  • i'll go along with that actually. Riz raps like he's spitting over a Killer Instinct instrumental. Kid it ain't 1991 anymore

  • @beebhoy - You dont know me so wipe your lips

  • real talk!

  • get some thoughtz of mortalz tunes up in here biznitch

  • U should get this stuff going out there!

we've got a hard accent to go into the hip hop scene ;)

anyone comin on here disrespecting him hasn't met the guy or would say that to their face...let alone get off their ass to save the human race. Wasn't even looking for a rhyme but fuck it

like i say keyboard warriors don't win wars, getting involved is the way forward

  • real talk...real talk lads...peace once again from dublin, ireland, mark

  • "buy some jay-z or some fifty cent 'n then... get your groove on, get ya bling on" - sad but true .)

  • Nice rapping skills

  • Technique rocks, best rapper in the world! Who cares about empty mainstream shit?

  • PEACE! Cool interview & ill freestyle. Nice punchlines!

  • Question .... If thats your opinion of Eastborn and Scottish Hip Hop as a whole why do you have us as a friend? Also, if Scottish Hip Hop is as bad as your saying it is then why is Canibus, Killah Priest and other big US names working with our boy Eastborn? It seems that the only ones that want to hate on him are actually from Scotland... pitty really.

  • i dont know why, all i know is that i definitely didnt send out the invitation.

and i dont know why killah priest or canibus agreed to work with you either. i dont know why killah priest worked with that useless maccabees crew who were on his second album and then disappeared. but you, canibus and priest are all rocking that same never-going-to-blow-up-anyway-so-fuck-it conspiracy theory jedi mind tricks preaching-to-the-choir steelo so it kind of makes sense.

  • i dont even particularly dislike eastborn. im just sayin...you're nowhere near the beat. as is usually the case. even mc paul barman swings once in a while

and cmon man, dont be daft. the reason noone hates on you outside of scotland is for the most part noone knows who you are outside of scotland, other than the "real hip hop" choirs to whom you routinely preach. whose total number probably wouldnt fill easter road.

  • you and others have been saying the same thing about scottish hip hop being on the cusp of a breakthrough for years and years. it will stay at its current glass ceiling until everybody stops trying to sound like hijack circa horns of jericho, o.c. circa 1994, or a low-ranking wu-tang affiliate circa 1997

  • You fail because you believe that artists such as myself want to "blow up" & you consider material wealth as some sort of thing to boast about when that couldnt be further from the truth. I dont listen, nor like, nor even entertain the "music" that you like & so your opinion doesnt mean anything to me, altho I RESPECT your opinion as each is entitled to it. Personally, there are no better emcees than Canibus, Priest & Technique..where as you would disagree as they have no mainstream success

  • its nothing to do with material wealth dingus, it's to do with your music reaching a wide audience, and having some purpose and cultural impact beyond being cheap gratification for "real head" douchebags. you really wouldnt want the audience and influence of a kanye, a kweli, even a roots manuva, a jean grae or a wale? shit, what about a belle & sebastian or a mogwai?

  • my point is it's pretty easy for rappers like you and canibus to say you reject the idea of widespread appeal, because you know there's no danger of it ever happening anyway so why try. it's easier to stay in your comfort zone and preach to the choir with one-dimensional monochrome pseudo-hardcore bullshit. i also find it deliciously ironic that mcs like yourself and immortal technique preach anti-capitalism and anti-establishment because, essentially, that's what your consumers want.

  • Not true, not true and not true...you shouldnt judge others based on your own personal greed and outlook of life....

  • it's all supply and demand. if immortal technique wrote a song about a cute bunny rabbit noone would like it. it doesn't matter that he has the geopolitical foresight and emotional maturity of a 14-year-old, as long as he poops out broad-stroked anti-whatever content, he will have food on his table. in the same way that people watch sex & the city because it makes them feel fashionable, people listen to immortal technique because they it makes them feel dangerous

  • as for vinnie paz; there is no shortage of mcs that i would label "shite", but vinnie paz is probably the only mc who i'd see fit to apply the label of "unpleasant". thoroughly unpleasant. he's the kind of rapper who i would suspect the columbine killers would have really dug. but dont tell me, columbine was a cia/starbucks/body shop/reverse vampires conspiracy, right

  • and didnt you get the memo? rappers cant pull that "but i'm really big in poland, honestly" shit anymore, now that anyone with a few clicks can look at your youtube views or lastfm plays

  • Judging by your replies its clear we cant have a grown up adult mature discussion.... so do as you wish, but dont foget to check the myspace plays (over a million) and the other videos that have been up for a few months (couple of thousand),,, salaam

  • Wow, about the dumbest thing I've ever read. So if he is all about writing about whatever puts food on his table, why the fuck would he go to Afghanistan to help build a damn orphange etc? Because he's a poser or what? Take your head out of your ass.

  • Your totally right bruv, artists like Eastborn and Technique and others give thousands each year to charity as well as all the other work they do, they never ask for thanks and never expect it...the abuse they get off of jealous haters is terrible.

  • well whoop de do. thousands of people from scotland are doing volunteer work at any given moment. most of them can probably stay on beat better than eastborn an' aw

and i didnt say he was in it for the money. there would be a pretty obvious problem with claiming that, which im sure i dont need to point out. what i am saying is that he cops out and does what's easiest, whilst self-righteously claiming "the masses just dont get this REAL SHIT" or whatever

  • sorry Riz, no better MC's than Canibus, priest and Technique. What a load of pish! And Khalil you don't know nuttin son! no one os trying to sound like circa 94' (even though in my opinion it was the best time for hip hop). Hip Hop now is in the worst state it has been in in years. I have a collection of around 4000 records and I think I've added about 10 to that in the last year because the music output is so dire right now.

  • aye i know they're not explicitly TRYING to sound like 94, they just are unable to progress beyond that point. like el-p said "you don't innovate because you CAN'T innovate / its not a choice, despite what you might tell your boys"

the last three or four years have been really poor (with the glaring exception of cuban linx 2) but there's still lots of talented artists out there doing hip hop-centered music. glasgow's own hudson mohawke, for one

  • Fuck your upper class righ boy shit ... if thats your bag then so be it... Personally NOONE can fuck lyrically with Immortal Technique or Canibus ... have you even heard their new albums? I doubt it...now go choke on a silverspoon... Listen and you might actually HEAR ... just a thought...

  • aye okay. maybe go back to 87 and say "fuck rakim" because he was from long island and rapped about space. immortal technique is the musical equivalent of a che guevara t-shirt, and canibus is a walking joke

oh, and heaven save us from music made "to get your groove on" to, eh? because that's not where hip hop came from at all! to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat? away and get yer giro ya fuckin skidmark

  • You smoking crack? Do you think Eastborn is actually supporting people who "get your groove on"??? lol that just shows how you arent even listening!! And yeh Canibus is a "walking joke" yeh you really know your Hip Hop, lets all bow down to your knowledge lol

  • @DropZoneRecords

Eastborn, "Glesga this and Glesga that". Son your fae Edinburgh! Wit a clown!

I don't give a monkeys, hip hop is in a terrible state right now.

  • Bit of a trumpet aint you Beebhoy? Eastborn is from Leith and fiercy proud of that fact... but then again as your blaming one person for the current state of Hip Hop when you clearly havent listened to his music... tell me, what is it you know that you know that Killah Priest, PaceWon, Canibus, Suns of Man etc dont? Lol what a baffoon!

  • actually I have Eastborn's album, it's not bad. I know each of the artists you have listed quite well. Infact I Pacewon's very fisr record, do you know what it's called?? I bet you don't do you?? as for Sunz of Man I have nearly everything they released starting with 5 Arch Angel. Don't even try to test me when it comes to hip hop knowledge as you'll get burned!

I am not blaming him (or you) for the state of hip hop but are you telling me it ain't in a bad shape??

  • So if you are what you claim to be and know from the above comments, why the swipe at Eastborn? And note that he has had alot out since his album, so if your just relating to his music being old sounding cos the last one you bought was in 2001 ... well .....

  • what else has he had out? And has he really done work with Wu-Tang? When was this?? i'm sure he has made songs but where do you get them? I think he believes he is bigger than he actually is. The best MC out of Scotland is Bohze, 2 Tone have always been the best group as well as big Div.

  • Check iTunes, he has done alot of charity tracks for different charities on there, also on bandcamp(dot)com ... he also appears of the M-Eighty (Wu Tang Killah Bee's) album Golden Ages..with Canibus and PaceWon and 60 Second Assassin. That and tons more actually.. and WHERE is it you get the impression he thinks he is better than he is? Where has he EVER said that or even remotely suggested that? Thats just not true..when asked who the best rapper in Scotland was he answered instantly...Bohze!

  • nice job, keep it up i like it
