I just came hear from listening to Red River Rock by Johnny & The Hurricanes. All these years & I never knew that the tune had lyrics. I never knew that it was so old or so sad either. You really do live & learn.

My dad use to sing it with my mom when I was young, at home on trip, He will whistle just like him, I lost my mom but I still have my dad, and when he sing it, I close my eyes, and I can see and hear her singing with dad, tears will come to my eyes.

I loved hearing my father play this on the harmonica. I remember the first time he played it. It was amazing. How could a WWII soldier, a veteran of the "Battle of the Bulge," a guy who was so big and strong, love this great song and tune.
