  • i AM A 50- 60S MUSIC LOVER. BUT LOVE THE RED RIVER VALLEY. A COUNTRY AND WESTERN SONG. ALTHOUGH I BELIEVE THE VALLEY IS NOT OUT WEST

  • @srcourtofficer You are correct, an early version of the song referred to the Mohawk river valley in New York State, an earlier version referred to the Red River in Manitoba, Canada and another to a river in Iowa (1870 - 1895)...

  • Great song.

  • My dad use to sing it with my mom when I was young, at home on trip, He will whistle just like him, I lost my mom but I still have my dad, and when he sing it, I close my eyes, and I can see and hear her singing with dad, tears will come to my eyes.

  • I loved hearing my father play this on the harmonica. I remember the first time he played it. It was amazing. How could a WWII soldier, a veteran of the "Battle of the Bulge," a guy who was so big and strong, love this great song and tune.

  • I've known this tune for as long as I can remember, but I've never heard the lyrics O_O It was strange when I -just- started whistling to it, because I didn't make the connection immediately XD

  • We used to sing this in reform school while chokin' our chickens. So many great memories.

  • It is indeed a great song, unless you have heard George Straits' version. I have it but don't know if I would have get any permissions or how to go about getting them, then how to upload it.

  • Great video -- great song!

  • Only one word "Excellent"

  • It's a wonderful version no matter whose it is. Loved the whistle in particular. Mourning for the passing of something beautiful.

  • Red River Valley - Tex Ritter is not!! This version is ROGER WHITTAKER.

  • Ty The Tex Ritter songs are a gem from the past. Lenny

  • Thanks great to play along to on the harp

  • As A littl boy my Dad would sing this song and play harmonica. I was thinking of it the other day and found it on you tube. I like this version really well. heres to you dad. enjoy!

  • Any one who is a big country fan can tell that this song is not done by Tex Ritter As stated. But rather by another great singer Roger Whittaker who else is able to whistle like that it is a dead giveaway. This song is from his LP-ROGER WHITTAKER ALL TIME HEART-TOUCHING FAVORITES

  • I like Tex Ritter songs but it definitely isn't

Tex singing this song. It is none other than Roger Whittaker, who really does this song justice.

  • Mooi nummer bedankt voor deze prachtige muziek

  • Rex Ritter's version is much deeper emotionally than any other artist I know. His words are directly honest of the deep pain men feel but hide.
