@ryanch11 SSD doesn't improve FPS in games or anything like that... It loads faster than HDD that's the main difference, but if you look at the prices, pay over 100 bucks for 60 gig ssd and on the other hand you can get 1TB hdd for 50 bucks. And after the program is loaded, there isn't any difference between the HDD system and SSD system, because the program is running on your RAM anyway...
@alexbeast14 thats right im not.... this means the life in our galaxy is limitless and more outrageous imperial destructive force will collide in the future bringing this life destination the an END!
I have a i7 920 D0 steeping myself... I have a 4.2 Overclock when at Full Load under Prime 95 or Everest CPU stress test...
BUT... when i turn off prime 95 and the Everest Stress test the CPU than goes back down to 2.4 ghz... it's like the cpu only overclocks itself when the speed is needed...
but i was wondering if i can get my cpu to run at 4.2...24/7 without the speed going down when i am not using a Full Load...???
i hope that you understand what i'm trying to say.?
@Rocism01 you need to go into your bios and disable Intel SpeedStep Technology (or similar, look for SpeedStep) and disable C1E Support (or similar, look for something to do with C1E in your cpu settings).
All these do is to drop temperatures, voltages and power draw to lengthen the life of your CPU, in other words, it clocks the CPU back to the default when you do not need the power, but when you do, it will overclock itself up to the level of processing power needed. Do you understand that?.
@customcomputerftw I try to make a video by next week showing off my h50 overclock. system i7 860 at 4.2 (4.5 stable but the volts are too high for my liking so i leave at 4.2) evga p55 ftw corsair dominator 2x2 1600 cas 8 lian li lancool pc-k62 rosewill 1000w wb caviar black 1tb os windows 7 samsung 160 gb os snow leopard geforce 9800gtx=crap waiting for gtx 460 1 second ago
hey man whats ur temps ? im at 3.7 ghz with some cheaper liquid cooling system mine sits at about 50 for the cpu. and my 295gtx goes up to about 70-80 under load. I got an alienware rig like 2-3 months ago came with all my stuff. And yes i know building ur own people is cheaper iv done it. but dont have the time to do it any more. anybrew thx for the help.
cool vid man...although i find it hard to believe that will be a stable configuration for a long period of time...(even with lc system) vamp it down to 3.6 or so, and you'll have a reliable system.
really? well thats good to know, i'm ordering one for my new build . i still might keep mine under 4 to be safe for now though since i have no experience overclocking the quad cores.
@TheNickzy I run my 920 @ 4.2 on air (V8 cooler) but I turned HT off to save on temps and undervolted as much as I could - right now 1.2VCORE seems stable (primed95 for like two hours - later will go for 12 hrs). considering WC cuz I want to go higher and turn HT back on.
Did you turn off HT? Whats the point of buying an i7 then? xD HT does do quite alot in programs when you do "work" related stuff and when you edit video ;o, Would you mind sending me a message with the Vcore settings and such? Since my cooler is the excact same :)
the i7 900 series overclocks like a dream. i have my 920 at 3.2 ghz, gonna push that further as soon as i get a better cooling system. NEVER buy an all in 1 liquid cooling system thats all one piece, just an fyi lol
ItaHomerSimpson, Just want to say thank you for sharing your experience and taking the time to make this video. I just completed my build too..I have the DO i7
920 and I have it up to 4.0 ghz. I have 3 Solid State Drives in RAID 0 and this PC is fast as hell. Also have 3 2gb Dominator GT 2000mhz Ram, Rampage II Extreme MB, 1200 watt Thermaltake, ATI
5970 Graphics Card, 1 Tb hard drive for storage and 320 gb hard
It works perfekt with liqiud cooling system, CPU temp on prime95 after 1hour not more than 65degrees. even it work, what brings you 4.2 gigs? nothing, you wont use it to 100% with 4 cores
You have your core voltage at 1.875 for a mere 3.6 OC? That must be a typo cause honestly you should be doing 3.6 with max 1.35...I'm at 3.8 with 1.275 perfectly stable for 8 hours on prime96 and 2 hours on OCCT. It gets up to 75c max and thats only because I'm still on air cooling. Should be getting my water cooling stuff soon though and 4.2 should be easy.
Seems unstable, also it'd be cool to know if this was a trial&error setup to get to these values or just grabbing them from some random spot. I'd like to see results from an intel burn test, orthos, or similar test. Making it into windows does not mean it's stable.
i agree with u.. all the cheap crap WC like Corsair H50 & All-IT Domino is worse than high end air cooling like Prolimatech Megashadow & Thermalright 120 Extreme... LOL
the Coolit Domino, is better than the CORSAIR H50 and better than any aircooling, and it also spanks the shit out of all low to mid end water cooling systems out there...
people are hitting 4.2 with there i7 920 using the DOMINO and ELITE...
what kind of cooler are you using and what cpu clock speeds are you hitting...???
But i've only got GTX260 and the i5 2,66ghz so my setup is kinda budget compared to yours. But i got my 2,66ghz up to 3,8 stabile with the stock air cooler :=)
impressive oc'ing but damn. the noise... even with water cooling, with that many fans its not feasible to run it for long hours
telostia 3 months ago
@telostia It 's a very old video , For 3 Nanoxia 2000rpm this noise is the minimum.
Now i have quieter and better fan , and i put the radiator inside the case.
I' ll make a video.
