  • I've always held the opinion Mario was overrated and saturated by overplaying on air. Every dude who knows no OK Jazz will always know three things, all starting with M; Mario, Mamou (not Tu Vois), and Madilu

  • Men africans WERE RAPPING LONE AGO,JAMES BROWN TOO

  • Mario, very nice song indeed. I had an opportunity of seeing Franco twice when he visited Kenya. A great man with his tout puissant orchestra Kinshasa jazz.

  • Ehh Mario! Quelle belle chanson.

  • Kenyatta Stdium, Kisumu Kenya is a living testimony of the hit of this song. Pple didnt bliev tht Franco cud come 2 Ksumu untill they heard the sound of guitar (Le grand maitre played his guitar in a specific way). Th stdium sold out, th multitude pushed th wall 2 access grounds. Asked later in Belgium abt his best performance ever, Luambo Makiadi poses, says he's yet 2 do his best bt on 2nd thot says tht a memorable one is Kisumu Kenya.

Thanks a lot for posting

  • Mariooooooo

  • The mention of these countries is not in the original version. The original song just states that Mario has a diploma, and he should go look for work and stop being a bum.

Franco added a little something in this video. He says that Mario has 5 diplomas, the first from Canada, the second from London, the third from the United States, the fourth from the Sorborne in Paris and the fifth from Brussels (holds up his hand and pleads for Mario to look for work!)

  • The song is about a guy named Mario who lives in Portugal, a guy with 5 doctorates who hates working but likes sugar mammies. It's a song about man who are irresponsible and date sugar mammies. So, the sugar mammies are now tired, and advice Mario to find work to do. I hope you understand.

  • Franco...when i hear you, i feel my late brother Martin Wanzetse..Your bits resonate in my my mind to date...RIP

  • What the meaning of this song? I understood something about Canada, United States, Sorbone-Paris, etc?

    Who can help us?

    Merci

  • There used to be a full translation on Youtube but it seems to have disappeared. The Canada, US, Paris, etc. is only in this live version.

Anyways, Mario is a gigolo who I guess mooches off of women and becomes a bit of a burden to them. I don't speak lingala either so that's about as best I can explain it.

  • @PongettiKin the song is about a man who take a older woman lol like back in the time of my mom alot of guys did that and they didnt want to tell people the older women was his wife/girl and mario is name figure lol i wish everybody listenin to this song understood lingala its really funny in the beginning

  • @PongettiKin u don't speak but U understood! Mario is a " portuguese gigolo lol"

  • @PongettiKin : all i know is that "na lembi yo"means i'm tired of you in lingala

  • @PongettiKin Your almost right he is talking about a period when guys used to get older women because of money and they did not want to work but when their friends saw them they denied the older woman

  • @PongettiKin wow thhats a nice assumption cause ur right even for a person who doesnt speak lingala! lol mario had a wife and would mooch off a rich lady because he was soo handsome so she didnt mind until she got tired of him because he became very violent lol...ahhh u gotta love this! <3

  • @22jan51 It Means A Guy Who sits at Homee doing Nothng whilee The Woman Provides and brings The bacon homee x

  • @22jan51

He(It) speak about universities where Mario obtained his diplomas

  • @22jan51 Mario is a gigolo whom lover doesn't want anymore. There is a response to the song. As much as I would like to translate the song for you, it is an arduous task. One day, maybe...

  • @22jan51 yeah it's pretty much what PongettiKin said. He's basically a man wh*re and women take care of him and now they're complaining about him and they want him to leave, the canada us thing is just mentioning all the countries where he studied and got diplomas but he doesn't want to work.

  • @22jan51 He says that Mario has 5 diplomas, the first from Canada, the second from London, the third from the United States, the fourth from the Sorborne in Paris and the fifth from Brussels (holds up his hand and pleads for Mario to look for work!)

  • Franco is talking about the behavior of this guy named Mario, who with 5 degrees ( one from Londres (London)l, USA, Osborne France, etc...yet is not settle ,can't get a Job, to take care of his woman , acctually he is being taken care by an independant woman, ( using her) so the song its relating to all that goes arounfd when a man is being a lazy one in a realationship... so the public wonder ,

  • @ebesynthe This is a good piece of music I can't agree with you more...(Kudzi Zimbabwe)

  • for whom he wrote the song , ( the interview) so he was asked, but he told the congolese audience that i quote , people think Mario is congolese, but mario is portuguese...Nice song... this is my band ( u can see me playing organ) after Franco passed away , the band stiil exist!!! regardez aussi ,Empire Bakuba Live a kinshasa.

  • Bravo Maistro!!!

  • this is a really nice classic.

  • people, tell me when exactly was Mario first produced? cant be 1985 since I remember dancing to it crazy at nairobi City Stadium in 1983 Dec. Ask my friend Bassanga. Jim Jakarungu

  • ibiro yudo duoko

  • @MrJakarungu

    Na mimi pia!! 1983

  • ooooo i loove this song...my god please im so emotional to hear this song once again. if i tell people how much i love this song they think im just being too "congolese", not even people you must know that congo music is the best. we love it becaus its the best, not because we congolese!

  • the greatest so ever

Listen to the guitarz and de saxa phones

  • If you know how humble, great and talented Madilu is you would have used a better word than 'like' may 'not favourite'. Please tell me you are joking. Look at his funeral and tell me whether all this are mad. He made music history . Wow how uninformed some of us are. Tell me you are not into one of these new 'fake' unatural machines who call themselves 'artists'

  • Talking about

  • Jeannotlolango,

Thanks a great deal for the translation. I am very thankful. I wish you who understand the language would help those of us who do not understand Lingala get to know what they are talking about and the context.

  • What does "Lokuta, Olobaki oyebi Mario," "Mosala na ngai?"

  • Does mean"it isn't true?You told that you know Mario","My job"

  • ''Lokuta, Olobaki oyebi Mario" means ''Bullshit, you've said that you know Mario"

"Mosala na ngai" means ''My job"
