The scream that Black Francis does at 1:23 sends chills down my spine. I fucking love him. He is easily the most versatile and amazing vocalist of all times.

You can feel the terror his screaming ignites but it also inspires you and makes you happy. In some songs (In Heaven) he sounds like they are preforming an Exorcism on him or like they are burning him at the stake. Then other songs he sounds really mellow and relaxing and pitch perfect. Hell, he's even pitch perfect when he yells. Love!

@179rich Yeah! Even to this day. Just saw them live last Monday and it was the best show ever! Kim looked so giddy and happy. Such a change from those brooding and pouting rock stars. I fucking love the Pixies. They broke the mold of the annoying flashy rockers who concentrate more on their aesthetic than on the music.

It looks like an Ovation Viper (pretty much like Robert Smith's Breadwinner).

@babymicrobe julosx had it right; Joey's playing an Ovation Viper III, to be precise. They were manufactured between 1975 and 1983. It should be noted that the Ovation Breadwinner looked nothing like this, though. Interesting, this is the only time i ever saw Joey playing anything but a Les Paul.
