And I remember my dad comparing both films after we watched the Avatar film in 3D at the theaters. I did agree with him that Avatar was like Ferngully.

I dunno how Avatar rips off Ferngully, but instead of fairies, it's a race called Na'vi, and the marines killed Na'vi only to get a mineral that costs billions. In Ferngully, the Leveler is controlled by Hexxus just so he can destroy Ferngully after he was accidently freed from the tree Magi trapped him in. So, I don't see how Avatar rips off Ferngully. Instead of covers, use valid points

@FPSLink55 Well Hexxus is really a metaphor.About the destruction humans have brought to the world and the nature.Its made so it can fit younger audience.The Movie is trying to achieve 2 things. Both to increase the young audience's ecological consciousness and at the same time presenting it through a magical story that the young and everyone will enjoy.

Did you hear this song first in Great Outdoors with John Candy? it's been one of my fave songs since i saw GO as a kid. I was 10 years old when i saw this animated movie in theaters and had the hots for Crysta, she's near with Ellinore and Tinkerbell. Does this movie remind you of Princess Mononoke, Avatar and Nausicaa combined? they are all similar with it's themes and stuff including magical forests.

@Johnlindsey289 I had heard it before seeing The Great Outdoors actually, as my parents had some Wilson Pickett records they used to listen to when i was a kid. Crysta, Ellinore and Tinkerbell are all smokin hot fairy chicks i'd like to bang. And yes, this film along with Mononoke, Nausicaa, Avatar and even Atlantis and Castle in the Sky are all very similar to each other.

Great movie and great soundtrack! I saw this baby back in 92 when i was 10 going on 11 and amazed me, but this song was introduced to me when i watched Great Outdoors and even liked Tom Jones's version. Crysta turned me on like Ellinore from Wizards did and Tim Curry was great as always as the baddie. Anyone who likes this should check out Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Wizards, Pom Poko etc. for similar movies.

I am more into this version by Guy than Wilson Pickett's version with the rawer sound. Anyway, there are instances when I like a cover version more than the studio original (and vice versa). And usually I prefer studio recordings over live renditions.

I also like how Ini Kamoze made a song with the doo-wop vocals from this song in a hip hop song which actually sampled funk before the Y2K bug ruined hip hop by ditching the funk!
