the rendetion of susan boyle.. susan is good that's y she's in the finale of BGT but it's too far from lea...

lea is the best among the best.. full of emotion!! heartfelt.. superb!!!

  • wow it was awesome...

  • seriously galing si lea ( shes great) I like susan boyle, but mayn you get leas full emotion when she sings!! you feel that this is a sad song and it is. She conveys every emotion of dream that didnt come true. Susan doesnt do any of that. When susan sang it, it sounded like a happy tune, not a song of dread and sorrow
