A-fuckin'-men! This album came out when I was 17 and has held a rare spot in my collection: I've owned it on album, 8-track, cassette amd CD. It now resides on my ipod! When a new medium evolves I'll probably have it on that, too because it still holds up as an ass-kicker.
Man, I haven't listened to this song since 1977! I hope they really are bringing back the vintage sound for the new album. This was the last album of theirs that I really liked.
The boys are getting old, when you look in the mirror we see new lines. Just grew some chin hair and now it's most gray. If ur daughter is listening to ur music, ur older than me lol.
@headforthehillsDI In the old days AeroSmith sucked in concert... terrible! They were so drugged out the sound wasn't even close. I heard their much better today, was going to see them, but Tyler fell off the stage the concert before and cancelled!
@uprite88 When I said I had the best time ever, I didn't say it was the best Rock Concert. Probably the best I've ever heard and seen, as far as cohesion goes, was Rush 2112 concert in 1980. I had an extraordinary time. The venue was Cape Cod, we tore it up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@headforthehillsDI Understood my friend, ur an old dude like me lol. I'd have the say my best time was at the Stones concert at Candlestick park, the crowd was electric. But for the music of a band, it had to be Ac/dc in the late 70s.
@uprite88 I never did see the Stones, wish I had. "Cant you hear me knocking" and "Sympathy for the Devil" awesome tunes. My daughter saw AC/DC with her friends parents, she said they were really good. The teenagers love "our" music, and who can blame them. I know what you mean by "electric", that's how Rush was for me. :-)
@headforthehillsDI I saw both the Stones and Aerosmith in the late 70's. I saw Aerosmith 3 times and they were GREAT, only once-1977, Toys in the Attic tour with REO Speedwagon and Slade, the two subsequent time I saw them they weren't so good (because Tyler & Perry were worked on Cocaine!). I Saw the Stones in Wash DC@ the Warner Theatre(Surprise Show, announced the day of-) in the late Summer of 78, performing "Some Girls", and it was one of the BEST!
@funincenmd They toured 'Draw The Line' in 1977 - 'Toys' would have been '74 or '75. I saw the 'Rocks' tour in '76 and they owned it...by the time I saw them again in '77 the drugs had really taken hold. I was glad when they came back in the '80's, one of my favorite bands ever...
I was a teen when this came out; I'd play it all the way through; one of the first albums I could do that with. I remember burnin a doob and by the the time this song came on, my buzz was perfect.
Then I'd have to reach over and flip the fucking record over :)
Perry is good, but the "other" guitarist, Brad Whitford, deserves as much credit. Brad went to Berkley music school and I'm sure taught Perry alot. Rocks is among the most kick ass rock ever made...and will probably ever be made. My bro bought this album in 76 and, even now, my hair still sticks up on end when I hear most of the tracks. The album sleeve has a ton of pics shot while in the studio...drugs usually kill the creative process (G&R), but, in this case, it created some jewels.
Hey guys in case you didn't know I wrote "I'm only 17 and I think this is the best I've ever heard!! Joe Perry is a fucking rock n roll bad ass!!!!" At first I meant it and was sincere about it. Now that I've see all these dousche bags are writing similar things for attention and "thumbs up" I regret it. Fucking pricks killed it.
in my opinion the best albums are:aerosmith, get your wings, toys in the attic, rocks, draw the line and night in the ruts the last one is very underrated
@Simon4642 talking about the band, not me. they made their best music during the drug days. if you already have talent, sometimes the drug experimentation can enhance creativity. you have to have the talent to begin with though; the drugs will not create it for you. beatles another example. sure, some bands are/were drug free. thats fine, too. whatever works for them. you may have a puritanatical view. thats fine, just dont piss down my back and tell me its raining. p.s., learn to spell.
so guys... what is this song about?? is about perry getting doped or something like that?? i can't translate the lyrics very well, because i dont speak english so i dont get the slang too well.. can anyone tell me please??
@sicoticosandro I think it's about drugs and rehab maybe... When he say "can't part the three of us" I think Perry is talkin' 'bout a mix of cocaine, heroin and himself... Or maybe heroin, a needle and himself... Another clues that make thing it's about drugs are these parts: "I'm rearranging my game tell by the shape I'm in", "I got the Nouveauree"; seems Nouvaree is that mix of cocaine and heroin I talked about before.
But the truth I'm not sure at all, this song lyrics are really cryptic
I know that most people, no matter how old, think that their generation's music was the best. But this is the Real stuff kiddies. there is NO music being made today , that is even in the same conversation as this.R O C K S was one of Americas Greatest rock albums.

Favorite Album, every song is heavy and just rockin' Kick ass tunes and music playing. A testament to what a rock band should produce. Rock on Aerosmith.
"Get Your Wings", "Toys in the Attic", and "Rocks"....perhaps the heaviest Aerosmith will ever be guitar wise. Not to discoount any of the other releases, but these three still get plenty of spin on the player. This song is evident of how tight they were during this period both musically and lyrically.
@lxlandia Wings / Toys / Rocks = 3 solid albums. This "is" Areosmith. And they have not had enough good songs after Rocks, to make a good record, but they made 3 good records in the span of 3 years ... and virtually a handful of hits in the following 3 decades.
@johnnymegabyte I have all the Aerosmith cd releases up to Draw The Line. After that I just could not seem to like their songs enough purchase Permanet Vacation, Pump, etc. Granted some the the hits they had during those releases and beyond were catchy. Still, I prefer the earlier releases. There were much heavier and raw, and not so radio pop freindly. But that is just my prefrence, again. Aerosmith is still a band that has made a mark in the rock world.
@johnnymegabyte Draw The Line is great. 1. draw the line 2. i wanna know why 3. critical mass maybe my favorite 1-2-3 to start off any Aerosmith album. I prefer it over Get Your Wings which is great.
What is with everyone saying that last child is the lesser song on the album? Last child is a fucking incredible song with tons of passion, easily the baddest ass song on that album. This is weak and boring as hell compared to last child. Last child epitomizes aerosmith for me. Raunchy, unforgiving, and totally sexual.
@Uradyke69 Last Child is a good song, but it was burned out on the radio. If you can't hear the Magnitude of the Badassitude of this song then...oh well.
I can just feel that the Music Savior will be coming in 10 to 15 years and you'll just know he'll be it. Just keep onto this music and he'll come. I can feel it, and I know everyone else can!
@MrMacswellsmart Wolfmother are pretty awesome too. I do like some modern music, it's just sad how a bunch of posers with no musical talent that sound the same as every other band can become famous.
@aerosmithofficial3 -- I agree.. I looked up joker and the thief, and mind's eye, and they can't even touch Aerosmith's Rocks... Aerosmith were raw during the early days... People today are getting jipped because most bands are using autotune... Btw, like your musical selection on your page...
Oh yeah! : )

The opening riff is oh so raunchy. It drips. The rest of the song is chaos.

Rocks. best Aerosmith album. Toys and the 1st album awsome also. Maybe drugs r good for musicians because once they got sober they sucked.

@MrMarill --Some think that Def Leopard will go down as 1 of the best rock bands of all time..
MrMacswellsmart 1 year ago
@MrMacswellsmart I agree with you. I'm saying this is real music, compared to the shitty music we get today.
MrMarill 1 year ago
@MrMarill --Definitely!!! Nickleback & Alice in chains are pretty good groups also.. But nothing like the 70's

@MrMacswellsmart Wolfmother are pretty awesome too. I do like some modern music, it's just sad how a bunch of posers with no musical talent that sound the same as every other band can become famous.
MrMarill 1 year ago
@MrMarill --That's very true, most bands today does sound the same... I never heard of wolfmother....

@MrMacswellsmart Look up Joker and the Thief, or Mind's Eye. They're both awesome songs.

This song gets better every time I listen to it. "Rocks" deserves more attention than "Toys in the Attic".
