Legit dude I didn't think I could draw on this shit till now seeing this just opened a whole new world of possibilities for me thanks dude and fuck the haters y'all think you can make a better tutorial do it then! Nut up or shut up fuckers!
how can you people say this isnt a tutorial, if you dont know the basics then i doubt you know how much this is helping people who already mastered shape and or value!!! artists learn more with their eyes, what is the diffrence of saying "draw a circle here" or just drawing a circle?!?!?
i have adobe photoshop cs5, and i cant make anything even close to this, i cant make anything at all i must be doing something wrong please can soeone help?
@mikea295 just use 100% opacity and 100% flow on a standard brush, black preferably and play around with shapes/siluohettes. Try things like creatures people and environments, this technique works for anything.
Lovin' the concept art. I actually sort of liked where his hands were originally placed more than your edited version. The first one is like, "Yeah, this place sucks and I need a gun, but I don't necessarily need it right now. It's all cool." and the second on was like, "Yeah, I have two guns. I like to wave 'em around and shit. I took this small one from an old man."
I love the music in all your videos. Did you say anywhere what this song is called? Keep it up. (:
This is an utterly useless video, especially for beginners. Good job! You ripped off the video, and provided a very useless video! You failed at accomplishing anything special.

these are pretty impressive what style influences you most these kind of remind me of the Metal Gear Solid the twin snakes. Good work on the figures but I think to add a background to your concept characters would make a great sense of their relationship to space thus giving them a more powerful feel but I agree with the comment about your anatomy you have a great sense of it! I am still just working on getting my anatomy at a basic level any tips for that ?
You might want to consider actually speaking. I didn't learn much here at all. Tutorials are for teaching others. Placing text buttons doesn't help either. @conceitarturo Thanks it fixed almost all of my problems. But there i still some gray at the start and the end of the line I have just drawn. P.S. I have a tablet I'm just new to photoshop.
- i can't see the tutorial in this video and number 1 video but love the concept art. i want to make concept art to rpg games like hon and lol because i think its cool :P
- can you tell me are you using a mouse or like a pencil on a board ?
- and where can i get photoshop for free and what version are you using :)?
@ryofulance this is where you should start to learn at, next to anatomy. sure. next stuff is flesh out aka render it , which is a whole different level, because its not about impression anymore, but it needs to work the whole way through. there is also not much need of composition, colour, functionality, not sideviews yet etc. getting down shapes is for sure THE step for beginners, and something you can ALWAYS advance and learn upon. also good for anatomy training.
really nice ! being a big fan of concept art , i must say this one is pretty sweet in his simpleness, with only a few brushstrokes we already see the big idea .
You're great at this. :) I think it's best to get a feel of the person's size first. so I always size it up to another that I have drawn or an actual object that I copy and paste like a car.
I'm an aspiring concept artist and I gotta say your stuff is amazing, the technique especially, I've never tryed this method before...then again I don't have a tablet either, but mouse drawing will have to do. I HAVE to try this lol
@gunzet If you're serious about concept art the only way to get really good, is to use a tablet Wacom tablets are industry standard they are highly recommended it's important to use a tablet for accuracy and to improve your work standards.
I had cheaked out the other 2 vids before this one, and i have the starting down, but i was wondering for the details of the tones of white and gray, did you use some sort of angled one? or did you use a regular circle to draw in the details after the original silouette?
it is for beginners as it tries to explain at least, you need inspiration and some techniques to be explained here, after all... the skill is inherent to those who wish to do concept art right? I wanna do this, but I can only do it on paper so far, PS is my next step after I get a tablet. What I want to know is Which brand or model should I get? price isnt a problem, I just want to get quality (sensibility and pixels per inch and stuff)
@DesertFoX91 Just make sure you get a tablet from Wacom. A Wacom intuos 3 or 4 is a really good tablet. If money is no problem you can also get a Wacom Cintiq, these are tablets with a screen inside so you can draw directly on screen like you would do on paper. I have a Wacom Cintiq and it was defenitly worth it for me.
But if you actually don't have a lot of money, you can also just get a Wacom Bamboo, the quality is defenitly good enough to start making concept art on PS
@dejakhalz Ty buddy, could get a bamboo with my own money but dad is kinda elitist so he wants me to work my ass off and he'll get me the cintiq12wx since the bigger one is... well too big for my actual needs. ty for the info again
@DesertFoX91 Your welcome, I have a 12wx too and it is the same quality as the 21 inch. However, the 12wx is widescreen so it will make your drawings more wide compared to a normal monitor, something that bugs me a bit. Something to keep in mind...
Dude! Thank you for posting this awesome video. I'm just learning how do draw in PS for fun...I read that you are using calig brushes but do you adjust the brush angle for different strokes? Or do you just switch between brushes as needed? ie, you don't always want your brush oriented left to right 45%. you may want it R to L at 76%. New brush or change angle? Many many thanks.
Bedavelli, I would like to formally request that you create a real-time concept art tutorial. Maybe you could explain how you use the brushes that you do? Pen pressure as well?? Also, what size canvas do you usually start with?
i like the rough-like shapes that the characters have even in final step. in seems to me very effective. ( anatomy is my horror - I just can t draw an appropriately shaped figure . )
I'm using Snapz Pro - i'm pretty sure it's a mac - only program,
it works great, the user interface is incredibly simple and i've yet to have a problem with it - that is to say, I never have any software problems whatsoever anyway.

This is a very simple way of creating character concepts to be honest. But like everything it will take a little practice and imagination to get quicker.
I also don't really have a good hand for this, and my mouse kind of sucks. Is there any way to help this? I suck at drawing straight lines and things like that
Hey, I really like these concept art paintings you do. I'm trying to learn myself. I've got a question though. I see you selecting different brushes alot. Do you use all the basics or have you downloaded new ones?
go to your brushes and 'append' the "calligraphic" brushes,
that's all I used for these vids, and that's all I used for a long, long time.
But dude, don't get hung up on who uses what brushes, it's all about you, 100%. Try out as many of them as you can, find some you like, and use the crap out of them.
I'm editing the figure primarily on one layer. I'm just using black and white with the brush - or painting a black silhouette and erasing out to draw. There's no layer modifications or tricks, it's all one layer and just painting.
That is great! I'm going to try this out in Macromedia Flash! If I ever going to post it on youtube I'll probably make a link in the description to your video!
SUPERB!!!! DAMN This made my day so much brighet! Nice to see something other than aliens for a change. Have a great weekened, much love!

not for this vid -
go to your brushes and 'append' the "calligraphic" brushes,
that's all I used for these vids, and that's all I used for a long, long time.
But dude, don't get hung up on who uses what brushes, it's all about you, 100%. Try out as many of them as you can, find some you like, and use the crap out of them.

Hmm...are you using multiple layers? or are you editing the whole figure in one layer?

I'm editing the figure primarily on one layer. I'm just using black and white with the brush - or painting a black silhouette and erasing out to draw. There's no layer modifications or tricks, it's all one layer and just painting.

That is great! I'm going to try this out in Macromedia Flash! If I ever going to post it on youtube I'll probably make a link in the description to your video!

Never to late to learn how to draw. Unless of course you're on your deathbed or something.
